Andrea's picture

That was a very touching and emotional book Heidi, I don't blame you. Maybe I'll try to rent the movie. We had rain today too later in the day. Not sure about tomorrow.

Linda, if he is in the 10 and 11 group that is the same as my DS11. It is Little League, right? His first all-star practice is going on right now - he's been there 2 hours already. We think he was one of 3 5th graders picked from our town - probably the last pick. He will definitely be challenged. He made the team last year too but it was the 9 and 10 crew. Sorry for talking so much about baseball, I am obsessed with it right now! Let me know when you are going to Dallas so I can track it online!

Cooking dinner right now - sauteed chicken, PW crashed potatoes (think I got that right), leftover salad and that's it!

No work tomorrow but shuttling kids. I will at least do a Zone for 15 minutes. Also hope to walk.

See ya!

Wow Andrea on the flinging!

jennye's picture

Wow Andrea on the flinging! I have some boxes of clothes in my room I need to do that to.

Linda, bet it feels good to have that friend back.

Still waiting on "the rain" that's going to allow us to plant. Town was getting it this morning and our cheerleader car wash was cancelled. Last night DH had to go fight a big fire. It was about 10 miles away but I could clearly see the flames. Started by lightning, but no rain.

Therefore, I'm convinced God is punishing me for not going to church in 2 months. So, starting tomorrow, we are all going back to church. To hell with the fuel prices.

Tonight we are going to Bigger town. The dairy women's association is having a dairy festival thing. Told DH we should go since we are indirectly in the dairy industry (we sell nearly all of our hay to dairies). Supposed to be games and booths, free cheeseburgers and ice cream and other dairy products. AND, there will be a concert; Restless Heart will be there! Now, I guess if you don't know country you wouldn't have heard of them. Group from the 80's and early 90's. I'm excited to go, lots of memories with their songs. And it's just $1 each to get in! Can't beat that!

In the meantime, I'll try to do some flying. Yesterday I decluttered some bathroom drawers. I feel a need to purge down since we may be selling the place. If we sell, we will be living in a single wide or our camper for a while til we can get our dream house built on the farm.

I didn't do anything

jennye's picture

I didn't do anything yesterday! Played with the kids, played on the computer, baked a cake, fixed dinner. I did pull a few weeds, but that's it.

DH is off playing in the ER today (clinicals for his EMT-Intermediate). I need to do that laundry that didn't happen yesterday, vacuum, finish cleaning up the kitchen. Try to have some fun with the kids. Tuna casserole and blueberry muffins for dinner.

Thanks Jenny! He got a hit! A double. Also made a great catch out in left field. We won the game 5-1. This is against a team our town has not beaten ever that anyone can remember in LL history - so it was pretty exciting!

Just doing a bit of laundry now before we go down to our festival - big concert tonight -

So busy!

Shaun's picture

Wow, a lot of activity here! We went to pick DD up from camp over the weekend, and now we are soooo busy getting ready for our houseguests. But I have gotten a lot of great flinging done, and my name is all over Craig's List (not literally, it's all anonymous).

DH is home this week, between jobs. It is fun having him around -- though right now he is working on something for his former employer, of course.

Linda, I'm so sorry Disney wasn't fun for you. We definitely went in the off season, and it was still burning hot. Some things also had crazy long lines, but we did pretty well using the fast passes. But the girls were just not willing to stand in some of the really long lines. (We stood in a long, but air conditioned, line for the Road Test at Epcot, which left both girls in tears, totally traumatized!) And the wait to get into the princess dinner . . . . ! We were standing outside in the burning sun with the girls in their polyester princess gowns just wilting. But boy did meeting Belle at the entrance perk them right up. "There's Ariel!" "There's Sleeping Beauty!" All that from the then-8yo who "hates princesses" Yeah, right . . .

Anyway, I need to get back to work, but I'm glad I peeked in or I would be even further behind reading your posts!

WE MADE IT TO CHURCH THIS

jennye's picture

WE MADE IT TO CHURCH THIS MORNING!! LOL! Big accomplishment for us these days. I have decided God is punishing me for not going to church and therefore it's not raining. Glad we went though. DH was going to go, but has a sinus infection and huge headache, I let him sleep.

However, it did rain in bigger town last night. So much that we left the dairyfestival thing early to go eat at Chili's (didn't want to wait in a mile long line for the freebies) and then came back for the 2nd half of the Restless Heart concert (which was wonderful). DD11 saw a friend there and I let them go down in the rodeo arena in front of the stage and dance (BIG step for me, letting her out of my sight for a concert).

The house has just fallen apart, and I need to get a handle on it. Nothing to report.

I'm back and baseball is OVER, for now!!

LindaM's picture

We are back from the world series. We lost 6 games out of 7 and my daughters cheerleading team probably could have beat that team. Very disappointing in the win department, however, DS played awesome. He made 2 double plays, caught a line drive right at him, fabulous bunts, RBI's, etc. He has really come a long way. Unfortunately, you win and lose as a team. The team made many mistakes that cost them dearly. Coach said we will be off for about a month and then start again.

We stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, TX. That place was a hoot!! They have an outdoor pool/waterslides, and indoor pool/waterslides that stay open til 10pm. I have a fabulous tan. We hung out at the pool everyday. I went on the slides with DD and since we are both scardy cats, was a huge deal. DD bonded with other baseball sisters and they were quite the 3 musketeers. The kids ran around the hotel totally unsupervised while the adults hung out by the pool. There was so much kid friendly stuff for them to do. Finished reading 2 books!! Had solid week of adult interaction. My team has great families to hang out with. That was a fun vacation. We got a special room rate too, so it ended up not being too painful for the 7 days.

