Ice Cream
I've never made ice cream before. Does anyone have any good ice cream recipes? Also, I don't have an official ice cream maker so I was wondering if a regular blender would work just as well?

Kick the can
I haven't made ice cream since I was a kid, but you might want to look into kick-the-can style ice cream. I remember doing that in school and it was fun and tasty. I saw a special gadget today for sale to do it -- not that you need anything really special, but it was cool. By the looks of it, it was just a ferret ball with another container and ingredients inside.
Ice Cream
A blender is fine for blending your mixture but you need something that will allow you to churn and freeze simultaneously if you want something other than popsicles.
I have a 13 year old Donvier machine. I keep the canister in the freezer and it's always ready to go. I think it was under $50 new and I see them at thrift stores all the time. Craigslist might work, too. Even buying new you'll make your money back pretty quickly if you use it often. Premium quality ice cream is at least $4/pint.
My favorite recipe collection is David Lebvovitz's book The Perfect Scoop. Everything I've tried has been delicious, especially a dairy-free chocolate sorbet and fresh strawberry frozen yogurt. Yum.....
