Flybabies November, 2008

Andrea's picture

Time for a new thread guys!

Two more days of sitting around and then back to work for me. I'm a bit nervous about getting around. It will be interesting. I am curious to see how many people will offer to help me. I know my closest friends/coworkers will, but am wondering about the rest. It will be an experiment in human nature!

Need to run a few errands today and finish reading my book. I tidied the upstairs and cleaned my bathroom except the tub - can't do that. Hopefully my Mom will do it later -

See ya!

Wow Julie! Great to see you

Wow Julie! Great to see you again!!!

Yesterday ended up being more of a desk day than I had thought, and nothing productive really got done (except nearly finished typing up the fire department's Bylaws for the village). Helped DH rode machinery, worked with DD11 on her math. Four loads of laundry DONE and PUT AWAY!! Go me! LOL!

Today I VOTED when I took the kids to school (no free starbucks here. Unless I want to drive a few hours to get to one. Even then, I don't drink coffee). I wish I could just get this desk clean. So many papers from kids school, for my school, mostly for the farm. Farm magazines that we get and DH doesn't read, but insists we still get them.

I'm drowning here!! LOL!

Don't know what I'll accomplish today. I know tonight we will be glued to the TV.

Laters.

yea for new thread!!

jennye's picture

Andrea, I'm sure tons will help you out. Don't worry!!

Can't believe it's November all ready! Heard a Christmas commercial on TV today.

I have some desk stuff to do (invoices, news, blog for news, plan a holiday dinner for the village). I need to do weekly blessing, too. Laundry. I'm about caught up on all the mowing for the year I think. Haven't heard from the realtor about any lookers, guess the ones from Arkansas backed out. I'm a bit bummed. History test was hard. If I remember correctly, this professor graded on a curve, as does her husband. Hopefully she does for this class as well.

Have a great day! Time to take kids to school!!

Hey there everybody! So much to tell and get caught up on...finally have a computer I can post with. Will read a couple back threads and then check in again...sure have missed you guys!

Oh and...

julhome's picture

See, I posted and didn't even give myself credit for my TADA!

Swept the stairs leading to my third-floor attic apartment, and the second-floor screened in porch area left a disaster by the girl who moved out of the second floor. Swept the flight and a half of outside stairs that lead to the alley, and my garage. Told mom I got enough dirt to answer the "clean fill wanted" ads. Also checked/filled fluids in the car, restored hatch area to sanity, and cleaned out the cabinet in the garage to hold my open house signs and other open house supplies. Goal: carry as little upstairs as possible.

I get a little TADA for cleaning up inside last night. Only happened cuz I was having a Jafra party! Good grief, don't tell FlyLady. I DID think of her and her CHAOS while I was trying to get started!

I'm on floor time right now at the real estate office. Probably should be studying up on the listings in case anyone calls...

Later,

Julie

I agree...

julhome's picture

Wet swiffer is great for a quickie, but not for a "real" cleaning. Mom used sponge mop, which was ok, but I usually end up on my hands and knees anyway, just because I'm already down there getting into the corners...may as well just keep going. Lucky??? for me, my kitchen is very small.

Jenny, my eyes perk up when I see you posting about your realtor. I just got my license in the past month...will expand on that at a later time.

Feel better, Andrea!

Julie

Sheesh, what's gotten into

Andrea's picture

Sheesh, what's gotten into you??!!

My kitchen floor finally got cleaned this am by DH. He was feeling guilty I think. I resorted to tears last night. It had not been really cleaned for almost 4 weeks - just swiffered with the wet swiffer which doesn't work so hot.

Anyway, we are maintaining with laundry. I have SO much to do next week when I am out of the cast. I will need to plan it all out.
Andrea

http://blackcatchronicles1.blogspot.com/

I never did the swiffer

jennye's picture

I never did the swiffer thing. I have one of those Clorox mops with the liquid dispenser thingy, but I keep it in the camper. Great for the small kitchen and bathroom in there. But for the house, I need a good rag mop for me to feel it's clean. I can't believe you do yours on your hands and knees!! Wow, superwoman!!

I didn't get much done yesterday. Played with the puppy, watch some stuff the girls and I had DVRed all week (we like Hannah Montana and Star Trek Voyager. Oh, and Crossroads last night with Taylor Swift and Def Leppard together! Way cool!!). DH is out testing right now for the C-town fire department. Farming was so bad this year he's getting a real job to help it out (or a new hobby? Not sure which it is!).

Today, we are probably going to the football game (state quarterfinals). Surely I'll find something else to do, too. Already did a mile on the treadmill and my minute of pushups and situps.

Linda, where are you? How did the cheer competition go last week?

I am back to work today - feels weird but I guess ok.

I found something yesterday.

jennye's picture

I found something yesterday. The top of my desk!
LOL! I rearranged a few things and got the printer off the desk and to the side of it. Still got lots of papers, though (even though I threw a bunch away).

Realtor said someone from CA is interested in the place and flying out on the 22nd to look. So I have some time to get everything really cleaned up (guess those others just aren't going to come).

Jenny

TGIT!! LOL! Yesterdays

jennye's picture

TGIT!! LOL!

