I do!
Our oldest (DD17) will be a freshman at Kent State University this fall. She is already scheduled and has her first reading assignment already. (A book she's already read.
) She plans to major in Computer Science ~ Software Engineering.
Technically she's not going "off" to college...KSU is only 15 minutes from here and she will be living at home (her chioce) for at least the first year. In that respect I'm not facing major separation issues, nor do we have to outfit a dorm room or work out travel/transportation.
I have been, for a while now, working on backing off from things that are "hers" to handle: medical/dental appointments, prescription refills, insurance phone calls, keeping her own financial paperwork, etc. That's been harder (for me) than I expected. I don't consider myself a control-freak, but I have been a pretty hands-on parent so becoming hands-off is challenging. Lucky for me, she invites my input pretty regularly...I guess I'm learning to be hands-on-only-when-asked!
How about you?
