Hi Heidi! Keep your fingers

jennye's picture

Hi Heidi! Keep your fingers crossed that our posts are lost again! LOL!

Brrr, it's cold here! 43 as I type this and STILL RAINING. Where was this rain a month or two ago when we needed it? Trying to HARVEST here!! About 5 inches so far (our annual precip. is about 12). Winter just hit overnight. AT least no freeze yet.

anyway, DH got sink fixed. Unfortunately, the pipes under the house are still clogged up, no chance of them opening enough to even try to run the water, and the plumber STILL hasn't called back. So, I'm worse off than I was yesterday. At least when there were no pipes under the sink I could use the trash can for water.

I got 3 loads of laundry almost done last night, 2 more to go today. Puppy was healthy at vet, got a shot. I'm debating on turning on the heater (but Thursday supposed to be back up in the 70's). DH is off playing firefighter/emt in town today, had to use 4x4 to take kids to school today. Boy, it's muddy out there!

Linda-you talk about the pool while here we actually had a fire in the woodstove to keep warm last night!!! LOL If the BB team is not a good fit,why waste your and DS's time with it? DH will just have to get over it. Good luck.

the apple picking and pie making actually can happen today or tomorrow. Would like my mom to come over when we make pies so may have to see which day is better for her. Should be sunny and low 60's today, perfect fall day.

For those who have trick or treaters, what are your kids dressing as this year? DD wants to be a witch(how original!) and DS isn't sure if he will since,ya know,he is almost 14!! But I get into it, and am always a witch complete with green make-up and a wart on my nose.

Have a good day

Heidi

Yes, it's pretty pathetic

Andrea's picture

Yes, it's pretty pathetic that I'm actually looking forward to surgery. I do need a break.
The shower went really well - we had plenty of great food so it all worked out. She got some nice gifts and gift cards.

At work now, so must run. Home to clean bathroom soon and make burgers for dinner after kids' sports practices.

Been cheering/footballing

jennye's picture

Been cheering/footballing all day. Won the game (Go Broncos!!). Made chili for dinner, been vegging most the evening.

Heidi, DD11 found a cheer costume from High School Musical, DD9 a really cute girl pirate. DS6 will probably be the Transformer Optimus Prime, and DS2 will be a cow (leftover costume. He won't get much choices for a while, if ever. LOL!)

Linda, look into getting a solar cover! We used to have one growing up, looks like a big sheet of bubble wrap that you pack stuff with. Kept that pool nice and warm! What a STEAL on the Dyson! LOL!

Tomorrow, going to church (all of us!), may have to help DH move machinery around. And tackle the house. Never got that stuff boxed up. Busy week next week, it's homecoming. Pep Rally to plan, stuff to find for the kids to dress up all week (theme is Olympics, with a different thing to go along with it each day. Like your favorite sport on Tuesday, and Michael Phelps day on Wed. where you wear medals). Cheer camp all day on Friday, hayride to the bonfire on Friday night, FB game on Sat AND Volleyball game Sat. night. Whew!

I guess I can! I posted several times and then the computer didn't allow them????

Lots of TADAs so won't bore you with the details. Had a ladies night here Friday and had good food, fun, drinks, etc. Gotta get together with just the girls more often.

Subbed all day today and will again WEdnesday and Thursday. It was almost 80 here today, feels weird with fall decor and changing leaves. Gotta get DD's costume this week before the selection is gone. She wants to be a witch.

Andrea-here's to a speedy recovery. Post away!

Heidi

Thanks Heidi!! Morning gals!

jennye's picture

Thanks Heidi!!

Morning gals! I think October is one of my favorite months, really. Between my birthday and Halloween and it being FALL (though fall in New Mexico is NOT the same as fall in Georgia).

Yesterday I finally got those shrubs planted. But before I could get the pansies going, I got caught up in a job on the computer for cheerleading, then sidetracked to packing away some stuff too small for DS2, which led to getting out the next sizes up, which led to reorganizing how I have the boxes of stuff that both the boys have outgrown, etc... Yup, I'm a SHE!! LOL!

So, back at it today. WILL I stay on task and accomplish one major thing? Stay tuned!

Actually, I wanted to put together a small fall quilt. Either a pillow or a table runner. Maybe I can reward myself with that later.

I wish it was my house!!

LindaM's picture

No ladies, I spent 5 hours cleaning and organizing my classroom!! Fortunately, I hosted my FIL birthday/family pool party. Called the maids to come back!! House is clean, but not by me!! This week has been he -- at school. The workshop that I was in required another 8 hours of crap for me to do on my own time. Dang, still not finished!! Last night was "Open House". Tonight was "veg out in front of TV night" My asst principal was supposed to come observe me today, but didn't show. I guess he will pop in tomorrow. Rained cats and dogs today and tonight. Pool actually overflowed into drains on patio. I will NEVER get those chemicals right!! DH is out of town all week and DS bb practice was cancelled. Cheer mom took DD to cheer, I was supposed to pick up, but her DD got hit in the nose. She's ok, so she picked up.