Yesterdays tada:
zone cleaned old office (kids livingroom). Vacuumed lamp shades, baseboards, decluttered it. Looks nice (til the kids came home and homework ensued). Actually, not too bad this morning.

I should do another room today. Hmmm...which one?

Jenny
http://heresyourtrouble.blogspot.com/

Hey there - Jenny, that

Andrea's picture

Hey there -

Jenny, that Clorox mop is very similar to the Swiffer I have. The hands and knees thing is something my housekeeper did before she quit (only lasted 3 weeks). The floor always looked so great after she did it, so I started doing it her way. It only takes about 20 minutes actually. Is there much competition for the fire dept. jobs?

Not much going on today for me. DD is at a bday party in the city and DS has a friend over. DD needs to pick up her GS cookies this afternoon. I dread delivering those. I did clean my bathroom.

See ya!
Andrea

http://blackcatchronicles1.blogspot.com/

You mean to tell me he

jennye's picture

You mean to tell me he hasn't mopped the floor for you!! (well, I don't think mine knows how to work the mop, or the broom. or the vacuum. He MAY can work the Pledge can).

Yesterday:
*three loads of laundry (still need to fold the whites)
*completely decluttered/cleaned DH's bathroom (as much as I could declutter anyway. Can't really mess with his clothes in the closet in there)
*girls and I went thru all their clothes, tossed out a few things that were too small or they didn't like (a boxful), boxed away summer things, broke out winter things.

Today:
*I think I have to help move machinery again. DD11 and I need to work on her math, and I would like to work on some reading with DS6. And would like to declutter/zone clean another room. Don't know what's gotten into me!! LOL!

Jenny
http://heresyourtrouble.blogspot.com/

Ha! He actually has mopped

Andrea's picture

Ha! He actually has mopped with our Swiffer - it is one of the ones that with the trigger that you spray the fluid on in front of the mop. It works pretty well, but I find that the fluid leaves a film which collects even more dirt! So yesterday he actually used the swiffer again but sprayed his own solution of vinegar and water on instead of the swiffer stuff. I usually do it on my hands and knees which is the best way I think.

At work, so must run - see ya!
Andrea

http://blackcatchronicles1.blogspot.com/

I KNOW you are happy to have

jennye's picture

I KNOW you are happy to have that thing off! At least you can stratch now, right?

Yesterday's TADA:
*swept and mopped office (the old garage we enclosed) Got it cleaned pretty good, all papers are NEATLY stacked (LOL!) and did get rid of a box of misc papers and junk to be trashed. It's some progress.

DH came home from hunting last night, so today I have some stinky laundry. There are no less than 6 loads to do today, because I didn't get any done while he was gone. Gone for three days and I didn't have any time that I wasn't doing something somewhere else. Today, though. He finally left to do some business in town and I'm alone. I'm doing laundry and will study. I HAVE to study.

Oh, and I think it's safe to say that DH got the job at the fire department in big(ger) town! They are just waiting on his background check (which we know will come back as clear). We are so excited, he's nearly 36 and FINALLY got a job. LOL! We will still farm and ranch on the side.

jennye's picture

Morning girls!!

Mmmm, dinner sounds good last night, Andrea!

Honey, didn't you know that you were supposed to let him grow up! Sheesh! (ps, very happy hearing you've been seeing someone! Please start posting more somewhere, I miss "hearing" your Brit self!)

Company came and left. I was up til after 11 making the burritos and brownies. Still need to cut up and bag the brownies, then I'll get over to the school and work the bake sale.

As for flying, I would REALLY like to tackle the paper monster that is all over the office. On my desk, by my desk, IN my desk! LOL! Hopefully can tackle bills, too and homework. 18th century is so...much. Five chapters of History to do this week. Ugh. Three of Anthropology. Double ugh.

Ok, time to wake kids up.

HI Guys - That's exciting

Andrea's picture

HI Guys -
That's exciting Julie! Good luck with the real estate! And don't forget to post your TADAs for goodness sake. I posted a couple "welcome backs" not sure if they ever got posted - anyway WELCOME BACK! Jenny and I are getting lonely! Heidi and Linda pop in occasionally - Lenora only rarely. Sometimes Jenny and I just email it is so darn slow.

Anyway, another day down - DD got her cookies - I ate one samoa - deadly. DH made steak, baked potatoes, broccoli, and salad for dinner. It was great! My neighbor called and offered to bring dinner (something Italian) tomorrow. Of course I said yes! This is the third dinner I've received and I have to say they have been real blessings. The first two were roasted turkey breast and beef stew. Both came with all the sides dishes, dessert, etc. It was so great to sit down to a lovely home cooked meal. I will not hesitate to do that in the future for friends in need. Just one of those acts of kindness that I will never forget.

Three days! I know you guys are sick of hearing about my d*!# leg, but I am really excited to get it off (the cast, not my leg). I talked a friend into taking me up on Wednesday for the appointment then we will go grab lunch - my treat. It will give us some car time to talk as the city is about 30 minutes from here. I am wondering if I will still need the crutches at first. Ok, enough rambling.

Have a good nite all!

Man, I forgot to record

jennye's picture

Man, I forgot to record DaVinci code! Maybe it will be on again soon. I liked the book (and the one that is set before it. Heard they are making a movie on it, too).

