TADA: vacuum most of theTADA: Andrea, glad the new dog is working out good. I've been looking online for a puppy. If I can get rid of the two I have (note: they are pit bull mixed that were dumped in the country close by. Sweet now, but after DS2 was attacked by another dog a few weeks ago, I'm not taking any chances keeping these. I want a just weaned puppy, hopefully golden retriever, that can grow up with him and he won't be afraid of). Jo, the drought had us very worried this year. First we got our planting rain late, then it took a little while to get another rain after that. But we are doing ok now. Need some good hot days to make that hay grow a bit more, we will be cutting in about a month. IF ya'll want to take a look at the listing on our place, here ya go: Good Evening! TADA morningGood Evening! TADA Planted some ornamental grasses in the front yard on Saturday. I love to watch them sway in the breeze. I need to get some mums for the front porch this week too. It feels like fall a bit here. Some trees are already turning too. I would like to go apple picking this year. We have never done it and I think it would be fun. Hopefully I will sub this week. It has been slow since it is the beginning of the year. I have only subbed 2 times since school started on the 25th. Hope you guys have a good night Heidi Can I post yet? This not being able to post stuff is getting very frustrating! I need you girls!! Tada this last week: Gosh, I can't even think of anything else. So here is what is lined up tomorrow (I'll post it tonight, the site may not let me in tomorrow!): Boys are bathed, girls are taking showers now. I've got a terrible head cold, all stuffed up and miserable. I hope it goes away before the week really starts. Drugs aren't helping it any, either. Rats. Lots going onSo busy with school and DD cheer. Keeping an eye on Ike. We have dodged several bullets, but I have a feeling about this one. Spent the weekend at the beach and thought of all the improvements I could make! The pool is coming along and looks beautiful. Dad was readmitted to hospital for fluid around the lungs. Spent yesterday evening visiting him. TADA Need to grade papers tonight to send home tomorrow. Good Evening! Linda-hope IkeGood Evening! Linda-hope Ike leaves you alone. I lived through hurricanes when I lived in the South and they are miserable. Good thoughts your way for a speedy recovery for your dad. TADA PODA Heidi ![]() Hi Everyone! You are on theHi Everyone! You are on the ball with the mums Heidi! Have fun with your mom, etc. Jenny! You are one busy lady Linda - best wishes with your Dad (and Ike). ![]() HolaTADA PODA I've been flying really well lately, shiny sink-yippee! But, I've also been trying to get up a little after five in order to get a walk in and still get the kids up and get showered and to work on time. I'm exhausted. So, I had this crazy thought-Why can't DH get the kids up and fed in the morning? They're his kids too, and he should be d@*n happy I'm exercising. He's also going to have to choose on Tuesdays and Thusdays-make dinner or take DS to soccer practice, cause I can't do both! So There. -Jo, aka Bad Attitude Betty Good Evening! TADA morningGood Evening! TADA PODA In the wallet I bought at the thrift store, there was some Canadian money! I called my bank and they will exchange it there. It will be about $5. It pays to check purses and wallets at thrift stores....you never know! I am subbing half a day tomorrow from 11-3:30. Dd has gymnastics at 5:30 and DS's school Open House is at 7pm. DH will probably take DD to gym. so I can make it to Open House on time. So far I am not working Friday. May watch a friend's kid for a few hours while she has a meeting. Have a good night guys! Heidi evacuationThe kids and I evacuated to San Antonio to wait out the storm. I left in a mild state of frustration. DH stayed behind because... Decided to play in golf tournament today instead of get house ready... Now he is busting butt to get our home secured **Filled up one propane tank. **unearthed the generator, but didn't feel like getting gas yesterday. Dang, where are the gas cans?? Went to buy gas cans (was a victim of price gouging)and then sat in line to buy gas for the generator. He has a diesel truck, so he isn't concerned about running low on truck fuel. Dang... let friend borrow all our hurricane clips. Now what!! I was more concerned about the wind, oh well. I have a feeling our house in Galveston will be toast. Hopefully we won't get damage to our house here. ![]() Oh Linda! I was thinking ofOh Linda! I was thinking of you this am and wondering what you were doing. It does sound like Galveston will be hit hard. Good luck with everything! Busy