Description
John's favorite way to eat green beans! Most of the prep time is spent in the fridge marinating; the dish itself take only a few minutes to assemble.
Ingredients
- 1 lb green beans, trimmed
- Olive oil
- toasted sesame oil
- Sesame seeds
- hot sauce, like Tabasco
- soy sauce
- Honey
- 1 finger-sized chunk fresh ginger, peeled and cut into matchsticks
Instructions
Parboil or steam the green beans, just until they turn bright green. Drain or pull out of the steam, place in a bowl big enough to toss them in. Drizzle them with just a little honey (zip-zip-zip with a honey bear), then with about the same amount of sesame oil and hot sauce, and about twice that much soy sauce and olive oil. Add the ginger and a good sized pinch of sesame seeds (you can toast the seeds first if you like). Toss, check for seasonings, and adjust the soy sauce, honey, hot sauce and/or sesame oil to your liking. Toss again, let sit for at least an hour if not overnight in the fridge. Best served cold or at room temperature.