Yesterday was nice. Went to church, just me and the kids. DH had his job interview with the FIRE DEPARTMENT in bigger town. Then I hit the grocery store for the first time in 10 days. My pantry was nearly BARE, spent $200! Helped DH rode some machinery later, then helped him some getting ready to go.

Because he is GONE til Thursday!! whoohoo! Praise the Lord for deer hunting and male bonding. Of course, he won't get a deer, he didn't apply to draw for a license. I asked why he was taking 2 guns. "Well, you never know what you might run into". Better to be prepared. He had a cousin that survived a bear attack a few years ago, emptied a whole clip into that sucker and STILL didn't kill him!

Anyway, while I'm rid of DH, I may keep the bathroom clean. Friend coming for dinner tonight. Need to get stuff for that from the freezer in the barn. Also lots of studying to do this week. Hopefully I'll have a tada later!

A very tired Cheer mom

LindaM's picture

WOW!! We won first place at competition. In fact, their organization took all first places. It was incredible. I am so proud.

This six weeks is OVER! Cleaned classroom and organized late into Thursday night for party on Friday. Grades are all in. Whew. That went by fast.

House is in troubling state. Maids come weekly now, but it is my responsibilty to put clothes away and general tidying up. They still clean around the clutter. Laundry is still everywhere. Dishwasher still out of commission. Crap piled up on dining room table. Can't stand to look at it. DH has band guys coming over today for a practice, so I won't be able to pick stuff up. Still have a basket of Xmas ornaments sitting on table that never made it into the attic from last year!!! Too late now.

Backyard is still trashed. Fence still needs to be fixed. Have a tree that was cut down growing suckers up everywhere. No sod in front or in back around the pool. DH has got to finish the fence and bury the phone line. Can't stand this anymore.

Did even more laundry this morning. Maybe we have too many clothes?? Need to get a bag going for charity.

Will have to drag self to church this morning. No excuses.

DH took DS to a Marine event last night. DS needed a suit, so DH took him to buy one. They looked so cute together. I could have gone and actually gotten to wear a gown that I have only worn once, but was too tired from competition. DD and I bought Kung Foo panda and hung out.

Oh well, off to get ready for church. DD has cheer today, so there goes another 3 hours of my day. ARGH, no wonder I get nothing done around here.

Congrats to your DD and her

Andrea's picture

Congrats to your DD and her squad Linda! That is awesome - wow!! That's great that you got your class organized - now to tackle the house! Remember, baby steps! You are very busy, that's for sure.

I've been thinking about stuff, clutter, etc. I have gotten to the point where it really drives me crazy. It makes me feel good to declutter and get rid of stuff that is not important to me. I need to be careful not to buy new "stuff" unless it really speaks to me in some way.

DH is making shrimp/tomato soup right now and it smells SO good. We've managed to get some cleaning done today - laundry is in progress.

Have a great day everyone!
Andrea

Happy Sunday everybody!

julhome's picture

No church for me today, I've got floor time at the office (no calls). Oh well.

Greetings to Linda--I'm an old regular returning to the fold. Sounds like you have a busy and fun life there!

Andrea, you're making me hungry with all that talk of delivered meals! I've got a chicken tv dinner in my bag. Oh nevermind...

Slept till 11 a.m. today! Still trying to catch up from something...not sure what, but I suspect it's the lack of estrogen. Going for groceries and to the Y when I leave here soon.

Tonight's TODO:
straighten up bedroom closet
one load laundry
empty DW and do misc dishes
mending

Yeah, right, wish me luck. Going to watch DaVinci Code on TNT also. Was never interested before, but I do like Tom Hanks and I saw a couple minutes of it yesterday, and it kept my attention well enough.

Have a great night, everybody!

Honey, you are so funny!!

jennye's picture

Honey, you are so funny!! Love that you are learning archery (our jr. high is learning that at school this year).

Oh, see what I had listed to do today? Yeah, well, throw it all out the window. Called the tire place and found out my new tire for the expedition was in, so entire day was spent in Big(ger) town. And since I was there, might as well run a couple errands (banks, walmart for something I forgot yesterday). And since I was gone all day, I picked up dominos for dinner, and oreos for dessert. I'm lazy, what can I say. I will have to be up late tonight though baking brownies and burritos for the bake sale that was moved up to tomorrow instead of Thursday.

Oh, and I forgot to congrat Linda's DD's cheer squad! WTG! It was the scorpion with her blowing a kiss that did it, wasn't it? (I would love to see pictures some time! You are going to HAVE to set up a blog like me and Andrea so you can show her off!)

Andrea's picture

HI All -

One more day with the ugly black cast!!! Woohoo! Ok, I know no one is excited as I am, but still.

Great to hear from you Honey! I can't believe your DS is 17 either - it sounds like you are both doing great - I knew you would be.

Yes Linda, pictures please? What's the scorpion? Did I miss that? A cheerleading move or jump? I don't know much about it, but it may be in DD's future - not sure which way she wil go as she is interested in basketball and softball also.

Made dinner tonite with the help of my Dad - he threw the pork loin in the crockpot and added a little bbq sauce - lol! It turned out great! Shows how easy and cheap it can be to cook at home. I added butternute squash, salad, and pasta. It was yummy.

