ynn Siprelle is the editor and publisher of The New Homemaker. She has been a journalist since 1977, and has been making web pages [1] since 1994. As a radio journalist, Lynn won two Associated Press awards and was heard on National Public Radio, and her web work has been featured in national magazines like .net. She was webmistress at Teleport, the Northwest's largest ISP, and wrote the late lamented daily web column That's Useful This Is Cool.

Lynn made the decision to stop working in the 9 to 5 job market and refocus on home when she gave birth to Josie on September 9, 1997 and her whole life changed. Leaving Jo for strangers to raise was not an option--and it became even more of an issue when Louisa was born April 25, 2001.

She also calculated that the cost of replacing herself in the home--child care, more convenience foods and meals out, help with housework, not to mention extra costs for work wardrobe, transportation and so on--would eat up more than half her potential earnings.

But once she got home, she discovered she really didn't know what she was doing. Turning to research as she usually does, she found there wasn't much out there, especially on the web, for women like her--though she found lots of women like her.

She found women who chose home not because it was just what you did, or because they couldn't do anything else, or because their religion told them to, but because it was the result of much soul-searching. They were home because it was the right thing to do for them and for their families. And a lot of them admitted they didn't know what they were doing either. However long they'd been at home, Lynn realized they were New Homemakers--home for a reason, not for tradition.

And so, because she couldn't find the resource, Lynn decided to make the resource. You're looking at what she's made. She hopes you like it.
