President's Challenge
I just found out about a program called the President's Challenge at www.presidentschallenge.org. It's an online program to help people become more active. You can start out by trying to be active 30 minutes per day, 5 days a week, for six weeks, and then you can move up to a new goal if you want to. I think it will be good for me because I have been saying for a long time that I need to be more active but I just couldn't find the time and motivation to do it. But on this website you log your activities and the amount of time you spent, and the program calculates points for you toward reaching an award. It also shows you how far you have come by showing stars whose points get filled in each time you reach your goal for the day.
Just thought I'd share!

A great motivational tool!!
Good for you - I think this sounds terrific... I went and took a super quick look at the site (will check out tomorrow but I'm coming down with something
and want to get into bed early tonight). It also has a challenge for those who are already active... this might be a great way to track progress, push yourself one step further than you currently are.
Danna... I am thinking of signing up - and I think it would be terrific if you/we/others also post their goals/accomplishments here. THere is nothing like having others to keep you accountable for yourself (the FlyBabies know that!
)
Good luck and keep us informed!

Hi Timoney! I certainly would
Hi Timoney! I certainly would like to keep track of progress here, too, if people are interested in doing that. There's also a feature on the President's Challenge website where you can form a group ... we could form a TNH group.
As far as my progress, I have gotten 30 minutes (the minimum amount to complete the challenge) each of the last two days but the day I signed up I only got 25. It's really hard for me to find the time to exercise because my husband runs in the mornings before he goes to work, so I have to stay home and take care of Danika then. Her nap time is right after lunch and I don't want to exercise on a full stomach. I tried one day to wait to eat until after I'd put her down and exercised but I was starving and it was horrible. I guess I could try having a snack earlier in the morning so I'm not so hungry, but to be honest I look forward to the hour she's asleep to just veg a little bit because I'm so busy when she's awake. Or I try to get housework that's too hard to do while she's awake done while she's napping. And in the evenings I don't want to exercise because I have just eaten dinner, and it's getting dark, and I want to spend time with my husband.
I guess the real problem is that I am an inherently lazy person and I don't actually want to exercise. But I do want to be fit so I guess I'll just have to stop making excuses and just do it (no allusion to Nike there).