It is a holiday for kids and I tomorrow - we are going up to an eye Dr. appointment and then a bit of shopping and lunch. We are scoping out the venues for DD's birthday party on 11/22.

See you!

That's awesome Jenny! You're married to a firefighter!

Yes, I can scratch and shave and moisturize and all those wonderful things - I have to say walking and driving are the best though. Still sore but the incisions are looking so much better than they did in the first few weeks.

Hope to do some catching up this weekend -

jennye's picture

Morning!!

Yesterday:
7 loads of laundry (though two still need to be folded, including the huge pile of socks to be matched).

And that was about it. I studied some.

DH got the OFFICIAL call that he got the job. goes in next Wednesday. Wow, I'm married to a firefighter! LOL! I'm hoping that this will really help him with his weight. They encourage and pay for physical training (I'm assuming maybe a gym membership for him).

Today, finish folding that laundry and STUDY!

Yesterday: got to school and

jennye's picture

Yesterday:
got to school and discovered that some parents didn't send ANYTHING for the bake sale! There were NO cookies! So, came home and baked up a double batch of chocolate chip cookies real quick, and got back to the school to work the bake sale. Got part of a chapter of history read, and really didn't do that much. Was so tired!

Hopefully I can get some of that stuff done today. After I bake 4 pumpkin pies for the church turkey dinner and drop them off in town when I take the puppy in for another round of shots.

Andrea's picture

Let us know how it goes Jenny.

Saw a chiropractor tonight. I have been SO sore from post-crutch syndrome I think. also my gait is really awkward right now so that doesn't help. Sore neck, etc. Anyway, he gave me some tips and did a couple of moves on me! It was weird. He said I should be exercising but I can barely walk so not quite sure how to do that - maybe some yoga or lower impact things?

Chinese for dinner. I did clean my bathroom - lots more cleaning to do. DD's kid party is tomorrow in the city - Justice for Girls party followed by lunch. Should be fun!

Andrea's picture

Hi All-
Great choice on the lasagna Jenny!Yum

We celebrated DD's 10th birthday tonite with her choice - spaghetti with sauce, salad, rolls, and ice cream cake. I made meatballs for the rest of us meat-eaters. They were yummy! It was a nice family party for her. Her friend party is Saturday.

Besides that just the usual. It is 9:47 and everyone is in bed but me, so I guess i will get going!

My foot is doing better everyday - still trying to heal up the incisions and the muscles but it is coming slowly. TMI I know.

Andrea's picture

Enjoy that side Jenny! My Dad polished off my margarita bucket last nite - lol! Gotta get more - they are good even when it's cold outside. You are lucky with the Santa thing.

My Mom and I and DD10 braved WM at 5 am - never again - it was wall to wall people inside after waiting in a humongous line outside. Craziness! I just got a couple of small things.

Did some more flying today - cleaning baseboards around the house - we get a lot of dust from the forced air heat. Tomorrow we may head to the city to get DS a Xmas outfit - we may also test drive a car - looking to replace my work car.

Leftovers for dinner tonite - still tasted good!

See ya

I forgot that your DD's

jennye's picture

I forgot that your DD's birthday was the same as my DS! Hope she had a great birthday and upcoming party. Our lasagna was yummy!

You try to get to bed before 10? I can't make it before 11 most nights! LOL!

Not much flying for today. Bake sale (I wanted to make an additional batch of cookies but DH is home and told me no way). Then after school cheer practice for the jh squad, then cheer two basketball games after that for the elementary squads.

I WILL fly tomorrow, though. Realtor called, and prospective buyer from CA will be here Saturday. Cool!

Cake break

jennye's picture

Taking a cake break. Must eat all the birthday cake so I can wash the pan. LOL!

Andrea: yes, our teachers get most Fridays off, too. They might have to come in one Friday a month for inservice.

We have had four interested people in our place: one in MO or Ark (he hasn't been here yet, but still plans to), one from CA (coming tomorrow), one from SD (very interested, but has to sell his place up there first), and a local guy. The ARK and CA guys are vets and are interested because of our booming dairy industry here. Alot of the dairies here are from California. CA has too many restrictions and land here is so cheap, this is where they want to be.

Oh, and 1,141 acres are included with the house.

Jenny

I'm about sick of flies,

jennye's picture

I'm about sick of flies, too. But we didn't have them in the house at SIL's all over the food.

What do you mean there is no Santa? Sure there is, he comes and sees me! LOL! (all of mine, age 3-11 still believe. At least, the oldest let's me think she believes, and that's good enough for me).

Took the kids to church for an Advent thingie that you drop the kids off and parents can go shopping. I only dropped off 3, I knew DS3 wouldn't want to stay. DH, DS3 and I got some shopping done, but not much. mostly just looking and talking.

Home now. I'm alone in the house. Everyone else is out in the barn putting together my daddy's old trains (there was a guy at the mall with all his trains set up, DS3 LOVES trains!). I'm going to fix chili for dinner and study history today, tomorrow, and most of Sunday and Monday. With a side of margarita. LOL!

Jenny

Happy Friday, girls!! Love

jennye's picture

Happy Friday, girls!! Love Fridays, soooo nice to sleep in! (yes, I'm rubbing our 4 day week in! LOL!)