Found out my beautiful lab (9 yrs) has a growth on her leg (groin area). They said it is a non cancerous lipoma (sp?), but will cost $250-300 to remove. In vet terms, that really means $500. DH said we can wait on that.

Andrea, right now, surgery sounds wonderful!!

Jenny, I hate contractors!!

Ya'll have a great evening. I am off to watch something totally brainless on tv.

Morning All! What a great

Morning Guys!
Hope this works. Well, I never managed to watch DH - oh well maybe today.

My Dad is taking me out to run errands in a bit - gotta get one of those disabled hanger thingss for parking - life as a disabled person - for 6 weeks anyway.

The house is getting messy and I can't do a darn thing about it. Trying to figure out if I can drag myself around the kitchen floor and wipe it down. Maybe just dragging my legs over it would clean it up, you think?

Have a great day everyone!

Andrea's picture

Morning Guys!
Wow, Linda, life just never slows down for you, does it? Hope your puppy will be ok. Vets are so expensive! Maybe you can try to break a toe or something like that so you can slow down Eye-wink

Hey Jenny - is the hay drying? Any rain today? It's been raining all night here - crazy. Doesn't matter to me one way or the other -

Hi Heidi - yes, the flowers were very thoughtful. It was a combo of good-sized sunflowers, two kinds of yellow mums, big puffy burgundy mums, yellow alstromeria, a periwinkle blue flower with little flowers on it, and a few others I don't know. It also had a few sprigs of "wheat?" for a harvest theme.

My Dad took me to the Dr. yesterday to check the foot. They removed the splint and I got to see the surgeon's handiwork. OMG, this is something that belongs in a house of horrors - I was really not expecting it to look so bad. I will spare you the details. The nurse said that it looks pretty good though, so it is normal I guess. Put a hard cast on up to my knee, going back next week to take it off and check again and then another hard cast! I thought I would be in a walking cast so this is a bit of a mental adjustment for me. I think DH is a bit stressed by it all. It is just very hard for me to help out with anything. Trying to count my blessings! Counting the days too.

Have a good day everyone! I will be checking in in between reading, napping, and watching TV!

Andrea, have fun with mom

jennye's picture

Andrea, have fun with mom and dad while they are there! Wish mine would stick around that long. Or at least longer than a week!! LOL! Put pictures on your blog of the fall decor, ok?

We won the VB game last night. Well, Junior High won (2), Varsity won (3-1), but JV lost in two. Oh well. It was excellent game against our biggest rival. Both DDs had hair cuts today, glasses fixed for DD11, took friend home, got groceries and few other things (needed new quilt and shams for my bed, what I had was literally falling apart and most of what you could see was batting. Also two halloween costumes for the girls). Got DS6 on the way home (who was very upset I didn't him a costume, but since I didn't know what he wanted. Promised him if he went to church Sunday we would get him one. hehehe, bribery!). Home now, place looks a wreck. Off to do some blessing to it!

That's right - Heidi is always a witch!! We haven't figured out costumes yet, though we will soon. I love this time of year!

DH got the cornstalks up and they look great with all of the different colored mums. Now to get the pumpkins. Maybe tomorrow we will hit a local pumpkin patch.

TADA so far - WalMart run, sold GS cookies with DD, errands. Where has the day gone?

I'm off to mop the floor, finish baking breads for coffee hour tomorrow, and put laundry up. Dinner? Not sure. I was going to make a chicken taco soup from all recipes, but it is too late to put in the crockpot so on to plan b. Maybe I can just do it on the stove.

Talk about a mess...

LindaM's picture

My house is trashed. I have been a crazy woman with school. It is conference time, so me being the "let's get this over" person scheduled 5 on Thursday and 5 on Friday. CRAZY! I am so far behind on grading and this is only the first week of the new 6 weeks. ARGH!

Well, I think my post got lost about my Dyson story. Turns out that my $200 Dyson was BROKE! I didn't want to take it back, so I called all around to find a HD that had one. 2 left in the city. Took it and exchanged it for another. This one came with all sorts of attachments!! They did not charge me anything additional! I almost felt like a thief for getting all this stuff! I loved the way it makes my new frieze carpet upstairs look. It really wasn't that bad lugging it up the stairs.

DH is rebuilding the fence where they removed it for the pool. Other side of the house where the gate is blew down during IKE and the back fence really needs to be replaced. I think he is considering doing it himself, huge job... that back fence is long.

DS select BB team didn't form this season and is probably history. Most of his team got picked up by another team. In the meantime, DH didn't want him to be teamless, so signed him up with city league. Some of these kids have never played ball before. ZZZZZZZZ what a waste of time for my DS, he was disgusted with the team he got placed on. I sat there on the stands thinking of all the crap I needed to be doing. DS doesn't want to play with this team and I agree, however DH doesn't believe in quitting.

Pool is very pretty but too cold. Want to heat it up, but am afraid of the bill!! Need a heat wave!

Lots of things on my list this weekend. Too much on my plate!!