week but things went pretty smooth. Trying to do some cleaning after work - more football this weekend! Hi Becky! See ya - Good Afternoon! TADA morningGood Afternoon! TADA PODA Heidi Linda, we have been watchingLinda, we have been watching Ike all week and been thinking about you. Hope you get home soon and find everything is ok!! Let us know as soon as you can! Was a busy week here. My mother, gram and aunt all flew in, ended up having to stay an extra day because of Ike (airport cancellations in Houston affected their flight from ABQ). But we reluctantly let them leave this morning. Made it to church today, ready to take a nap this afternoon and just kinda chill. The week was busy with football games, cheer practices, cleaning the house (someone from South Dakota flew down to look at it), looking at some possibilities of what we may do if this place sells. Busy. But, back to the grind this week! I have a TON of homework to do for my classes, bills to figure and pay, yearlings to haul off to the auction sale, parent/teacher conferences this week, not to mention the laundry and more housework. I better do some flying this week. good Morning! TADA morninggood Morning! TADA PODA Linda-hope everything is ok. Hi Becky! What's new with you all? Hi Everyone! We lost power around dinnertime last night and it was restored at 5:30am this morning, much to DS's chagrin. If not,we would have had a wind day instead of a snow day!! Lots of debris to pick up in my yard, but thankfully no damage. The house across the street had a pine tree uproot and fall on their garden fence but that is the worst of things here. Hey,isn't Jamielea in Texas??? Anyone know if she was affected by IKe? well, off I go. Have a good day guys. Heidi Morning gals! Heidi,Morning gals! Heidi, exciting about getting braces off! I remember when I got mine off, my teeth felt like slime all day, was weird getting used to no metal mouth. LOL! Jamie Lea is in San Antonio, she said they weren't hit at all, barely got a drop of rain. I have so much to do this week! I'm going to try to work inside today. Much laundry to do (crap, out of fabric softener!), and weekly blessing. Lots of deskwork: bills for the month, news columns, cheer stuff, blogs to update, and most of all HOMEWORK for both of my classes. I sure hope DS2 cooperates. Hey gals! I got a load ofHey gals! I got a load of laundry done (sheets) and changed my bed yesterday, and the rest of the day was spent on reading and homework. And still more today. I fell way behind, time just goes too fast!! so, more book work and deskwork (bills) today. I'll try to throw in a load of laundry in the mix, too. But flying. HA! I did keep the kitchen clean all day and after dinner, so that's something. power finally on...Yikes. Pays to be prepared for sure!! Left for San Antonio on Thursday, spent the night until Saturday. DH said it was a doozy around here. Came back to no electricity. Fortunately, we have a generator, so that was up and running. Fuel was in short supply, but we were able to get it. Power finally came back on today. Did ironing on generator!! Filled up the dishwasher, so it was ready to go. Vacuumed immediately when the power came up. Cleaned DS room and finally (after a year) found the mold smell in his room. It was an old baseball he had in a container under his bed. Must have gotten wet and ended up in his room. I swear, he will be one of those people they find buried underneath stuff in their apartment. We keep seeing glimpses of our house on the west end of Galveston. I think we were spared damages. They opened up a go and see, but we are going to hold off for a couple of days. We don't go back to school until Monday!! I am excited, since I sure could use a dr. appointment to see why my finger still hurts. ![]() Hi All - Glad you are okHi All - Glad you are ok Linda! That looked pretty scary. We had remnants of Ike late Sunday night - mostly high winds. My kids had a power outage day!! Hi Heidi! DS must be excited to be brace-free! I think that is what is coming soon for my DS. Hi Jenny! Gosh, do you think you are busy enough?! How are the house plans coming? Busy here, but things are going smooth. DD and I are off to the school tonite to rent a saxaphone for her. Yes, she is joining band! I was in band for all of my school years. I hope she likes it! Maintaining mostly - dishes are done everyday and one load of laundry. Sweeping and vacuuming in between. Heavier cleaning on the weekends. Hopefully this will work! The above post should beThe above post should be read with a really whiney voice. Like, "Are we there yet!!??" We went to Amarillo to get our new puppy today. Cute is an understatement. So is sweet, snuggly, cuddly, and