Ok, I didn't sleep in. Was up at the usual 6:30. But I haven't done anything all morning except watch some TV with DH and talk with him for a while.

Yesterday's bake sale for the Varsity cheerleaders went well (raised $393, to be used for cheer stuff like food for the Hospitality Room we do at ball games or snacks for road trips). Won both basketball games last night. Watched part of Ironman before I crashed in the recliner. LOL!

Today, lots of housework. Realtor comes tomorrow morning. My room is still clean (except for all the Power Rangers that are on my dresser, but that's easily picked up). Will work on the kids rooms, LR/DR/kitchen, and do laundry. Tomorrow morning will be a quick swipe of everything (I hope!). The prospective buyer isn't bringing the wife, so I imagine he won't look AS close at the house as she would.

Aren't shop vacs fun? LOL! Bet the garage looks nice now. I'm looking forward to having a garage when we build the new house (ah, someday...)

History test done. Yesterday wore me OUT! Fire Safety all day. Got my first speeding ticket (damn rookie state cop!!!). Final chapter in history then the test (a real kicker!!!).

Today:
*deep clean master bedroom (sheets, flip mattress, under bed. Everything)
*laundry
*bills?

It's Sunday again...

julhome's picture

...and I'm on floor time with no calls again! Oh well. Did take a friend to see a property she's had her eye on for awhile. Not really holding my breath, cuz she needs to save up some more money down. Could go either way, really.

Gma just called. Was telling me about the state of PA making her get a physical and eye exam before renewing her driver's license this time. She will be 90 in April, so I guess that's why. She would like to drive one more year. I assured her that I could take her for errands every other week, so she's tickled to death about that. Gma is a bit difficult to get along with, so none of the rest of the family will want that job. I figure if I volunteer for that one, I'll have more than done my share.

Linda, where do you live? All of your posts are so interesting, with everything you've got going on. Good luck with the landscaping.

Been tossing around a plan in my head to jump start some serious weight loss. Still thinking over the details, but it will be similar to what I did to quit smoking 5 years ago. Hey, if it worked once...

Have a great week everyone!

Jul

Showing the house went well.

jennye's picture

Showing the house went well. it was all clean (and I've threatened the lives of those I live with if they mess it up too quickly). Folks looking were here for nearly 2 hours (guy with his MIL). Said he may come back on Monday, was going to look at another place this afternoon (which our realtor didn't know about. However, the area it's in is REALLY desolate). Keep your fingers crossed.

I'm tired from all the cleaning yesterday. I think I'll veg today. Maybe work on History, another test in there next week. Bleh.

Hey Guys -

Only YOU would understand my delight at a heavy-duty shop-vac Jenny! Yes, it does look great. I would like to get the garage drywalled - it is a combo of studs and insulation right now - serves its purpose though.

Worked today - laundry done and put away. DH will make dinner while I go to Scouts with DS - we are going to "Girl Talk" put on by the County. Oh joy.

Still moving slow as a snail, but I am moving! Thinking of seeing a chiropractor to iron out some of my achiness -

No flying here, only studying. And more studying. And wrote answers to 9 essay questions, and wrote a 2 page paper, and took a test all in Anthropology. And I still have one more chapter of history to do before I take the test in it tonight.

BUT, today I have to spend all day at the school. Because it is Fire Safety Awareness day and I need to be with the fire department to help with the kids. It fun. We show them a short film, we make their teacher put on all the bunker gear: boots, pants, coat, helmet, airpack. We bring Sparky the Fire Dog (remote controlled thing that talks. Kids love it), and the town department lets us borrow their Smoke House (RV that is rigged up to simulate smoke for the kids to be able to not panic and get out thru a window, then call 911 on a phone (not really, but you get the picture)). This afternoon and tonight I'll get the studying done.

But flying? not today.

You are too busy to fly today Jenny!

My big TADA for the weekend is that I got all the basic cleaning done PLUS cleaned the garage. We purchased a heavy duty shop vac and DH vacuumed it out. It looks great!! Tidied up the shoes, etc. Still a few hotspots out there, but not bad. I do have a list of bigger things like that I need to tackle now that I"m mobile - maybe one per weekend or something. Things like going through our clothes, cleaning out pantry, etc.

Have a good day!

Ok, I think I'm getting

Andrea's picture

Ok, I think I'm getting it...is the middle word with an "ed" or not. Yes I am interested in language and its' use - even this kind! I have never heard that expression! Out here I hear expressions like - out in the sticks (boonies, hills). You hear talk of "hill people" or "country people" - hillbillies I guess you could say. Another expression is "East Cupcake". Why? I don't know.

Typical day at work - ran home and made 2 chicken casseroles and packed up a dinner for my friend. Drove 30 min. to her house - stayed for about an hour and drove 30 min. back. Her baby Peter is adorable - it's a cliche but you do forget how tiny newborns are - he is probably only 7 pounds or so! Came home and DH had our chicken casserole ready! It was good - weather was bad tonight - slushy roads, blowing snow, etc.

Tomorrow I am taking a sick day for a Dr. appointment - DH and I both have to go - long story. I hope to do a bit of shopping and also have lunch out somewhere. Kids are in school.

Laundry kept up - changed one bed today (DH) - hope to do odds and ends paperwork tomorrow and maybe some other cleaning.

