Need Guidance in Buying a Crockpot

Hello All,
I am a new member here and need some guidance in buying a new crockpot. There are so many models to chose from and I want to make sure that I make a reasonable choice. Does anybody have any recommendations on what brand/model to buy. I would like to buy an oval-shaped model (preferably 5 to 6-quart size). I cook for just two of us, but would like a larger size so that I will have leftovers or make enough for company.

MMMMMM Crockpot Cube Steak

Take a package of cube steak (I used 2 pounds tonight), flour and brown it. Place in crockpot with a sliced onion, and a can of beef broth. Cook on low about 4-6 hours. The last 30 minutes, take 2 envelopes of brown gravy mix and 1 envelope of country gravy mix and stir them with 2 cups of water, pour over meat.

Simple Crockpot favorites

OK guys, I've borrowed a crockpot to help while we have no stove and I need your best ideas. Keep in mind:

1. I don't want to have to saute anything or brown anything, since I don't have a stovetop.

thinking ahead for Thanksgiving

Assuming I get a small one that fits, can I cook a whole turkey in an oven bag in a crockpot? Will the skin come out soggy? I'd really love to avoid setting off the smoke alarm this Thanksgiving.

Crockpot testing day

I'm using my slow cooker for the first time today, to cook 'chicken stuffing casserole'.

I'm not sure the result is going to be edible, or that it will be ready before midnight, but hey! nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I'll let you know what happens.....