silky soft. She is the sweetest, softest puppy I have ever seen! We are enjoying her. Flying. Ha! Well, the kitchen has stayed clean. Between homework and new house stuff and bake sale (made $456 for the 6th grade class. Goes towards field trip to Carlsbad in the Spring) and parent/teacher conferences (all kids doing great. Girls are on a/b honor roll right now, but I'm hoping they will still make A honor roll). I have a 2 page paper to write for my english class tomorrow. Plus church. Plus meeting architech guy after lunch. Can I be away from the new puppy that long? (whose name is Scarlett, she is a reddish Golden Retriever) ![]() Awwwwww! She sounds greatAwwwwww! She sounds great Jenny! How old? How is the housetraining going? What about the two pups you "adopted"? Busy here - football game today. DS is having fun but his team stinks!! It was not organized well and one team is way better and bigger than the other! We are halfway through thank goodness. I did a LOT of cleaning today. Mostly done. Shopped also and did some decluttering in DD's room. I may try to strip and stain a table (desk) in her room tomorrow or else just read. Church first. See you! Andrea: those other twoAndrea: those other two puppies, the ones that were dumped at the inlaws. Well, come to find out they were part pit bull. I couldn't have any of that, so DH took them to the pound. The guy said there shouldn't be a problem finding homes for them, he had a waiting list for puppies. Amazing the amount and need for pit bulls. Scarlett is 7 weeks old. We have never had a dog in the house and likely DH won't let her stay in for long. But I'm insisting tonight (it's raining, and she is lonely without mom, dad, and her 9 brothers and sisters). So far she has been good about going potty when outside. Mostly she has slept today. It took us 3 hours to get home (had to stop at Walmart, DH decided he wanted steak for dinner and we had none) and not one accident in the car. But we will see if we get far on housetraining. I'm hopeful I can keep her in the house a bit more than we did the last dog (which was, uh, never). New week!Morning gals!! Every had a good weekend I hope? I spent the weekend (well, Sunday) with a puppy on my lap watching tv. Well, not ALL day. Saw a couple of interesting shows on DIY (25 biggest real estate mistakes. Most of which really doesn't apply to selling a ranch; Sweat Equity, where they went 3x over their budget) and I think Style network (The Messiest House in the World. Oy, it was messy!! Makes me feel better now! LOL!). But I do realize that I have too much personal stuff hanging out and maybe I should start to pack some things up anyway. Like my craft closet, to at least make it presentable. Then we watched The 750 pound Man (could have been 650. Not sure). Was sad, he died. I'm not going to try to understand extreme obesity, but I would think that if it got to the point where you couldn't get out of bed, or walk, or put on clothes, that would be a clue to himself and family members to get help NOW. Made me feel skinny though (I have 15 pounds I still want to lose, and I lost 2 this last week, so yay for me!). I'm attempting to not drink cokes at home. I've quit buying them. I've got the tylenol ready, that was my caffiene every day and I don't drink coffee. Anyway, I can't think about that now. I have a 2 reaction page paper due at noon and I haven't begun on it. Plus some yard work that REALLY needs to be done, and laundry, and run the DW, and write my news column. And the cutest little puppy that needs holding (yes, she is still in the house!! I cannot believe that she hasn't had an accident yet. She is so good!!!) Good Evening! TADA morningGood Evening! TADA Scarlett sounds like a sweetie! Enjoy her. Have a pleasant night guys Heidi Not flying! The pool is done!! Yippee. It is beautiful. I took my first dive in today. It was a little chilly, but really felt great. I will enjoy it next summer when I am home every day. I would love teaching if it was not so much work. I would love to have the same hours as the kids. Had to have a couple of "come to Jesus" meetings with my class. I have come home exhausted. We have so much to do being out a week. It is almost like starting over with the discipline. House is back to being a wreck, however, we supplied an extension cord from our generator to our neighbors during the power outtage and they gave ua a $100 gift card to Home Depot. Cool. I am putting it in my Dyson fund. Finally forked over the cash to the IRS, so now I am on a strict budget for a while. Trying to get the house in Galveston looked at, but the adjusters are taking their time. Roofing company wants $1300 just to blue tarp the roof. State Farm