Instructions
This isn't a real recipe, but a simple method to make "white" sauce to be used as the base for whatever you want(curry sauce, cheese sauce, vegan yeast sauce, gravy, etc).
Start the tea kettle. Then combine equal parts (typically 1/4 cup, but adjust as needed) flour (I use whole wheat flour so it's "brown" sauce) and oil (I use olive oil, but use what you like) over medium heat until it is bubbling. Hopefully your water is boiling by now. Reduce heat to low and pour in boiling water while stirring until you have the consistency you want.
Add stuff
. Keep in mind that the consistency will change depending on what you add. Being vegan, I usually add nutritional yeast flakes and Spike seasoning and then pour over noodles, or toast and veggies for a pseudo Welsh rarebit.