House is spotless. Love maids coming!! DH unpacked the car and I already have 2 loads done! Back to the serious grind on Sunday. Would love to ditch church! Am missing 2 fingernails and roots are showing, so need to get that taken care of!! DD has cheer from 2-5 tomorrow and parent meeting also.

IRS stuff is back and I need to figure out how to pay for that, so I guess I will be going on a budget Sad Unfortunately, the maids were a very short luxury. Monday, I am going to sit down and figure a budget. We have not lived on one in years, so I guess the time has come!! Between the IRS, pool, braces and 3 vacations, it was bound to happen sooner rather than later. I don't do poor well, so this should be interesting.

One interesting note, I spent $1,800 on my classroom last year. That is out of my own pocket. We don't get reimbursed for any of that. I am going to really put the brakes on that. My husband could not believe I spent so much. I didn't even keep track of it the first year, but I am certain it was more than that!!

Jenny, I am glad you all got rain. There was only one day of rain for the baseball tournament, and it was on our off day.

So glad to be back!!

Still partying

Shaun's picture

Not really, but we still have our house guests and it is keeping me busy. Plus more liquor and less sleep than my body's worked with in a while.

Sounds like everyone is having a pretty fun summer so far. We're off to a soccer game in a little while ourselves.

Oh, Linda! Sorry Disney wasn't everything you dreamed it to be! What was your husband thinking getting a full and pullout for a family of 4!!! LOL! Never tried that Recipe of hers. Try her pepper steak or her goulash.

I'm going to do WW too (but no meetings, just at home). I encouraging DH to start it again and for HIM to go to meetings (he needs it more than I).

I got 5 loads of laundry done yesterday, still a couple to go. See what happens when I put it off for over a week?! LOL! My kitchen is a mess. Well, just need to unload the DW so I can put in yesterday's dishes, won't take long. They day was spent trying to be quiet so DH could sleep (he baled hay all night), then we went to inlaws because some long lost cousin of MILs came thru. Dog was pretty good at the vets. I was able to hold onto him while he barked and whined at everything that moved.

Pray it rains good tonight.

Bought a new freezer to replace the ancient one in our garage. Now we have to transfer all the meat into it and remove the old one. Jenny-glad the festival was fun and that you got Chili's out of it!!

plans for the 4th

LindaM's picture

My ex-military husband is a pyromaniac! We have a closet full of explosives! He spent a fortune 2 years ago and then it rained, then he bought more last year forgetting he had some. We will shoot them off in our cul-de-sac. We used go to a big one at the nearby mall, but they cancelled it because no one would fund it. Then we are leaving to go to Dallas for the world series.

Came to mark for our pool yesterday and the electricty line goes right through the middle of our yard. That will cost and additional $2000 to reroute. I am getting nervous of the $$. I actually am sitting down to make out a budget today. The wildcard is the IRS. I really need to get that settled. Might have to go pound the pavement to some businesses with DD looking for cheer sponsors. I have been resistant to that (everyone does it around here) because I am not good at asking for sponsors.

On top of all that, ds has orthodontist appt this morning. He really needs to get braces. He is getting to be buck tooth and very self concious. He is incredibly handsome until he opens his mouth!!

So much for the money woes for today. Ususally it is cyclical, so this too will pass. Fingers crossed.

My goal everyday is to get these clothes put away in these laundry baskets. Can keep up with the current ones, just not the ones that have been sitting for a year. Maybe I should put them in the dryer and then make myself fold them as they come out. That is a concept!!

Jenny, have fun... I always love staying in the trailer. It is always so easy to keep clean and organized!

HI All -

Andrea's picture

HI All -
Tomorrow is my last official day of school/work - whatever you wanna call it. But then I am working Friday and Monday to finance my kids' camps this summer! And then one or two more days in the summer. But I am almost done. Yay! Then I can really fly...

Oh! DS's team won the game last night so they are in the championship on Saturday. Very exciting! His game was so-so - but the team did great - very proud of these boys. So much of baseball is psychological, it has been very interesting.

Hey, has anyone checked out Pioneer Woman lately. She just posted a couple of pizza recipes to die for - check it out - http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2008/06/tomato-basil-pizza-two-ways-an-experiment/ I was drooling over these.

Laundry put away and house picked up - that's about it. Making dinner later.

Off to another game-

jennye's picture

Linda, good luck at the world series!!

We had a BLAST last night! I haven't gotten a count on how many came, but I'm guessing 150. May not seem alot to you, but believe me, it was about everybody in the community. The games were awesome, food was good (nothing to write home about, just burgers and hotdogs and some chips). The fireworks were great, I overheard several say they were better than the ones in town the night before. And dance was so much fun! I think we had just the right mix of music, plenty of old stuff for the older people, plenty of new stuff for the teens, and alot right in the middle for the rest of us. We didn't get home til 1am!

Back to the basics for me today. House needs a good fling boogie in here. Good day for it, DH is working in town at the ER (clinicals). But going to go to inlaws first this morning while SIL is still here. IF she doesn't leave before my sleeping children finally wake up!

blogs

LindaM's picture

I started to blog years ago when I first came home, Xanga and Blogspot both. I think I am just not very tech savy because I set them up and then couldn't figure out what to do with them after that. Did some digging around today and both are still out there. Maybe I should investigate further. A girl I used to work with has a typepad one. I don't know, there are tons out there. I agree with not having time. Once school starts back, I have no time for anything. However, it will be my 3rd year, so I am hoping that I will be in the groove now.