Sounds promising Jenny!

Andrea's picture

Sounds promising Jenny! Great way to get your house clean, hey?

Up way too early - DD was having trouble sleeping at 3:47 - up and down - finally I decided to get up and told her she could too - she promptly went back to sleep so I'm downwtairs doing chores! Maybe I"ll nap later -

Lots to do today though -
Wegmans
clean frig (started this already)
empty dw
some quickie cleaning - baseboards
make dinner for my parents
maybe church
make dinner to bring tomorrow night for friend who had a baby!

We had DD's party yesterday at Justice - it was a lot of fun - I think the girls really liked it. Then off to Bugaboo Creek for lunch - they sang the birthday song to her. So that took up most of the day - went to Music Man last night at the school. Wow - it was awesome - there is a lot of talent in one little school. A lot of it is due to the director I know.

jennye's picture

What is Justice? Sounds like a great day for her. She probably couldn't sleep thinking of all the fun ya'll had!

Realtor emailed last night: the guy DIDN'T go look at the other piece of land (which I knew was WAY out in the middle of BFE! I'm just on the edge of BFE!). Was going to talk to his wife last night and let the realtor know something today. wow! I may be homeless for Christmas! LOL!

We are going to church today, then I think out to eat for lunch (to celebrate DH OFFICIALLY getting the job! He starts next Sunday). He will have Thanksgiving off, and Christmas day off, work eve. That's ok, though. We get Day (though Santa will have to do her thing by herself. I don't mind, I rule with an iron fist on getting kids to bed. DH would let them stay up til 1am!).

I desperately need to do laundry this afternoon, and work on History.

Graet news Jenny! Ok, can't figure out BFE - clue me in.

Justice is a girls' clothing store similar to Limited Too - I only buy stuff there on sale!
They do parties - DD's was a fashion designer theme.

Finished cleaning frig and did shopping - put away. Now getting ready for church - really tired though. I'll come home and do some cleaning and make my chicken hotdishes -

Funny how we leave at 9am for church, then don't come home til 3. LOL!

BFE=uh, well, there is a 4 letter word in there. Bum %$#@ Egypt. AKA, middle of nowhere. LOL! Guess it's a redneck phrase/acronym.

TOOLS

jennye's picture

huhuhuh (that's supposed to be Tim the Toolman Taylor. grunting. LOL!) If you have your garage drywalled in, it won't be long before you want to just make it another room. LOL!

My room is CLEAN. Mattress rotated, sheets, dustruffle, et al clean. All surfaces clean. Vacuumed good. Three loads of laundry done. All of the kids TOYS are out. LOL! Bathrooms all clean, too. Before Saturday I hope to have the rest of the rooms done so I can spot shampoo everything.

Also kitchen is cleaned up after dinner and I vacuumed LR/old office and dining room. And since I had it out, moved the furniture and did under them (found a few socks, too).

I'm tired tonight! Tomorrow is the youngest's birthday (three already!!). I'm going to run to town and get him a present (yes, with him. At least I'll know that he likes it), pick up some stuff for cheerleader bake sale on Thursday and get that all fixed (brownies, cookies, and burritos). Wonder if I can put off the inlaws til this weekend for a birthday party?

Time flies

HealthyMind's picture

This year went by so fast. Next week is already Thanksgiving! Then Christmas...and New Years! Anyone start their Christmas shopping yet?

Flies...long ranting post!

LindaM's picture

I think this is the last year for t-day at inlaws. I am a fly phobic. I do not like flies! I freak out if there is a fly near food. Yes, I do camp, but I have fly covers over everything! Walked into inlaws kitchen yesterday and they had all the doors open because they thought it was cooler outside than run the ac. There were at least 10 flies in the kitchen landing on the soon to be eaten foods. I freaked out. Told DH that I cannot eat anything that was already out. Told him not to take our fried turkey out until all flies were gone. Made sure all lids were on stove. Proceeded to swat. Also...Something happened in the bathroom right off the kitchen. The floor was freshly mopped and smelled of some highly deodorized chemical. I don't know what happenned, but the cleaner smell was not pine o pine! Inlaws already think I am high maintenance, but I don't care. I am grossed out. Fortunately, a lot of the mainstays were still on the stove. Went to put mashed potatoes in serving dish and couldn't get them out of the pot, they were like plaster. Got the milk and butter and fixed them. SIL was there, and likes to think she is Martha, but overwhelmed. She likes to take over the kitchen, but this was ridiculous. I know that my house is cluttered, but it is clean... There was also visible black lab dog hair on the counter! yuk!

My mom died from cancer 11 years ago. She always had Thanksgiving dinner. She always wanted to be in control. No food from the outside, she cooked it all. She didn't want anyone in the kitchen helping. She was a fabulous cook and everything tasted wonderful. I had Thanksgiving a couple of times once we got married, but let the inlaws take over since they have a huge brood. I think I will have Christmas dinner here. I won't have flies in my kitchen, and all my food will be fabulous! I will ban my SIL from the kitchen.

My dad was there and really has lost alot of weight from his bypass. Didn't really look too good. Can you believe he lives 2 miles from me and I rarely see him? I am way too busy, need to make more time for him. I don't really like the woman he married after my mom died. She doesn't really like me either. That is why I don't see him much.