11-12 DD to tumbling
12:30-1 DD private lesson
2:45 DS to BB pictures
and
4:00 BB game with loser team
Grocery store sometime, been out of creamer and dryer sheets for a week, so big backup in laundry
Dry cleaners to pick up clothes that have been there for a month.
Grade, Grade, Grade
Pool store for chemicals
Garden center for grass to replant yard
Clean house. Science projects growing in showers and fridge.

My old maid called and asked if she could clean my house. Might have to call in for reinforcements!

Hey there -

Lady with cast, hey Heidi? Loving it! Unfortunately I don't think I will be trick or treating, but maybe I can answer the door! I could add some accessories, etc. for sure.

The pork in the crock pot turned out great. I managed to empty the dw and keep the place kinda picked up. I can fold and DH puts away. The kitchen floor will need mopping in a day or two - not sure who will do that!

DD is going crazy on my cast now Jenny! Having fun drawing pictures.

Off to watch Desperate Housewives online.

I decided yesterday that I

jennye's picture

I decided yesterday that I have alot of nick-nack stuff. But all is sentimental and I won't part with any of it. However, I packed most of it yesterday just to make cleaning a bit easier, especially with the place for sale. I ended up packing 6 boxes away (from all over the house; some from the master bed and bath, some from the kids rooms and bath, dining room and living room). Also cleaned the boys room pretty good, got it all sorted out again (though didn't get rid of anything in there). DD11 had to clean the girls room if she wanted a friend to spend the night tonight (volleyball games this evening, so I imagine we will go to those, too. Friend's sister is on the JV team).

Today, I have 3 empty boxes, I'm going to pack them with something. Something that we wouldn't need for many months, just in case. My expedition is nearly on fumes, I need to try to make it to the next village up to fill up (I've been driving the pickup instead. Dang, I LOVE that truck. Should have never got an SUV!). Going to call MIL and see if she would like DS6 to spend the night. He has been begging and the girls have gotten to the last 3 times.

I'm off to try to accomplish something.

LindaM's picture

Can't sleep. Sounds of traffic in the distance woke me up. Cleaned house on Sunday and it really looked awesome. Even the kids commented how nice it looked. DS agreed that mom is much happier when the house is clean. Did tons of laundry.

I am conducting an experiment! Right now, all the whites that my family owns is on the coffee table, folded. Let's bet how long they will be there. I folded them on Sunday. Sheesh, I will probably put them away my self in the morning.

DD and I got our hair and nails done on Saturday. DD got a trim and DH made ugly comment about her looking like a boy. DS, DD, and ME looked at him and told him that was the rudest comment. Everyone compliments her on her hair. Even DS thinks she looks cute. Stacked in the back and longer in the front. MEN!

Had 4 conferences after school yesterday. 2 today. We are doing so much in class. I try to get two grades in every subject a week, so it is a lot of grading. I think I am caught up except for math.

Pool chemicals are all out of whack. Pool store tested the chemicals and gave me a sheet of what to do. I am so freaky over this. I hate chemicals, especially Acid. Can't wait to get my electricity bill to see if I can afford someone to do this for me. Right now the pump runs from 9am to 9pm. Scary.

Still no insurance $$ for the beachhouse. We desperately need to start repairs. Electricity may be turned on this week. Still paying on the boat that is totalled.

Love my Dyson. I am a vacuming fool. Especially the emptying part. I always hated touching that dust.

Y'all have a great day tomorrow!

Linda-pools are great but expensive to maintain. We would have one except here it would only get used 3-4 months out of the year. In Florida, where I grew up, everyone has one practically. Here it is considered a luxury though. Hope you all get to enjoy it plenty. And your DD's haircut does sound cute. I have seen that style and admire it.

Hello to everyone else.

Heidi

Morning!

jennye's picture

Pools are luxeries here, too. Mainly I think because it's so dusty and we live in a dry DESERT. LOL! Still, someday I want one. Most around here have those above ground ones from Walmart. Or have them indoors. Someday...

Yesterday's TADA:
*finished English homework and took test
*did a mile on treadmill (while reading English book)
*washed and dried sheets and comforters from my bed and the boys rooms, 3 loads total (I HATE changing sheets on bunk beds!!)
*washed/wiped down all kitchen cabinets
*swept floor (no chance to mop)
*cleaned off all kitchen counters
*swished and wiped down bathrooms
*windows in dining room, living room and french doors in office.

And maintained in the rest of the house.

Today, I'm working on making my kitchen sink flow a bit faster, got a load of laundry going. But I think I'm going to indulge in sewing today. Haven't done that in a LONG time, took me 30 minutes to find an empty bobbin and get it wound (technical difficulties). Fixed DS6 favorite pair of underwear (they have soccer balls on them. LOL!). It's fall, I need some fall quilts (table runner, pillow). BUT, if I work on Christmas stuff now, I'll have it all ready for then. Hmmm... Oh, need to alter 2 cheer uniforms. Will have to wait for DD11 to get home to do that.

Jenny's town is great from everything I've heard about it. I love small towns, that's why I live in one! The sense of community is wonderful.

Linda, it sounds like you are whipped. What can you let go? I'm sure you are a wonderful teacher, but at what cost? Can you go half-time or something?