DS plays in an 11U league. Not really sure of anything else, I just show up for the games!! But they play all the time.

TADA:
Dropped Tahoe off this morning, just needed freon, but my water pump was going out, good thing I mentioned that low coolant message. $600. Still less than a new car pmt.
Repaired TV delivered. Wow, it sure is big compared to that 13 inch.
Exterminator came...goodbye bugs
Pool man made changes, will be back tonight with contracts
Tree guy gave estimates, did not return, so took nap
Kitchen clean and dishes washed.
Have not seen kids today. They are still on computers.
Still haven't printed out bank statements. They were around here somewhere. Still in denial. Will go look more.

Got all bedding washed for

jennye's picture

Got all bedding washed for the camper, just need to throw it and a few personal items (clothes and food, and makeup of course). Lot of fuss for one night, but SIL just doesn't have room.

Heidi, our plans for the 4th are this: our village fire department and Lion's club (which dh is on both) are doing a cookout with free hamburgers, hotdogs, cokes at the fire station. Then a quick walk behind the school to the big tree (yes, there is only one tree) for free ice cream and games. The ice cream maker is a HUGE machine that can only be transported in the back of a pickup. Then at 9 fireworks on the football field (we managed to strike a deal with a fireworks guy, gave us all the fireworks for free in exchange for a place to hunt quail). Then at 9:30, a dance in the bus barn (which DH is going to DJ. Actually, we already picked the songs on his iTunes and we are going to hook his laptop up to some amps and hit play).

But I guess we will get fireworks twice: town is doing their fireworks on the 3rd (due to scheduling issues, couldn't get anyone to come out on the 4th, all booked up). So we may go to town for that.

Cya'll tomorrow or so!

Jenny
http://heresyourtrouble.blogspot.com/

Last one down, first one up.

jennye's picture

Last one down, first one up. LOL!

Today I need to work on laundry. All the stuff from the camper plus house stuff. Would also like to mow the lawn, mop the kitchen, find the floor in the boys room (again).

We decided last night not to go to DH's uncle's house by the lake (about 5 or 6 hours away). Would have been FUN. Instead, we MAY go to his family reunion in Oklahoma. Not sure on that. I, personally, feel we shouldn't go anywhere right now because we haven't planted anything and fuel prices. Of course, if it rains he'll be busy planting and we won't have to worry about anywhere because he will be planting. I won't breathe a sigh of relief until all that seed is in the ground and come up. All we need is an inch now, another in July, one more in August, maybe a little in September and BOOM, we have a crop. Very frustrating here.

But, we ARE going to Willie Nelson in Lubbock tomorrow (well, they are all going and lonely ol' me will just babysit). So need to get some stuff in the camper for the trip. Bedding would be nice. We usually wouldn't take the camper for such a short trip, but we will be spending the night and SIL doesn't have room for the 6 of us plus my inlaws to sleep.

It was so nice yesterday

jennye's picture

It was so nice yesterday that I once again didn't do much. Didn't touch the laundry, again. Didn't vacuum or do anything along those lines. again. I DID, however, weed the garden, put together the Ladderball game that DD9 got for her birthday. A friend that was clearing out some junk off his place gave us the chassis/transimission and other various things on that frame for a '79 Ford (no engine or body), so I helped him unload that. Then spent the rest of the evening cooking/cleaning dinner and watching all the rain go right around us AGAIN!!!

Town today. Well, later this afternoon. Gotta take the dog in for a rabies shot. Never took him to town before, should be fun. Gotta clean out all those plow tires from the back of my pickup first. Better fill 'er up, too; I don't have enough diesel to make it to town.

Our houseguests are currently living in India, and after all they told me about the snakes there, which are kind of like mice or even flies elsewhere, I think I will not be visiting! Same goes for you, Rattlesnake Jenny!

I am looking forward to Kit Kittredge -- let us know how it is.

I am worn out from having guests who like to do stuff every day! Plus today was a playgroup and tomorrow is a different playgroup. Too many groups.

I'm a bit hot and tired for finishing the clean-up after the guests, but at least my bedroom still looks great.

I'll just piggy-back my last post.

TADA:
*DMV (registered camper AND had lein holder taken off a title of a pickup we paid off last summer).
*Walmart for new blender (since they don't have parts for an old one)
*expedition washed (in hopes it will trigger some rain this way)
*dog food at feed store
*bank to deposit money (and get a little cash)
*girls off at camp, picked up at camp
*chatted with friends on the side of the road by the field they were plowing
*Got whole house picked up and vacuumed
*two loads of laundry folded and put away
*5 bags of trash hauled to the trailer hooked up to the 4-wheeler

I started to do my big project outside: haul off a bunch of branches and twigs I was saving for kindling. There are 4 piles of them, but with all the sand storms we have had, half of each are buried. Wanted to save a few in a water trough and haul the rest off. Except when I moved the trough (which was right outside the back door of the old garage-now office), I found a rattlesnake. Had the kids grab a hoe (because I keep forgetting to buy .22 bullets for my rattlesnake killing gun of choice) and managed to kill it. Chopped the head off, buried it. It was still opening and closing as I was digging a hole for it. I later saw the puppies playing with the rest of the body. Lovely.

Needless to say, I ditched that project for now. I'm too scared as to what I may find in those piles. Maybe I'll tackle it while DS2 is napping. But this is the second rattlesnake I killed this year that didn't rattle at me, even though he had rattles. THAT'S scary.

MIL made the comment that I don't mind killing rattlesnakes, but I am freaked out at the sight of a wasp. hmmm...

Yup, partied out here!!

Sorry about the loss, Andrea. Is baseball over now?

