The book that is changing my life

Submitted by Lynn on Fri, 11/28/2003 - 4:27pm.

The more I follow the advice in this book, the better I feel. All of my instincts--that meat is good, that dairy is good, that eggs are good, that fermented foods are good--are validated in this book. Since we started changing our eating habits, John has lost 30 pounds and I have lost 15, in the course of about four months. The food is delicious; it's no hardship to change to this way of eating as far as taste goes! The kids like it, too. The main drawback is that it requires a commitment to cooking from scratch and thinking ahead. The meals don't take that much longer to prepare around here, but I have to plan to make sure I have grains, nuts and beans soaked, vegetables and drinks fermented, broths made and so on. When I've got my ducks in a row, things go together very quickly. I can't recommend this book highly enough, especially if you have chronic health problems like me.

WARNING: DELICIOUS RECIPES INSIDE

Submitted by Anhata on Wed, 08/03/2005 - 10:26pm.

Lynn's right. The foods and recipes in this cookbook are delicious. I mean, really delicious. I'm consitently impressed with the meals I make from this. The mushroom soup recipe is divine, the baked whitefish recipe is superb, and on and on. And on top of all that yumminess is the fact that these meals are so much better for you than regular meals--the broths and fermented foods that are in so many of the recipes are dense with vital nutrients and rebuild your body's health from the inside out. It's all that and a bag of kim chee.
