A Perp Walk I've Been Waiting For

Jeff Skilling is finally arrested: This guy was the head of Enron and undoubtedly (though at this point allegedly) involved in the financial shenanigans that brought the firm down. Why have I waited so longingly for his arrest? Because John worked at Enron. The company's collapse propelled us (and many thousands of other employees) from the middle class to borderline poverty. To see him, Ken Lay and Andy Fastow walk away from that debacle with literally millions of dollars was more than I could bear.

When people asked me what I wanted for Christmas in 2001, I always answered "Jeff Skilling's head on a pike." That's not likely to happen, and granted, it's a little extreme, but to know that he and Fastow will be doing some jail time and will have to give up at least some of their ill-gotten booty is almost as good. John always said there was something wrong with Skilling; he'd come tour through Enron Broadband here in Portland and would make John's skin crawl. Gotta listen to those gut instincts.