We ended up spending almost all day at the inlaws on Saturday (they cooked steak, grilled corn on the cob and homemade ice cream. Couldn't pass up all that!). Yesterday was church then enjoyed a lazy afternoon (though I got more laundry done, not folded yet).

Today I'm going to work in the yard. The weeds are horrible in the garden, and the yard looks bad; the puppies are tearing the place apart! Desperately need to mow, it's been two weeks.

Girls have volleyball camp this week, and DD11 has cheer practice once (need to call other two girls and let them know about practice).

Pray for rain this week. Time is running out to plant.

Morning Everyone-

Praying for rain Jenny -
No, baseball is not over yet. This team is in a 3-game tournament - double elimination. So as long as we win the next two we are still in it. It might be a long shot though, our town is so small (7000) compared to some others. Eventually, winners from all over will meet in the Little League World Series - it is the same deal that Linda's son is in I think.

The kids are at their first day of rec right now - hope they like it b/c they are going! I've gotten a few things done - made the vet appointment for 1:30. Need to do a WM run before that -It is a hot, humid day here - just the way I like it!

Have a great day everyone!

walk me please!!

LindaM's picture

Jenny, how exciting it would be to have a dream house. I wish I could bail on church tomorrow...

Made the mistake of taking the dog for a long walk last night. Felt sorry for her. Now she has decided that she needs to walk and is following me around and whining. I opened the back door for her to go out and she just stared up at me and sat down. Great! Too hot right now, she will just have to wait.

Stopped at the grocery to pick up some avocados for guacamole. Taster people were on every aisle. Had brisket taco and it was to die for. The grill is heating up right now and that will be our supper. Yum!! Bought a roast for tomorrow. DD's cheer is earlier on Sunday now, so we can all eat supper together. What a concept.

DS had baseball game at 7:30 this morning and then another at 9:30. DH took him and they lost both games. They are at the batting cages now to work out the kinks. DD had tumbling, so we didn't go. We leave for the world series soon, so they need to figure it out. I don't want to go there and lose.

Finally finished cleaning out my closet and found a $20 coupon to DD's favorite store that expires tomorrow!! After tumbling this morning we went and picked out the cutest shirt, shorts and flip flops (all on sale too!!) Then, she insisted we go to Coldwater Creek "for you mom" because they were having a 70% off sale. I got 2 shirts and 2 capri pants. Feeling frumpy lately. Those extra 5 lbs I have gained put me into the danger zone. It felt good to know that my size didn't go up. I have decided it is all in my face and upper arms. Gross.

Maybe I will go walk the dog Smiling

I'm fixing to mop the floor (what better way to ensure muddy boots than to have a clean floor!). DH took girls to VB camp on his way to bigger town to get a part he had ordered a while back. I may work on bills. And I don't know what else. I'm just...here.

Yup, we got more rain yesterday! .3 here, but I think town got more. Still more chances this afternoon and the next few days. Now we need a BREAK from the rain so we can plant the seeds. LOL! Too bad there isn't just an on/off switch to the weather.

Linda, your camp trip sounds like fun! We have a reunion like that. My FIL and siblings owns a few hundred acres up in N. NM. The town there is pretty rough, but we just don't go to town, we stay on our mountain. There is no electricity or water (except a stream running down one side of camp). We have a big campfire every night (it gets down to the 40's in the summer). We kinda break off into individual family groups for most of the meals. 12-15 for just our family branch, but one meal on Sunday of Labor Day weekend is a big pot luck. With about 150 of us there, there's a wide variety of food. We play music all night, and drink. alot. LOL! It's a good way to end the summer. We try to go during the summer sometimes with some friends, but with fuel prices we haven't gone anywhere this year.

Didn't get all the laundry done yesterday, was stuck working on the two loads I did do. SOMEONE (coughDHcough) put crayons in DS2 pockets. I check the other kids pockets but not his because he doesn't use them yet. Well, I spent time rewashing trying to get the darn things out (with a little luck). I did make two loaves of homemade bread yesterday, and that sure didn't help MY diet.

Cheer practice today 9-12. I'll fly later.

Welcome back, Becky. Andrea,

jennye's picture

Welcome back, Becky.

Andrea, good luck for your DS!! Yeah, I'm one of those parents, too. This is my last year of the tranquility before major school sports. This year just cheering and a little basketball on weekends. Next year DD11 will be cheering, volleyball, basketball and track.

Kids got me addicted to a computer game, and I played it most of yesterday (Pet Vet). Too much fun! LOL!

I did, however, get bills sorted out. Ugh. Plus DH bought $11,000 worth of seed yesterday. Double ugh.

Today I am at DH's beckon call. I'll be sitting by the phone waiting for him to call and say come get me. I will make at least two trips hauling his butt around while we move tractors and trucks to various fields. Plus, I'm babysitting a couple of kids this afternoon for a friend. Glad my expedition holds 8. I need to pick up the house real quick before the kids arrive (one is 5, the other 3). Also need to clean up the kitchen real quick (unload DW, reload, feed kids).

Happy 4th of July!! We had

jennye's picture

Happy 4th of July!!

We had fun in Lubbock. DH went to the Willie Nelson concert with his family and I played with kids. The next day I managed to talk him into watching the kids for 2 hours while me and SIL, MIL went shopping. Had a gift card from Victoria Secrets, then we made the world's fastest trip to Sam's.

Went to fire department meeting last night after we unloaded the camper, then ran to town to see the fireworks (due to scheduling conflicts, town had to do their 4th of July yesterday). Unfortunately, we ended up missing most of the fireworks to help out a van on the side of the road full of old people who had run out of gas, so we helped them out instead.