I am beat here. Not sleeping well lately due to a certain 9 year old girl. DH and I did get to go out tonite and I got vacuuming done. Just need to dust mop tomorrow.

Hi Everyone!

Hi Everyone!

Five hours of cleaning?! Wow, I'm impressed!

You guys are scrambling as usual Jenny. How did Homecoming go? It was a football game, right? I know some schools around here that don't have football, have a soccer game.

Well, my surgery was this am. All went smooth. I am now in a splint up to my knee and am flat out on the coach with my leg elevated. It feels really weird just to be sitting as I usually don't give myself permission to do that until later at night. I am already starting to memorize the Food Network schedule. I think I will like that! DH has plopped a loaf of clean laundry in front of me, so I guess I am supposed to fold that. I can already see it will be hard for me not to order people around. For example, right now the floors really need to be swept and there is no way I can do it!

Have a great week everyone - I will probably be posting way more than usual!

Not sure I can post so will keep this brief. It has been a crazy week with hosting church coffee hour and tomorrow am at 8:00 a shower for my good friend and colleague at work - baby type. Feeding 40 + people - I have help of course but I still feel responsible. My foot surgery is Monday so am gearing up for 3 weeks of down time. Actually kinda looking forward to it.

Well, the kitchen is a mess.

jennye's picture

Well, the kitchen is a mess. I was trying to fix the sink and I must have used too much hot water. The pipes in the wall (steel or cast iron) expanded, causing the PVC pipes under the cabinet to fall out. So now, not only does the sink not flow any faster, but I can't use it at all because the threads on the PVC were stripped out and DH has to get parts, but can't do that now because he has to rake hay today. I'm out of dishes, I think I may run the dishwasher but have it drain into the trash can, then I can dump it in the shower.

Oh, called a plumber to come crawl under the house and replace the drain pipes that run so slow. I don't think it's so much food gunk as 40 years of hard water mineral buildup.

I did work on the sewing. Got most of the top of a cute Halloween appliqued and pieced pillow (but I have no black embroider thread for the blanket stitched part. Will have to wait til I go to town), and now I'm doing a pumpkin table runner.

Load of laundry going (also had one yesterday that still needs to be folded). Need to go to town, almost out of milk and bread. But can't do that til I hear from the plumber.

Jenny
http://heresyourtrouble.blogspot.com/

Andrea, order away! All

jennye's picture

Andrea, order away! All that you do for your family, let them have some joy in folding the laundry and sweeping the floor! LOL! Glad the surgery went well, hope you get a speedy recovery.

Homecoming was ok. It was RAINING (dang it. We don't want rain during harvest!!). So we had to do coronation in the gym. Yes, it was football. We actually have TWO homecomings a year: football and one for basketball. DS6 wasn't chosen as crownbearer for football, so I'm hoping he will be picked for basketball HC (as his sisters and father all were). As for the game, we won 54-0. LOL! Unfortunatly, only Junior High won the VB games that night. We also stayed for the dance afterwards.

Yesterday we just stayed home. Inlaws came over, we had soup and cornbread for dinner.

I wrote a 2 page paper this morning and my english class is DONE! (well, a couple little things to do tonight for it). History starts next Monday. Got to take puppy to vet at 2 for 10 week shots. DH says he is going to fix my sink. We will see. I'm really not minding the trash can thing (well, except that now I have not trash can for trash. LOL!).

Hello all! I had a root canal today so stayed home most of the day that I wasn't at the dentists. DS was still at daycare though. I am just sooo tired. DH is about to go pick him up.

Guess it's working

jennye's picture

Hasn't let me post today.

Had a good day. Cheesecake was yummy. Came home and did a couple loads of laundry and some mild cleaning, dh fell asleep for the afternoon on into the late evening. Thanks babe. LOL!

Today, did 1 load of laundry, finished a pillow I quilted, put up with Dh and his worrying. That's a full time job itself. Fixed dinner, it's 8:30 still waiting for DH to come home, but fed the kids. Kitchen cleaned up (plumber FINALLY got back to me after I called the office again. Will be here Wednesday). Oh, DD11 got bit by two wasps yesterday and today her arm was totally swollen. Had to go take some medicine to school for her.

Just started raining again. Damn. I give up. I'm tired. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Jenny

We are at 72 now Jenny!

Andrea's picture

We are at 72 now Jenny! Crazy. That is a major bummer about your sink - that would drive me crazy.

Mom came over and cleaned some this am. DH is putting our new slipcover one now - long story - the first one we got had a defective zipper - stuck the first time. So I exchanged it. It is a brown microsuede and looks great on our sofa, which was just a little worn from animals and kids - it is in our family room and just needed some updating.

Heidi, I picked up DS's costume at party city the other day - it is a red devil - red dress with black leggings, tail, horns, etc. It is pretty cute on her. DS just wants a mask I think.

Off to grab lunch and do some reading -

Oh! I just got flowers from my friends at work - they are gorgeous!
Lucky me!

