Chemistry Fun with Pennies

Just did these experiments with DD9, who had a blast. We cleaned pennies, patinized them, and copper-plated a steel screw! We're leaving one penny in the vinegar/salt solution overnight to see if it gets really well coated in verdigris. Then explained that this is why the Statue of Liberty is green. And added a small explaination of positive and negative charges to clarify the whole copper plating thing. Very easy, very successful science unit!