called today and wanted us to get an estimate on what it would cost to repair the boat. I laughed. The boat is upside down in the lift and has a 6 foot hole in the side. The engine comparment has been under water for a week. I have a feeling all that mess is going to be one big headache. Thank God DH is dealing with it. testing,I don't know what's going on here, but I had a post up the other day after my test above and guess it got ate. Lost in Cyberspace somewheres. Linda, sorry about the boat. Hope insurance straightens everything out on the beach house. Been a busy week! I've gotten tons done around here, but after 4 previous attempts to post it here, I'm tired and don't want to type it all out again. Let's just say the yard is looking good after weeding, mowing, pruning, sawing. I cleaned out the craft closet yesterday. Cleaned most of the kitchen, including a nasty looking fridge with science projects and have about got rid of all the fruit flies (bad thing about a garden, fruit flies love all the produce). Today, I want to work on my desk, pantry, maybe even dive into my closet (too much stuff on the floor). Would like to maybe plant some pansies and work a bit more on some outside stuff, too. Good Afternoon! TADA morningGood Afternoon! TADA PODA Subbed a few days this past week,so it is starting to pick up,which is good. Linda-yay on the pool, how fun! Jenny-please keep posting. There are only a few of us left here to begin with!!! Have a good one Heidi I have a Dyson!!ok, so much for my strict budget!! Honestly, I went to Home Depot today for a rubbermaid container for outside to put all the pool crap in and thought I would just walk down the vacuum isle to see what was there. Well.... the floor model of the Animal was there in all it's purple glory with a big yellow sticker on it... LAST ONE. It was marked down from $547 to $397. The manager walked by and we talked about it. I asked if they would come down any on the price. It did look like it had taken a couple of trips around the store. He said, "I'll give it to you for $200." DANG, SOLD!!! I even got the 1 year extended warranty on it. I am doing the happy dance. I am going to go vacuum.... Happy Monday! LOL! Linda,Happy Monday! LOL! Linda, so how do you like your Dyson!? Great price!! Wow! Had my usual lazy Sunday. We (the girls) went to church and Sunday School (they just started a young couples class, so I tried it). Had admin board meeting afterwards, then we met the architech-sorta guy about the changes we wanted to make to the houseplan we liked the most (ok, DH liked the most. I can't have the ones I liked the most because they are 2 story and it costs more here to go up). After we got home we just kinda vegged, watched TV, played legos (kids and DH, not me), colored a picture (me, not DH. I hate coloring, though). Snacked for dinner. New day. I have the DW going and cleaned the kitchen this morning. Have some homework to do and turn in this morning, then I need to work on some decluttering more. Weekly blessing. Planting those things I haven't done yet. Will be a busy day. Wonder if I can get squeezed in for a haircut. It's only been since last December since I had one. Monday's are pretty slow at the beauty shop. Hmmm... Will DS2 behave in there? ![]() That was a very smartThat was a very smart purchase you made there Linda! Budget or no budget, you will not regret the Dyson. Way to go on the negotiating. I have the basic yellow Dyson - had to have it repaired once but still works great after 4 years or so. Hanging in there - wish I had more time to do those extra jobs - but I am maintaining by doing some cleaning on the weekends. I am having foot surgery in a couple weeks - I think I already said that - so maybe I can get some stuff done then. I will be out of work for 3 weeks. PODA today: See ya! Good Afternoon! TADA morningGood Afternoon! TADA PODA No school tomorrow here. Kids have dental checkups and DS will get a haircut too, then I'll take them out to lunch. Jenny-did you get your haircut? Heidi Man, I didn't get anythingMan, I didn't get anything done yesterday! I managed haircut and a few necessary groceries to last the week (milk, bread, diapers, slimfast). Haircut: layered and much shorter, like 8 inches shorter. I can barely put it in a ponytail. Not sure I like it, but everyone else seems to. I'll be happier when it's a little bit longer. I needs me a ponytail! LOL! I did get homework done yesterday. I have some catching up to do in Anthropology, he doesn't have stuff due weekly, but like every three weeks. I have a hard time keeping up with it all. Today: all I didn't get done yesterday, and then some. LOL! TADA morning routine readTADA PODA Heidi Post new comment |