This has nothing to do with flying whatsoever! LOL!

Need to do a little laundry today, but nothing too taxing. I'll mostly be busy helping with our villages 4th of July with some cooking, games, and the dance.

Happy Monday, folks! Can't

jennye's picture

Happy Monday, folks! Can't believe June is about gone already!!

Andrea, stained glass still intact. LOL! What really surprised me is that DS2 made a beeline for the nursery (he has never stayed in there!) and DS5 decided he would stay there with him, too (also never did nursery). They lasted in there the whole service! Then DS5 and DD9 WILLINGLY went to Sunday School. Someone replaced my kids with church going ones! LOL!

Linda, blogs are easy and FREE. Got mine at blogger.com. You can pick your own template for the background stuff, and enter your entries just like typing here. There is a button to add pictures and other stuff. REALLY easy! I hope you do one and put some pictures on there, I really want to see your family.

$12,000?! Did the CPA have a typo (a really big one?). Every November we take our year to date stuff in and get an estimate. Last year he said $12,000. So we had some room to spend money we didn't have on my Expedition and a new set of hay rakes. Both were write-offs and we didn't have to pay quite as much. We figured if we had to spend the money anyway, it might as well be for something WE can use, right?

Yesterday we didn't get much housework done, again. (this sounds old). BUT, I did help DH get the kids 4-wheeler fixed, played with all the dogs for a while (still have those two pups), helped DH put the 5th wheel hitch back into my pickup and hooked up the camper, backed into the barn for some servicing and a good cleaning out (which I will work on today). We plan on using it on Wednesday when we go to Lubbock (DH and his family going to see Willie Nelson. I get to babysit all the kids). I have quite a mess to clean up in there with all the mouse invasion. Ugh. I'm going to throw the bedding away and just get some new stuff.

Hi All -

Enjoy the trip Jenny - bummer that you can't actually see him! Good luck with that planting.

Hi everyone else!

Plugging along here - doing pretty well - sheets changed, delivered DS to camp, went tanning, had coffee with DH, store for flea treatment for cat, did that. Off to fold laundry and do my Zone now - maybe something else. I'd like to go for a walk too.

We're back!!

LindaM's picture

Whew, we are back after a whirlwind vacation to Disney. I have to confide that I was not that thrilled with the whole experience. Expensive, standing in lines, waiting for fast pass times to come, crowds and even more crowds. When it wasn't raining, it was hot. I made the mistake of complaining once and DH gave me the angry eyes. We stayed at the doubletree (husband booked the rooms). The room had one full and a pull out couch. He thought that he and ds would take the bed and dd and I the couch. WRONG. I do not sleep on pull out sofas. Ended up dd and I got the bed, he got the sleeper and ds got a rollaway. He will not be in charge of booking rooms again. I drove the kids and I there in 2 days. Went as far as Pensacola and stayed the night at the Holiday Inn Express. Now that was a comfy room. Drove in to disney the next day. Did the same coming back. We live outside of Houston, so it was a pretty far drive. Have no idea how much money we spent in gas and food, room was free with points, but the kids had a blast and that is all that matters!! DH stayed for business meetings today and Fri. and will fly back tomorrow.

We had a pet sitter come and take care of dog, cats and mail. Tried to leave the house clean so it was nice to return to. Put in some new plugins when I left, so smelled really nice in here. Lots to do tomorrow.

laundry: wash dry fold and put away vacation clothes
vacuum pet hair
empty cat boxes
grocery shop (no food in the house)
plan for diet to begin on 7/1 weight watchers

Jenny, last week I made the chicken cassarole recipe from Paula Deen and it was awful. Ended up tasting like a green bean casserole with chicken. Two thumbs down for a family meal, but might be ok for a potluck.

Happy July 4 all!

LindaM's picture

Very busy day yesterday. Pool guy came out to look at the electric line. This guy is awesome. He is very brash, so you have to get past that Eye-wink He said to move the pool over and save that money. I agreed, so now back to the drawing board.

We went to see Wall-e. The jury is out for me on that movie. It had a cute storyline, but I don't really think it was an A+

Maids were supposed to come out yesterday, and never showed. Normal lady is out of town, so this was a different crew. Turns out they went to my neighbors house!! She accidently left her door open, so they went right in and cleaned. She was freaked out when she got home. The maids said her house was filthy!! They came bright and early at 7:00 this morning. I was so excited. They helped me put away all the baskets that I have had around here. Did a wonderful job. I feel so caught up now!!

DH went to play a 4th party band gig. Friend called last minute for him to sub. He will be gone til 10:00. No fireworks I guess for us this year. I personally hate them unless they are a sponsored thing. When I was a kid a friend shot off a bottle rocket and it came straight for me. Another neighbor blew up a firecracker in his face.

Finishing up the rest of the laundry so we can pack for the week. I love leaving the house clean to go out of town.

See you all when we get back from the world series.

lots done

LindaM's picture

Lots of stuff done today!

DS played rollercoaster tycoon on computer all day
DD went to friends house

*made chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast
*cleaned dishes
*washed dried and put away all vacation clothes
*called exterminator for Monday (repaired tv coming back then too)
*think my ac in the Tahoe is out, so shop appt for Monday. (thank goodness it didn't go out yesterday)
*Went to Hallmark for gift for friend that moved...bought and bubbled wrapped. Need to find box and mail today.
*reconnected with DD friend's mom I was somewhat mad at, long story. ok, well, it was her that called first. Talked to her for over an hour.
*stared at laundry room to figure out how to reconfigure. Called honey-do to come and stack w/d
*took awesome portrait of dog, printed out, need to find mat and frame
*took picture of neighbors green pool to send to gestapo homeowners assoc.
*went through all mail, made files and paid bills
*swiffered dog/cat hair from floor
*cleaned out car from trip, wow was it messy!

