any quilters out there?

Good morning, all!
I came across a couple of links today which may be of interest to my fellow manic quilters.

As some of you may recall, Evan O'Neill was a Private First Class from Fort Drum's 10th Mountain Division. He died last month in Iraq at the age of 19.
His Mother is channeling her energies into making, collecting, and distributing quilts for veterans in her area (Massachusetts). Her project is called "To the Top".
I am humbled by this woman's amazing grace under pressure.
I know that there are so many demands on our time at this time of year, but I hope that this project will merit some consideration.
Best wishes
Rose

small correction
Evan died in Afghanistan on Sept 29th. Sorry for the error.
quilting for a cause
There is a group of ladies in my area (S.CA), "Prayers and Squares" that make quilts for people in need. They are lap size and made to order (color) for the designated recipient. The usual recipient is terminally ill or, has met with another ill fate lost a Mother, fire, etc). The quilts are tied, rather than quilted and each tie that is tied has a prayer said over it by the ladies making these quilts. They bring such comfort to those in need. This chapeter donates their Wednesdays to quilting for the needs of the week and take home projects to complete and tie the following week, before starting new ones. Several of the ladies belong to the guild www.beachcitiesquilters.org
We are doing a Handmade
We are doing a Handmade Quilts project this year. We are going to take the squares and make a quilt and raffle it off. The drawing will be held at the end of our relay event. We received some unique squares and touching stories to go with the squares.