It's hard to believe that

jennye's picture

It's hard to believe that last week I was running the AC, today the heater!

Heidi, nope, not using paper products yet. LOL! I disconnected the DW hose and still using the trash can for it. Now I'm running it every day to handle all other pots and pans as well (though I haven't been cooking anything much. Last night DH brought home pizza). The plumbers STILL haven't called (and I have left messages and talked to the lady in the office. I'm getting pissed, but I don't want to break in a new plumber). IF I can ever get them out here, I'm going to go ahead and have them replace the pipes by the kids' bathroom, too. They did DH's last winter.

I finished all that laundry, but still two loads to fold and put away. Didn't work on bills yesterday, maybe I can do that today. The SUN is finally out (but 42 right now). Hopefully it will dry up this hay and we can get it baled. It's been a BAD year for us this year. I've got other things to do around here, too. But piddly things too numerous to list.

No word from plumber. I still have no sink working. I didn't attempt to run the DW, but I am going to do the sink full of dishes (pots and pans) and use a trash can under the sink to catch the water. That should be easier than hauling everything to a bathtub. DH was out baling hay all night, haven't seen him since 11 when I went to bed (it's 9am now). Poor guy, he does work hard, even if he is a turd. LOL!

I picked the kids up from school and helped him take something to the farm auction in town (actually, we took the villages 26 year old ambulance, which ran out of gas on the way). Got groceries, then helped DH move the tractor and baler to the field (which is 13 miles away, where we plan to build the house. That will be SO NICE to have a house there!! No more hours of roading machinery!). Then fixed those cheer uniforms.

Today: dishes, finish up that quilt top, clean up house. Call plumber and see if I can get an ETA. I have pep rally this afternoon. Tomorrow is elementary cheer camp (7:30am-1), girls have a birthday party in town, then hay ride and bonfire tomorrow night. Full day tomorrow.

Linda, I bet the house looks

jennye's picture

Linda, I bet the house looks nice after 5 hours of cleaning. I really need to do that myself. maybe I can get 2 hours of it done?

Ok, so yesterday in addition to cheer camp, birthday party, hayride and bonfire, I also had to help DH road another piece of machinery to the farm (the loader), bring him back so he could get the semi and begin hauling the hay he had just baled. Of course, the baler had a minor breakdown, so while he was hauling hay, I hooked up to a trailer and went to Texas for parts. I was exhausted last night and just folded out the hidabed and slept in there with the boys at 9:30!! On a Friday!! LOL! (DH was asleep in our bed at 8:00, didn't want to disturb him).

Today: homecoming coronation at noon, game at 1. And it's raining. Not good. Not good when there is hay on the ground. Only one field is done, 2 to go. Maybe it will go away. Still no word from plumber, and I need to do another counter full of dishes (me not home and DH stopping by resulted in many dishes). Better put the trash can under the drain again.

All that food sounds yummy!!

jennye's picture

All that food sounds yummy!! Too bad we all can't just hop to one another's homes to sample it!

We ALL made it to church (but DH protested). Ate some Mexican food afterwards, got DS6 his costume (he ended up choosing a Clone Trooper instead of Optimus Prime), and back home. I've done a little picking up, gave puppy a bath and been keeping a close eye on her while in the house.

Tomorrow a new week! Whoohoo!

Shortly after posting last

jennye's picture

Shortly after posting last night, I was hit with a Mack truck. I realized that I had HOMEWORK for my anthropology class due by 11pm. Including 8 essay questions, a paper, and a test!! Needless to say, I stayed busy the next few hours working on reading 4 chapters and getting it all done, while making sure all the kids were fed, bathed, not killing one another and off to bed. It was crazy! LOL!

Today, working on English homework, reading 7 or 8 stories, commenting on them at least twice in a discussion area, and taking a 40 question test by noon today. Don't ask me how these slipped my mind lately. LOL!

After I get those done, I'll try to squeeze in some weekly blessing time. And fold laundry.

I posted last night and I guess it got lost. Couldn't post at all yesterday, I was locked out of TNH. In fact, wonder if that will happen to this one. Hold on.

Andrea, I hope you aren't going to overdo it on your foot doing all that.

After we ran a ton of errands in town yesterday, I did some mowing around by the barns til I ran out of daylight. Not much flying for me. Oh, I had the kids clean out the expedition and my pickup. I had went ahead and washed the expedition yesterday, so I put on my new university parking sticker and my "NObama" sticker. hehehe.

Today:
try to clean up kitchen (dang it, I want my sink back!!)
shower me and all kids, try to do up three heads of hair (mine and the girls')
iron clothes for wedding tonight for all of us (crap, what am I going to wear? Should I go ahead and bring some jeans for dance later? Maybe I should just wear a western skirt with my boots?)
cheer volleyball games
come home from VB games, change, go to wedding in bigger town

That will keep me busy

LindaM's picture

Hope you have a great birthday, Jenny. So busy here. Huge rainstorm the other night so went on my weekly "pool water test" to local pool store and BINGO!! The water was perfect. No I don't have the hang of it, it is coincidence for sure!! Got notice from the flood insurance people and they are going to pay for $2500 worth of damage. That is good. We were expecting nothing! Waiting on the rest. DH finished fence at MIL, now he needs to fix ours. DD and I ate at the pasta joint tonight. Finally used $20 gift card. YUM! We have a field trip tomorrow 1/2 day to Outdoor Learning place AKA "mosquito heaven:, so that should be fun. I will die if I forget my Off, better go pack it now.