DS has batting practice at 5:30. I still need to go to the grocery store, but I don't want to!!

Hey there!

Andrea's picture

Did the stained glass windows in church crack when you walked in Jenny? LOL! I can't believe you are selling your house - right after you did all that work in the kitchen! I remember when you moved into it!

Heidi, that is awesome that DS did the food pantry thing with you. I would like to figure out something like that for my kids - kinda hard in our small town but there has got to be something.

Hi Linda! FYI - I do WW online - maybe we can compare notes. I have to brag - my DS11's team lost the Championship yesterday 2-0 - it was a heartbreaker - BUT he found out today he made the all-star team from our town. He did last year also and we lasted 3 games. Our town is so small that it would be highly unlikely for them to make it to the World Series. So you know you are going to the WS already??!!

Work tomorrow and then a full week of baseball camp and acting camp plus several parties at the end of the week - all good. Yes I will fly in there somewhere - I'm tackling closets and dressers next.

Have a great week everyone!

http://blackcatchronicles1.blogspot.com/

HI All! You have been might

Andrea's picture

HI All!

You have been might busy Linda! Sorry about Disney. We enjoyed it very much when we went 2 years ago - stayed at Port Orleans Riverside which was very nice. Just a standard room with 2 doubles but the amenities were great - many pools, etc. My DS has batting practice at 6:00. His last game is tomorrow!

How was the movie Heidi? I read that book too.

Hey Jenny and Becky!

Worked today but pretty low key. Tested one kid and wrote the report. Hoping to pick strawberries in the am to do something with - not sure what. Church Sunday am - it is our pastor's last Sunday so I am helping with the coffee hour - bringing a fruit plate and setting up, etc. That will keep me busy till noon at least. Then I'm working Monday and then not again until the morning of the 8th.

I have tackled one hotspot so far - my closet - hanging items plus what is on the shelf - only took me 15 minutes and it looks great. I flung the stuff I don't wear (or doesn't fit) at a church I pass on my way to work. Two garbage bags full - wow! Did that ever feel good!

I also picked up a few annuals tonite to plant a few pots - don't want to overdo it - I tend to do that.

Off to pick basil for our pesto tonite -

Shaun-I hear ya on the more alcohol than sleep, that was me on Saturday evening at a friend's wedding. But it was fun.

Jenny-hope you get that rain. Any luck with getting the puppies adopted? I bet they are getting cuter and bigger.

Have a wonderful day.

LindaM's picture

Andrea, we qualified a while back for the world series in Dallas, so we were able to plan that as one of our summer vacations. We are consumed around here with baseball and cheer. It is a wonder nothing gets done. Sunday morning I was already making plans to go to 11:00 service and saw a note from DH that DS had game and had to be there at 10:15 (I thought they were finished yesterday), so once again no church for us. Baseball 11:00 - 12:40 (they won)and then cheer from 2-5. I don't have to stay at cheer, I can drop-off, but I like to sit and talk to the other moms that stay.

Jenny, the storms came through late in the afternoon, so didn't disrupt anything here. My flowerbeds I planted last month look awesome. The flowers are starting to spread together. I'm glad you all had fun at the festival. I love going to county fairs.

I am going to be housebound today so hopefully will get the endless supply of baskets put away.

Todays list:
*wait for exterminator
*wait for tv repair people to return tv
*call to see if Tahoe is still under warranty, drop off somewhere and find ride back home. (pray it doesn't cost alot)...why does something always break as soon as they are paid off and out of warranty?
*reprint all bank statements from 07 and turn in teacher expenses to CPA to try to offset $12,000 debt to IRS. Yes, $12,000. Somewhere, something went seriously wrong.
*wait for pool guy to tweak plan, decide whether to sign life away.
*locate class to take for camera

I don't do poor well, but it looks like things are getting ready to be financially tight around here.

Bought DS Rollercoaster tycoon 3, so he will be glued to laptop, DD has RCT2, so she will be glued to fossil computer. Almost like having no kids at home with me today! Anything done outside of the above list will be a gift!

Andrea and Jenny, I love your web pages, I would love to do one, was it easy to set up??

Have a safe trip,

jennye's picture

Have a safe trip, Becky.

Andrea, how were the taters? I made them not too long ago, but didn't have all the herbs she used on them. So I just threw a bunch of Paula Deen house seasoning on them and shredded cheese. They were pretty good. We had MMs favorite sandwich tonight. I really need to quit cooking PW and PD stuff. I have gained 15 pounds now and wearing my fat jeans.

I got alot done today. At least I think I did:
*picked up and vaccumed dining/living rooms and one other room
*Worked three hours on cleaning that camper. Found two more dead mice. It is CLEAN and sanitized in there now. Washing quilts and bedding and towels now
*cleaned the oven and stove in the house real good with easy off.
*dinner cooked AND kitchen clean (includes unloading DW from this morning
*helped DH and FIL load up two stock tanks for FIL to take to his ranch. So much for our swimming pool in the garden.

Girls had headaches tonight so I let them each have a long bubblebath. I'm hoping the boys will crash soon, I'm TIRED!

jennye's picture

Morning gals!!

No, Heidi, no luck on the puppies yet. They are so darn cute! But someone has told me that there may be pit bull in them, so I really don't want to keep them.

