I love living close enough to the ocean to make daytrips. We packed a picnic and set off for the afternoon yesterday after services. I really needed the break.

It was pure bliss playing in the surf even though it was too cold to be doing it. DD and I jumped the waves, got the dog wet, tried to fly a kite but it was too windy, got some salt-water taffy, ate an Elephant Ear cookie, and stayed to watch the sunset over the ocean.--read more

The felted hat is the Reynolds Yarns Pattern #82211, Felted Hats. (I have not used the website listing that pattern so I cannot endorse it, I just linked there because they had a good pic of it.)--read more

This is the little purse I knitted and felted for DD. It's the only thing I've felted out of the "Peyote Sunrise" color yarn that she uses, it felts up too scratchy. Haven't figured out what to do with the rest of the yarn.--read more

This is our Advent Wreath as it looked on Sunday, Christmas Day. We made it on the first Sunday of Advent in DD's Church School (I teach the class every fourth Sunday). It was lovely having an Advent Wreath made of real evergreens.--read more

Made some progress since I posted "Under Construction"--Yesterday, DH took off the rest of the drywall and removed some of the studs! Woohoo! DD loves running "through" the wall now.--read more

These are the play scarves for DD that we dyed with Kool-Aid in the microwave. Used "blank" silk scarves from Dharma Trading Co. All but the yellow turned out well.--read more

These were my experiment in felting from knitted roving. Yes, I knitted with roving...unspun wool, then felted it. This was taken before I felted them. The felting did not go well. See attached jpg. These have been sitting in my laundry room for the past year as a pillow for my cat. But I did learn how to do short rows from these.--read more

These are the wool mittens I made for DD last year. This is before they were felted and the wristcuffs added on. They shrunk to about half this size and are too cute! Except that DD won't wear them. They're "itchy". --read more

And here they are. The very first socks I've ever attempted. And, predictably, they suck. They may look cute, but in fact, they are annoying. To DD specifically, for whom they were made and who refuses to wear them. She submitted to modeling them for the photo, but has not willingly worn them since. She says it's because they are uncomforable, or "itchy". I suspect it's because I knit them too tight and they're too snug.--read more

"Something there is that doesn't love a wall, that wants it down." That would be me. DH has partially started to remove the wall between the kitchen and the entryway in order to make the kitchen more open to the rest of the house. --read more