Woke up at 2:00 am and couldn't go back to sleep. Left DH a note and said no church, don't wake me, I'm in the guest room. Slept until 10:30. Life is good. Can't believe the weekend is over.

Nobama huh?? There's gotta be something that catchy for us no McCain people!

I did not end up mopping or doing the bathroom. DH has done a lot. I am still frustrated.
We just got back from an Applebee's Fundraiser for our local sports boosters. It was a pancake breakfast where the tickets are 5 bucks - boosters get 4 and Applebee's gets 1. The parents serve and bus tables while Applebee's staff cooks. It was neat - and yummy!

Not sure what the day will hold - I really want to finish the book I am reading now - maybe I will focus on that.

I hate Sunday nights!

LindaM's picture

What a whirlwind weekend. Hang in there Jenny! I was reminded today of your sink episode. My dishwasher was running and water started spewing by the faucet. There is always lots of water behind the faucet next to the tile. I thought it was my husband sloshing water around. No... when my dishwasher drains, apparently water is coming out of this dohickey on the sink, thus spewing everywhere. I realized that I didn't know how long this had been going on, so I cleaned it up, pulled out everything from under the sink and there is mold down there, so obviously it has been going on for a while. Yikes, DH is going to flip when he realizes he will have to fix it. Having back issues, it sucks for him to fix anything under a sink. He has really stepped up to the plate with DS bb today. I had the girls and he did the double header.

Let DD go to cheer friends house after practice and went to pick her up. Her family owns a really nice (aka expensive)furniture store, has a gorgeous house, and doesn't work. She invited me in to her beautiful home and there were laundry baskets sitting around with folded clothes in them. She had a big stack of mail sitting on her coffee table. I told her that she is my new best friend. Finally, someone who has laundry baskets laying around. I always think that I am the only one!!

We are going to cheer competition this Saturday and Sunday. They did their routine full out tonight and they are awesome. I was so proud of DD being a flyer and conquering her fear of heights. Love out of town competitions because I love to stay in hotels!!

Back to the grind next week. Not as prepared as I should be. Hope my heathens are nice and tired tomorrow.

Nope, ya just can't come up

jennye's picture

Nope, ya just can't come up with anything good for McCain that's negative (well, they tried with "McCain, more of the Same"). LOL! I'm going to make a bandana for my puppy that says, "I'm a McCainine". LOL!

Cool that Applebees did that! And you need to relax girl. Rest that leg.

Wasn't home yesterday, Friday, and won't be today. It's my birthday. Going to inlaws. SIL is here (for wedding last night, which was a HOOT!! DS6 and his dancing moves. Oh, lord). I get strawberry cheesecake and pizza. Have a nice day!

Happy Monday!! LOL!

I've got to fly today. No idea when those people are coming, but I need to be ready. Of course, always need a challenge: got three sick kids. DS2 and DD9 were throwing up all night. DS2 was in my bed, required a sheet change and was up about 2 1/2 hours with him. This morning DS6 started throwing up. So only sent one to school today (and hopefully she won't start, cuz I don't want to drag everyone else out to pick her up). So the challenge, keeping up with laundry, etc with three pukies. LOL!

I really have to get the house in shape. People are coming to look at it next week (Sunday or Monday) and I will be at the school all day saturday (and I mean all day. Cheer practice at 9, JH game at 11, Varsity game at 1:30, Junior carnival from 3:30-midnight, ending with a dance. Which I need to put together the music for). Sunday I have church, then potluck and board meeting, so it needs to get done today and tomorrow.

Linda, what stunts does DD do? My DD11 can't do many stunts as a flyer, she is too tall (but skinny). There are smaller girls on our squad. But she does base. We are doing a half with a cradle (both jumping into it and step up. Working on a quarter and half turn)(also doing a liberty while in a half), an accordian, shoulder sits for kickoffs, handstand into a shoulder sit. We almost have a full extension, but I'm not letting them do that for games yet, just practice.

I live for the weekends.

LindaM's picture

Got appraised last week in my class. I have a handful in there. Thought my lesson sucked about half way through. Was pissed. Class could not even behave while an asst principal is sitting in my room. They started talking and acting like Kindergarten juvenile delinquents. Got the appraisal back and I passed. They failed. They actually got written up in my appraisal how bad they acted, however, my management was good. Go figure. Maybe it was when I bent down and told one of my heathens that I will deal with them later.

