I've been scrapbooking with Creative Memories products since 1998. My mom is even a consultant as a result of our cropping habits. Anyone out there a scrapbooker? Share ideas?

I've started a little bit of scrapbooking this year. I swore I wouldn't get into it, but after seeing the stuff my SIL and MIL have done, I broke down and started. I haven't done much, especially now that the baby (oops, I guess he is a toddler now!) can reach the table and pull stuff off.

I haven't used Creative Memories stuff. I don't like their albums. I can't plan that much ahead to have everything in order. I also can't afford their stuff. LOL! It cuts into my Longaberger habit, haha (as a result of that, I've become a Longaberger consultant, sounds like your mother! LOL!). Anyway, I like the papers from Hobby Lobby and stickers too (mainly because they are always having 1/2 off sales). My MIL also has a journaling CD-ROM and I've been playing around with it a little. As soon as I work thru my fabric stash a bit more, I'll try to scrap a little more. Always some project going on around here!

My mom gave me pictures of my ancestors and my sis gave me an album to scrap these pics . They are from when photos were first made. I feel so grateful and excited to have these. Many are from victorian days WWWOOOOWWWWW

I just got into also the rubber stamping..I got the alphabet and around 40 other stamps to use in my albums. FUN FUN FUN

I'm a scrapper too!! I just wanted to do a little bit but one day I went to an all day crop-and-shop and somehow all these stickers and papers came home with me. I couldn't waste them, could I? So I bought a couple of albums, then more paper, then I discovered cut-outs. Oh, did I mention the magazines, fancy scissors, beads....well you know how it is. Yes, I do scrapbooking.

Yes I also like to scrapbook. I have only been doing for about 6 months. My son is 10 and I have his done till age 3 1/2. I just started on my dd who is 2 1/2. They have such nice stickers at the craft store. It can get into big $$ tho. I found some free stuff to print out when I did a free scrapbooking search on google. Just an idea for you all.

I used to....

but now I do everything digitaly and I am working on other ways to conserve memories. eg: my wedding is on DVD; menu, special features, 2 diffrent camera angels, still shots from a third, deleated scenes, I love computers.....

I might do a combo in the future, especilly when my kids are born, perhaps with custom made stickers and a DVD to accompany each book or something....

before when I did (middle and high school), I read the comics of the newspaper and cut out ones that were relivent to my life then stuck those in as well. I found it amuseing and a good varient.

scrapbooking update

Submitted by jennye on Sat, 03/27/2004 - 8:18am.

Well, I finally got back into doing to scrapbooking. I said to heck with the fabric stash for now, I've got memories to preserve. LOL!

I've gotten May 1994 (when I got engaged) all the way through Summer 1998 done. I've been trying to do a spread a day, mostly during Chance's nap. I really like Keeping Memories Alive stuff and Me & My Big Ideas stickers. I do all jounaling and most titles on the computer, using MS Works and a Creative Keepsakes CD-ROM. My MIL and I (she is really not like most MIL's, she really is my best friend. Strange, I know) talk about ours all the time now and compare and review each other. Most of all, we enjoy them.

I can't wait to get a new computer with a DVD burner so I can put home videos on DVD. Sounds like fun, Tash!

I have been snookered in!

Last summer my girlfriend invited me to a Creative Memories things, and now she has lots of us hooked! What I like, though, is going to a crop party with my girlfriends -- I am sooo slow at doing the pages, because I am such a perfectionist. I hate committing anything to paper, and then I always think I should tweak it just a bit more to make it just right.

Still, I am into it, and some of my pages have turned out pretty good. We should post some digi pictures and share!

That's a great idea Shaun. I would love to see some pictures of others pages. I have a scrapbook, but I don't know if I would call myself a scraper? When I hear some people talk about it I think they must be doing something different, putting more time into it, something. Just the excitement in there voices, I don't know how to describe it, but either way, I wonder if I'm a true "scrap booker" I don't get excited about it, I'm not sure I enjoy the process, but I love the finished product. Make sense??
Any one have some pictures they wanna share??

Jamie Lea, I'm working on making a section of my site with some of my stuff on it. I'll let you know when I get it up (maybe today? who knows).

Shaun, I've never been to a crop before. My babysitter (MIL) is my scrapping buddy, and I definatly do NOT want to take Chance to one. LOL! Never been to a CM party either, but MIL likes their cutting system.

MIL and I have decided we aren't so much as scrapbookers as "Photo Album Preservers". That is, we don't do all the fancy tags and rivet things and embelishments. In one magazine, it said "pick one, maybe two photos for a page and work around it". In the end, you were looking at all the crap around the picture, not the picture itself! We do the 12x12 pages because we can fit more on them. We seldom do more than 2 mats per picture, use just a few stickers for fun, and jounaling to tell the story behind the pictures (who, what, when, where).

For some really great and cheap idea books, Keeping Memories Alive have 4 idea books for .99 each!

I eat them up nearly every day! I even had to have the one that is out of print and got it on Ebay. LOL! They are all about 30 pages or so, a really great value!

I agree with too much STUFF on the pages defeats the purpose of scrapping. To me it is to

have fun
preserve your pictures
preserve memories

I use many things when I scrap but there are not tons of things on each page

as far as "fun" ,,I think each person is going to have thier own level of fun,,,for some it is thier main hobby and some just quick work to get it done...I feel what ever works for you

creative memories is great but yes big bucks,,,I am very happy to have two stores in my area that are scrapbook stores. Archivers and Memorybook Lane..yes they have tons of my money and my DDs

look back in past posts for web sites I posted,,,can't think of them now,but boy are they great ones

the stores by me you can go there and use all of thier stuff ,,save you money by not have to buy the block cutters etc.,,of course you are so convieniently right there to spend more money Smiling on paper and stickers eyelets and albums

its amazing how many products are out there ,,I think we have to keep our mind on the pictures too and not get lost in the frill

have fun Smiling

Stores

Submitted by jennye on Sun, 03/28/2004 - 2:00pm.

That's where I'm limited in selection. Until we got our Hobby Lobby just a few months ago, we had no stores for scrapbook supplies, except the few things Walmart had. MIL and I were just talking today that we will go to Lubbock soon and check out a scrapbook store there that lets you try out there stuff. But, that's an all day, or overnight if we stay with SIL, trip, as Lubbock is 2 hours away. Also have DS18months, I don't want to leave him with DH and miss out on photo ops with his cousin (who is 6 days younger).

MIL and I also, much more as a joke than serious, talk about opening up our own store. That way we can buy all the stuff really cheap and use all we want of it! Laughing out loud I've decided I'll just put in my wedding cordinator business in there, as well. LOL! We'd be bankrupt within 6 months here!

I have the same purpose as you, Kitty. Preserve the memories and the pictures. Embellishments are to accent the pictures, not take away from it.

scrap booking

Submitted by diannej919 on Wed, 12/07/2005 - 3:35pm.

I am pretty new to the hobby. Can you give me any advice related to online links for free templates? I am working on a scrap book for my husband for Christmas. It is filled with things from each year since he was born but there are not many pictures to include. I would really like to find a template for a birth certificate, etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