I second the alcohol and sleep. Friday at the 4th bash we had, I admit I'm the one with the 32 oz cup from a convience store that didn't contain coke in it. LOL! And yes, it was at the school. I broke school rules, alcohol on campus. Gee, just like when I was the one in school. In fact, I think I did the very same thing (convience store cup...). glad the cops that stopped by didn't check my cup (though I'm sure they figured it out).

Yesterday's TADA:
grass mowed
garden weeded REAL good
bathrooms clean

Girls have volleyball camp today. I'm going to run into town while they are there and get some dog food at the feed store, run by DMV (discovered camper registration isn't current. Oops!), run by the bank. But first I need to get the kids all up and dressed and fed!! Yikes!

Jenny
http://heresyourtrouble.blogspot.com/

Oh. My. Gosh. I'm exhausted!

jennye's picture

Oh. My. Gosh.

I'm exhausted! Cheer camp is tiring, even if you aren't the one cheering! LOL! I've still been trying to learn the moves (here in the privacy of home with the DVD UCA gave us). I'm having a hard time with just the cheer! We also learned an Xtreme Routine and tomorrow learn a hip hop dance. Oh, and stunts. We finally got up to a half with a cradle catch, and a stand on shoulders step up (I have no idea the real names for these moves). We are working up to a full. Whew! After driving 5 of the 6 kids to drop off points (parent's works), I finally got home after 5. DH was sweet and fixed dinner (of course, he didn't clean it up). The girls and I have been practicing the rest of the night.

No flying, but checking in.

Linda, you got the salt, I'll bring the tequila. LOL!

I'm so tired, I'm off to bed, soon. Two more days of camp.

Quick trip

LindaM's picture

Tahoe won't be ready until tomorrow. That put a ding in my plans. Went ahead and took the truck and the rv up to the lake. It was dark when we got there. Dropped the trailer, turned the ac and fridge on and drove back home. We will go back up tomorrow. DH can't be without his truck. Hopefully, mine will be ready in the morning.

Fired my maids today Sad That means I will be at it again. The dog is going through some shedding marathon and I can hardly keep up with her. Insisted she go outside today, but I was met with resistance. I think she was outside for 5 minutes today.

Tomorrows list:

Bake 2 dozen cookies for the lake
Pack clothes
pack float
stop at liquor store Smiling
try to shove bikes in back of Tahoe
leave for lake as soon as car is ready.

I am looking forward to it now. It is nice being in a 26 foot house with no pets.

Anyone out there??? Partied

Andrea's picture

Anyone out there???

Partied out I guess.

I know I am. After a BBQ Friday, baseball picnic and pool party Saturday, and all-star game today, I am whooped. It was all fun though. We lost the game 5-4 - good game though.

Maintaining here. Made my list of summer projects and also my PODA for tomorrow. It is pretty long - hope I can do it. The biggie is getting the dog to the vet plus a bunch of phone calls.

See ya!

gulleywasher

LindaM's picture

I have been car-less today. What have I done??

Washed rv
packed rv
meatloaf in the oven
bleached awning
got awning strap stuck on rv, spent 2 hours in 108 degrees trying unsuccessfully to unstick. May have to just cut it out.
cleaned kitchen
unloaded dishwasher and reloaded for 2nd load

The rains are here and it is a gulleywasher. Yes, did I say I spent all morning washing the outside of the rv. Awning is partially stuck down, so hopefully this storm does not contain heavy winds. If so, I will no longer have an awning.

Too stressful. Found some margarita salt to take camping with me, may need to find some tequila to go with it.

DD has been getting on my nerves today. We need to get to the lake so she will have someone to play with. I don't want to be her friend right now!!

Back to the grind!! May bake some chocolate chip cookies, that will make me happy!!

IT RAINED, IT RAINED!!!

jennye's picture

IT RAINED, IT RAINED!!! Rain gauge at the house shows 1.5 inches, we haven't driven down to the farm to check those yet, but the radar looked good there last night. You have no idea the relief we are feeling today!

I got the floor mopped yesterday (maybe that caused it to rain!), but that was about it in the house. I helped DH work on the swather, then we took it out and he taught me to drive it. Also let me drive the tractor the other day, I guess he wants me to start working for him soon? LOL! He did take dd11 out with him yesterday afternoon and she drove the PICKUP for him a couple miles. sniff, sniff, my baby is growing up and driving a 1 ton pickup.

That baby also has cheer practice this morning at 9am. It's Thursday, so I'll try to work on some laundry.

I wanna see the Kit movie! Of course, it's not going to be showing anywhere near here. My poor kids, have to wait for it to come out on DVD. They do have the Samantha and Felicity movies. Hopefully the Hannah Montana movie that's going to be on Disney channel will pacify them.

Oh, Heidi. Can't smoke them snakes out, county wide burn ban. Might be state wide, not sure. Nobody is allowed to burn anything, not grass, not trash, nothing. But that would have been a good idea.

Shaun, sorry you won't be visiting any time soon. I'll just put those big juicy steaks back in the freezer (hehehe, just kidding!).

Jenny

Happy Monday!

jennye's picture

Linda, the money you spent on your classroom should at least be deductable. Still, it's money you have spent and it does add up.

Andrea, good luck at the game today!

We got more rain yesterday morning while we were still asleep, which we were very thankful for at church. After SS, we went to eat at a local steakhouse that has a fantastic salad bar. I did splurge and get a prime rib and loaded baked potato, the prime rib wasn't very good. I wish my husband would remind me of that! LOL! He got a steak New Mexico (NY strip with whole roasted green chile and cheese on top), but I don't do hot stuff well. Hit the grocery store where I dropped $165 on nothing but basics. I even ditched the cheese now that it has gone up to $10+ a bag. Anyway, back home where we relaxed most of the day. I worked on cleaning some science fair projects out of the fridge, dogs were much appreciative. LOL!