Lots to do this weekend. DD has friend staying all weekend while her parents go out of town. They had sleepover bd party friday and picked them up at noon on Saturday. DD had bb game double header. Graded some papers between batting. Beat the other team both games. It was brutal. His new select team is awesome. Took clothes to cleaners, filled up with gas.. $2.10/gal. gotta love that. Went to teacher store, heated up the hot tub and let the kids play in there. Cooked spaghetti, baked cookies and did 2 loads of laundry. Barely saw DH today. He went by himself to company picnic so he could play in company band. Then he went to MIL to finish her fence. Finally put the gate back on ours. Back is still unattached. DD has 2 bb games tomorrow and DD and friend have cheer pictures and practice tomorrow. Dh promised me our fence would be finished tomorrow. (I am blue from holding my breath)

Ouch, Jenny, wasp stings hurt! Your dd is brave.

My Mom is coming back from a quick trip to OK for a class/family reunion so things should ease up a bit.

Yesterday: went to town for

jennye's picture

Yesterday:
went to town for groceries and parts for the baler. While getting DH some lunch at Subway, school called. DD11 had been bit by a wasp on Sunday and on Monday and Tuesday her entire arm was swelling and red and HOT. (I knew this Monday, but since she didn't complain about it, I figured it wasn't bothering her). By tuesday it had gotten worse, so I went to school to get her, home to unload groceries, then up to Big(ger) town to her dr. Who gave a shot and perscribed antibotics. Still, 150 miles I drove yesterday, I didn't feel like flying, plus I feel a cold coming on. sore throat all day yesterday.

Oh, but I did spend some of my birthday money and bought a barely used serger and Guitar Hero Aerosmith for me (while waiting on perscription at walmart we went back to video dept. and played games. LOL!). And I got a load of laundry done, too.

Today, plumbers are FINALLY HERE (well, they were, had to go back to town for supplies). I have some desk things to do (couple of bills, some cleaning up). Expecting first freeze tonight, so I need to go out and pick all the tomatoes and peppers. Also some homework, this History class is going to take a bit more time than most of my classes.

My back is still killing me. I'm waiting for the drugs to take effect (advil that is a year past the expiration date, but that beats the Tylenol that is 2 years past. LOL!). Then I have work to do. I've got the Hot Shot out (which is more effective than the whip) and myself and the kids are going to get in gear. Especially since people are coming to look at the house next week (we hope)

PODA:
*need some gas for the lawnmower, so trip to next village over
*I mowed the lawn yesterday, but need to mow the acreage around the house. At least 2 or 3 acres anyway.
*wonder if the weedeater will cut the huge weeds growing by the outbuildings?
*floor needs to be mopped
*more floor needs to be vacuumed
*I want to spot shampoo a few spots
*general picking up in the living room and other living room where the kids watch tv.
*take some already packed boxes of knick knacks that I won't part with to the storage building (aka the other house)

The girls are in charge of sweeping the patio, daddy's barn (picking up the tools and sweeping the floor. Not a small task, the barn is 40x60, but they can do it), and cleaning their room. The boys are in charge of, uh, staying out of our way and trying not to make a big mess behind us girls.

Morning! Was an exciting

jennye's picture

Morning!

Was an exciting night last night. Pulled off the upset over the 2nd ranked team in their gym in volleyball, but took all 5 games to do it. Whew!! They will play the 1st ranked team (in district) on Saturday, but win or lose we get to go to state tourney! yay!!!

But for tonight, don't know what to do! Go to a local church thing for a halloween dinner followed by hayride/trickor treating. Or, invade town to the north and trick or treat up there, THEN go to the football game up there? Hmmm....

DD11 was invited to a birthday/halloween party tonight. But I don't think I'm going to let her go to it. For one, it's in town (which usually wouldn't be a big deal because we usually invade a neighborhood in town). But she had a major attitude problem yesterday morning and it's my excuse not to let her go. Personally, I just don't think she is old enough for parties like this (invite said costume and dance, 6-11. Sorry, too late for me!).

I HAVE to do more History today. But first, my kitchen is in shambles.

Jenny
http://heresyourtrouble.blogspot.com/

Finished up laundry and a

jennye's picture

Finished up laundry and a chapter of History. Baked cupcakes and 2 loaves of banana bread (the latter I still need to cut up and bag). Went to VB game last night, Round 2 of district tourney. We WON! Play in Dora tonight, not sure if we will go or not. Hate having to pay to get in. I like regular season home games, we get in free since DH is school board and I'm a coach. NMAA games it's $5 each. But at least I get rid of the girls tonight. Spending the night at Grammie's. The university theater is doing a play, she likes to dress up and take the girls out.

Today I'm not here. Really, I'm not. This is just a figment of your imagination. LOL! Seriously, I've got bake sale for DS6 Kindergarten class, then his Halloween party. Which I will have to leave early to go to gym for pep rally. My elementary cheerleaders are going to do their cheer for it. BIG football game tomorrow night. We play our biggest rival (there), and we are both undefeated. If it wasn't Halloween I'd be there.

Have a good day folks!! Fly high! LOL!

Life is good...really!!

LindaM's picture

Why life is good
1. Today was a good day at school. My heathens are breaking down.
2. DH is out of town, so it's my rules.
3. Left school at 4:00 to take girls to tumbling.