Today I am might clean my dining room and drag out the tree. Really want lights on the house, but we have a really high point that our ladder won't reach. DH said call someone to put lights up. Yea, right! Money grows on Christmas trees!

DH is contemplating going to look at the beachhouse. Might go with him. Very concerned there might be mold in the house. We found out that they didn't turn the electricity back on, so have to deal with that. Still no insurance money, so fixing it will be out of pocket for now. That bites.

I think DS (11) still believes in Santa. DD (10) found out earlier in the year. She found out the tooth fairy wasn't real and said "So I bet Santa isn't real either!" I couldn't hold back my smile and she was mad! She was defending poor Santa to her classmates. She was mad that she was the only person in 5th grade that still believed. DS doesn't clue me in. I told him he needs to make a Santa list and he did. I told him that Santa may not get him so stuff and he said OK. No indication that I was Santa. I need DD to ask him if he still believes.

Drank my coffee out by the pool this morning. Hope the landscape guy hurries and gets that yard fixed. It is just trashed. Discovered some ant beds the size of small children. Put down killer.

I wish I could list all the stuff I wanted fixed, give the list to someone, go have a day at the spa, come home and everything be done. I will put that on my Santa list!!

Ya'll have a great day!

BFE!!! LOL!!!

julhome's picture

Oh, I just recently used that term and had to explain myself! Here's a clue, Andrea: if you get cheap tickets to a concert or sporting event, you will be sitting way up in BFE. If you go to the county fair on the busiest night, you will be parked way out in BFE. If you still don't get the translation, we can private message you. It's at least rated "R".

Glad you are healing up. When I had to wear one of those boots for a few weeks, I wore my snowboot on the other foot (though it was only mid-November) because it was high enough to make me walk lopsided, hurting my lower back. I LOVE my chiropractor! Usually go once a month.

Jenny--good luck with the prospective buyer. Where you gonna live when you get home? (sorry--lame 90s flashback).
Congrats on the new job for DH!

So today I decided...I'm throwing out everything in my house! Does that sound like an idle threat? Probably. I will make a serious declutter effort very soon, however.

Also, I'm glad I've only gotten medium-organized at my real estate desk, because my manager says we're moving some desks around soon, so I'll have a new spot. There are some part-time (phantom) agents who never utilize their desks, so he's going to move me forward and move them back here to...you guessed it...BFE!!!

Was locked out for a couple

jennye's picture

Was locked out for a couple of days!!

Prospective buyer came BACK today, stayed 4 hours visiting (without realtor). No talk of money, but lots of good talk about other stuff. Keep your fingers crossed.

Julie, oh LORD I had forgotten that song! Nothing like some Billy Ray Cyrus, huh? LOL! As for where we are going to live (in between selling and building our new house), I guess we will rent a house somewhere. I know of one place. Or maybe lease a single wide and put it by the spot for new house til done? Live in the camper maybe? We will cross that bridge when we come to it I suppose.

Andrea, I guess with or without the -ed. LOL! You would be amazed at the expressions we have (like: "colder than a witch's tit in Norway with a brass bra on doing pushups in the snow". Translation, pretty damn cold!).

I did the weekly blessing today! Really, I did! I dusted, vacuumed, swiped the bathrooms. House looked pretty good all day (then the kids came home...). Also 3 loads of laundry done. Not a bad day.

jennye's picture

Everybody getting ready for Turkey day around here I presume? LOL!

We are traveling to Lubbock tomorrow for the day to celebrate with DH's sister. My job is to bring the brocolli casserole and apple pie (and I think a pecan pie, but not sure). DD11 wants to make something by herself, like brownies or some apple turnover recipe she found the other day, so I may let her make something, too. That's hard for me. I'm anal about who does stuff in my kitchen and don't want another mess to clean up (plus the supervision. But, if she can do it in home ec class, why not?)

I also have laundry and history to do.

Finally have time to post!

LindaM's picture

Wow, everyone is so busy. Thanksgiving break. Yoohooo!! Left school last night and brought a whole cart of stuff home with me. I am not even taking it out of my car until Sunday!! DH fried turkeys last night, so DD and I went out to eat at Blackeyed Pea. I cannot remember the last time I cooked! We seem to eat out every night. We will go to Mimi's for Tday.

Finally got the new roof on the beachhouse. Replacing the siding is next. Guy came by for the check today and talked to him about replacing carpet with wood and gave him a sample. Also gave him a sample of granite for the countertops. While I have a person working down there, may as well get all the stuff done I want!!

DH finally fixed the fence here and buried the phone and cable line!! Grass is slowly growing back, but it is in desperate need of landscaping. Still need to find someone to hire to do it. Don't trust my yard guy for that. Need to call around. Maids are coming today and I finally put away some of the laundry. Still need to straighten up a bit. DH fixed the dishwasher, so the kitchen is at least clean.

My lab had major surgery. She was on death's door. Took her today to get her stitches out. She has been inside for the last couple of weeks and it smells faintly of dog in here.

Wow Jenny, congrats to DH for his job. If you sell the ranch, will you become "cityfolk"?

Called dr. this morning for a new hormone patch, so hopefully I will be a nicer person to be around. I think I was turning into quite the lazy grouch. Trying to decide how to spend my days off.

