Rug cleaner solutions

I am going to clean the rugs in my house with a 'Rug Doctor'. The machine is great but the cleaners are so expensive! Are there any recipes for cleaners I can use in it? I'm guessing maybe something with vinegar or ammonia. Thanks!

My friend used plain old Mr. Clean on her rugs with a carpet cleaner, and she said it worked better than any "rug shampoo" she's ever used.

Stainless steel counters

I am having a problem. We just moved into a house where all the counter tops in the kitchen are stainless steel. I can get them shiny for the most part. I have rust spots all over though, like where something wet was set on there or the kids spilled something and didn't clean it up or mention it! How do I get rid of those spots?

I love the new Mr. Clean Erasers. I cleaned my sisters SS sink that had Oil Base paint on it for months. She thought it was latex, and then couldn't get it off. I buy the super strength and cut them in half. Then take a real soft cloth and shine.

No, I'm not flirting with you, Wink is a rust remover that works well, but it's caustic, be careful and wear gloves, rinse really, really well.