4. And now the best one of all!! Came home and went to the mailbox and there was the letter from the IRS. Dang. My acct screwed up my returns, so I had them submit amendments. Could barely afford what I now owed them. I figured the letter saying I didn't pay enough would come sooner or later. I didn't pay them all that I owed them. There were probably some penalties and interest there somewhere that wasn't figured. Opened up the letter and it said that they owed me.. like a lot!! Flipped through the mail and there was the check!! Opened it up and holey toledo!! Not only did they owe me money, but they owed me a lot of money. Pretty close to 5 figures! OMG!! I figure something has got to be wrong, so I will deposit it, but hope not to spend it.

I am so happy. Life is good.

Jenny, DD goes up in prep and pulls a scorpion, points to the judges and blows a kiss. They have 5 stunt groups of 36 girls. She also does a heel stretch, then cradles. They also walk them around while they are in prep. She landed a standing back tuck yesterday in front of everyone. The moms were saying "When did she get that?" I was so proud of her. She was doinking around and just did it. Shocked herself! I really think they will come in first at competition. They are really good.

Have a great day tomorrow.

Our temps are back in the

jennye's picture

Our temps are back in the mid-upper 70's. Couldn't imagine snow out there right now!! (However, I DO remember it snowing on Halloween when I lived in Albuquerque in 1991).

Sounds like an easy day that you need, Andrea. stay off that foot!

DH had bought 5 gallons of gas and brought it home, so I took advantage and spent most of the day mowing and weedeating. Still more to do, I'll work on it again later today. I also got a box of stuff DS6 has outgrown boxed up and stored away, straighted the boys' drawers and closet a little, weeded out some of DS2 clothes, too. Cleaned kitchen last night before bed (nice to wake up to a clean kitchen). Unplugged bathroom sink (I guess the plumbers forgot to replace the drains on that one. I'm a little hot).

Today, I'll mow and work on that history (have to do it while DS2 is still sleeping. He discovered the Nick Jr. website yesterday and would NOT let me have the computer!!). Oh, and bake sale tomorrow. I've got to work it, plus bring cupcakes and banana bread.

Jenny
http://heresyourtrouble.blogspot.com/

WOW!! Those are stunts our

jennye's picture

WOW!! Those are stunts our Varsity girls are doing (except the tuck. The only tumbling we have besides round-offs is one girl can do back handsprings (and thank goodness she can do that, because NMAA announced this year that everyone HAS to have one girl do tumbling at state competition). But for a rural school, it's more than most in our division.

And yay on the check! I agree on not spending it yet. Never know when they will want it back. LOL!

Yesterday I got most of the blessing done: vacuuming main areas, mopping, folding that laundry. I haven't worked on History yet, and I need to type up some stuff for the church, so I think today will be a desk day. Three pukies were feeling better and I sent the school aged one off this morning. Not sure what else the day will hold in store.

DH and I started an exercise routine. We have been watching the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders show on CMT, and the last episode did Power Squad: 2 minutes of pushups, 2 of situps, and 2 mile run. Well, 2 is a bit much for us, so we are doing 1 minutes/1 mile run. I'm making a spreadsheet/graph of progress for myself. Hopefully I can start shedding some of this weight that has been creeping up since my metabolism left me this past spring.

Have a great Tuesday!

Happy Halloween

LindaM's picture

DD decided that she didn't want to Trick or Treat this year. She is excited about competition this weekend and doesn't want to eat candy and get sick. DS hated his costume, so opted to stay with DH and pass out candy. I figured it would be a great night to go see High School Musical. There were 3 families in the theater! No lines at the concession stand. DD also got her hair trimmed. Too cute! HSM was good. Very teenyboppy. DD went "yuck" when they kissed. Worst line of the movie "Everyone knows you don't take the girl with you after High School".

We are driving to Dallas on Saturday. Hope to not feel any earthquakes. A little freaked out about that. DD is psyched. I'm excited too. I hope they do well. I asked DD if she packed her attitude. She said "it is right here in my heart!" I love my little girl.

Hope she does well

Hope she does well Linda!

DD9 liked HSM3 also - she saw it twice already! I want to go!

Good luck at the competition, Linda!!

DD11 wasn't too disappointed about the party (darn. LOL!). She decided that a girl we aren't getting along with right now was going to be there, and she don't like any of the boys in her class, so all was well. We ended up going to P-town to the Church of Christ and did a "Trunk or Treat". We knew alot of people there anyway. Stopped by the fire station (they had the good candy there!), my inlaws for more good candy and popcorn balls. DS6 decided he wanted to stay the night, so the rest of us went to the football game in M-town.

Which was horrible. Very one-sided calling, the refs were terrible, our star quarter back got ejected on a personal foul and will miss next week's playoff game. Things never seem quite fair whenever we play at this town. And I really mean that. That school wants to win by whatever means necessary.

Anyway, on to better things. Mowing and history, with a load of laundry thrown in. And I hope to get the girls to weed out a few things from their drawers and closet. At least before I take DD11 out to the field to help daddy. He needs her to drive the pickup for him. (yes, you read that right).