Two pies and one casserole

jennye's picture

Two pies and one casserole down. Dinner done, kitchen clean. Still a load of laundry to dry, and fixing to sit down with my history book for a while (think I may need a margarita or two to go along with it!). Dug out 3 plastic tubs of 3-4T girl clothes to take to my SIL for my niece. And no, I didn't let DD11 cook. Didn't want to fart with it today.

Hi Linda!! Y'all are busy! If we sell the ranch, no we won't become cityfolk. LOL! We plan on building on our farm (we live on our RANCH right now, which is where we raise cattle only. Our FARM is what we plow and plant stuff on. It's about 13 miles away, just 1 1/2 miles from my inlaws house).

We've been haggling over floorplans all day. Trying to decide on how big (to finance some or pay for it all outright now). We've been trying to draw some out, combine some, and lines and numbers are just running together now (another need for margarita. LOL!).

Better get the kids bathed and showered before bed. Gotta leave by 7am tomorrow to get to Lubbock.

Hi Guys -

Nothing like a little history with a side of tequila, hey Jenny?! I was still thinking you were looking at town. I like the idea of the farm better though. Excited to see what you end up doing. We will be townsfolk forever I think. I am too addicted to the convenience!

Got a lot of my pre-cooking done today - mashed potatoes done, cran. sauce, asparagus washed, some of stuffing ing. cooked. DH will do some tomorrow. So I am looking forward to a relaxing day with my folks.

Did I tell you we are going to a Bills game on Sunday? My first nfl game - pretty exciting!! I am going with DH, DS, and my Dad - lol. Yes we will freeze our a$$3s off!!

Happy Turkey Day guys -Andrea

Andrea's picture

Oh Linda - that would gross me out too! I'm sorry. You will make a great Christmas Dinner.

On the Santa topic, DD11(almost 12) found out the truth last year. DD10 still believes.

I have to brag - my dinner turned out great! I was really happy with everything - some old favorites, some new recipes - tried roasted asparagus, also PW's mashed potatoes (made the day before), and a sweet potato gratin. Yum! Still have leftovers - yay!

Got my hair cut and colored this am then went to get my brows waxed. Much better. Off to do a bit of flying -

weekend

jennye's picture

Andrea, What kind of car are you looking at? We didn't hit the shopping til 11, and even then there weren't many crowds. I mean, there were more people than usual, but at Walmart there was just one person in front of me, and only half the lanes were open. I think the longest we waited in line was breakfast at McDs at 9. LOL!

Didn't have that side last night. DH thinks when I have a "side" that he's going to get lucky, so I abstained. LOL! We are going to do a quick cleanup of the house today. I didn't clean the kitchen after dinner last night, and at 4am those dishes were calling to me. So, I got up and unloaded DW, reloaded, and did the handwashed stuff, refilled the water distiller. Was nice to walk into a clean kitchen a couple of hours later. LOL!

DD11 has a friend coming to spend the night, so we need to clean up before she gets here. Then I will study.

Jenny
http://heresyourtrouble.blogspot.com/

Tada... yardwork!

LindaM's picture

Good luck with the studying, Jenny. I couldn't imagine trying to study with kids. I did it for a little while and recall it was tough.

Landscaper's bid came back out of my budget, so I went driving around with my camera and took pictures of landscaping I like. Went to Home Depot and bought 20+ plants. Oleanders, knockout roses and a couple of palms. Cleaned up the backyard (3 trash cans full of dead bushes and trash)and called my yardguy. He is going to come and plant them all on Thursday for cheap. Looks good already with them just sitting on top of the dirt. Need to go back and get more, but this was enough for today. Decided now is not the time to plant grass anyway. Saw a lot of runners and the grass that is there is really healthy, so hopefully it will spread once the growing season starts. The ant hills were already dead. That stuff worked quick!

All went out to eat tonight. Only time we sit down for dinner is when we eat out!! Going to chill for the rest of the night.

Church and cheer tomorrow, then back to school. 3 more weeks until Christmas break!! Yoohoo!

Can I post yet?

Walked out of school...

LindaM's picture

I left school today at 3:55. That is what time I officially am off the clock. Never leave that early. Usually am there until 6, felt good! I am caught up with everything, even grading. Just a chillin' at home!

DH planted all my plants around the pool yesterday. Yes, reread the sentence. Not only that, but he also helped me rearrange the den. I am so happy. Xmas stuff came down from the attic and that is where it still is.

Drove thru McD's for dinner. I am going to put on my jammies and sit and fold laundry (2 loads of whites) and watch TVland. Made some peanut fudge... Yep, I'm going to eat most of it. Life is good.

Wow - you sound happy Linda!

Andrea's picture

Wow - you sound happy Linda! Yay!

I leave my job at 2:35 - that is my contract - I give it my all during my work day but then I am done. It is different for me as a psychologist. Yes, I count my blessings. It does give me time to shop (like I did tonite) and make a home cooked dinner (like I did tonite - lasagna). I am grateful for my job.

Not sure this will post so will keep it brief. Busy tonite with homework, dinner, etc. The lasagna turned out great - used the no bake noodles. Busy day tomorrow with stuff in the evening. Really need to turn my decor over from fall to Xmas but no time yet!
