1 c. butter
1 2/3 c. sugar
5 eggs
2 c. cake flour (I use reg. flour)
yellow cake coloring (optional, I don't use)
1 to 2 tsp vanilla extract (or lemon or almond flavoring)
dash of salt
Beat butter and sugar together until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each. Add flour; beat well. The more beating the better. Bake 50 minutes, 350.