Then the power went out about 10. Caused by a snake that had climbed on the transformers at a substation, which caused a small fire, which DH went and put out. Power was out not only to us, but I couldn't see any lights in the village nor in town (even though it's 20 miles away, I can still see town from here). No idea when we got power back. The kids wanted me to read Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, so I did. LOL!

Much to do today. Really I can't slack. I'm going to turn the computer OFF so not to be tempted. Kitchen, and the whole house, looks like a wreck. Going to work on it today, and laundry, too. We have cheer practice today at 3, then friend over for dinner tonight (husbands at school board meeting tonight). Cheer practice tomorrow, too. Then three days of cheer camp all day. Busy week.

Just kinda recovered today after all the partying this weekend! Oh boy I need to take it easy! We went up to the city and DD and I saw the Kit movie - very good - I really enjoyed it. Morning gals!

Yesterday I didn't get much done (what else is new!). I DID clean off my dresser in the bedroom good (it was pretty bad), and DD11 and I got a load of branches loaded up. I still need to dump it out in the pasture somewhere. We had cheer practice in the morning, where we learned some stunting (poor DD11. She is the youngest of the Junior High cheerleaders, but already the tallest. She has to be a base instead of a flyer. LOL!). Next week we have practice on Monday and Tuesday then camp on Wed., Thursday, and Friday. I'm excited for cheer camp!

But for today, I need to work on bills. Unload the trailer and maybe load it up again. Work on the laundry that didn't get done yesterday. Have no fear, I'll find something to keep me busy. LOL!

Shaun's picture

So glad you got your rain, Jenny. We had a huge thunderstorm here last night. It actually started brewing around 1 pm, when we had to leave our beach picnic because you could hear the thunder (I was wrapped in a towel because of the cold breeze blowing the storm in anyway). We got a short rain, but the really big crashes were around 3 this morning.

Hoping to go scrapping tonight, kind of a spontaneous thing. I'm so tired this week I'm not sure I can stay awake for it, but I'm going to try!

Yea on the rain but boo on the power outage,Jenny. We lose power often here in the valley. Alot of people have generators around here.

Hi All!!

DH's family lives in Michigan

Becky's picture

For whoever asked, that's where they live.

We got DS's first haircut yesterday! He actually looks younger now. With all his hair, he looked like a 2- or 3-year-old. (He's tall too.) Now he looks his age, which is 16 months.

we're back!

Had an OK trip. DH's family is nice but they live in the middle of nowhere, so the actual travel was a PITA.

yea for the rain!

Jenny, looking at the radar, you may be getting rain. It is going around us, as usual. Went grocery shopping at Walmart. I like the low prices, but the clientele here has a lot to be desired. Last time we went there were a few people with gang looking dress/tatoos. Today, as we were leaving, the security grabbed the couple in front of us for shoplifting. I think this will our last trip there. DD was a little freaked, but I sensed it coming. I told her under my breath to stop and for once, she did. I wasn't sure if I was going to have to pull her to me if he pulled out a weapon.

We are trying to figure out when we are leaving town next!! Every year we (me and the kids) go camping with a ton of our RV friends. We eat big meals together, the kids play together and the wives hang out. At the end of the stay, we have a big fish fry of everything we have caught all week. DH never goes, so it is just me, which is a pain, but everyone helps me out if necessary. They don't like the way I back in the trailer!! The "social director" was a friend of mine before we all got married. He and I hung out and would fish and drink together. We still do, so it is fun!! DD has cheer camp, so we will have to cut it short if we go. Still can't decide. It seems we have been gone alot. We may just chill here and watch the hole in the backyard!!

So much for starting my diet. I ate 2 manwiches for dinner. Probably should have stopped at one. Refused to buy mint chocolate chip ice cream for DD, so that may help!! Have a new Mary Higgins Clark book to read, so that will be my evening!!

oops

Hey Everyone! Where do they

Andrea's picture

Hey Everyone!

Where do they live Becky? Or don't you want to say? The midwest I'm thinking?

We are in between our little Village Festival (which is big for us) and DS's All-Star game tomorrow - which is 45 minutes away. If anyone has an extra prayer he could use it - he is fielding well, but it in a hitting slump - lots of pressure, being the second youngest kid on the team! His game it at 1:00 tomorrow. I never thought I would be one of THOSE parents, but I am.

DH helped a lot with my PODA - folded and mopped the kitchen! I accomplished some myself so are are doing ok. I am going through clothes now and sorting, etc.

Have a nice weekend all!

Laundry almost all done,

jennye's picture

Laundry almost all done, kitchen is clean. Spent all of cheer practice sewing camp gear shirts for the cheerleaders. We ordered them the correct sizes, but the girls were just swimming in them anyway; must have run larger than we thought. So I hemmed and trimmed up 17x2 shirts for both squads.

Linda, get a Ford! LOL! CHEVROLET: cheap heap every valve rusted oil leaks every time. LOL! FORD: First on Race Day. I had a Yukon XL last year. Had an annoying vibration in the front end. new tires didn't fix it, new u-joints didn't fix it, took it in and had $1,200 worth of work done and it STILL didn't fix it. So I got rid of it and got my Expediton XL.

I have to be at the school at 6:45 to get cheer camp stuff. Camp is 8-4 Wed., Thurs, and Friday. So I won't be flying any. I'm so excited, I never got to go to cheer camp before! LOL! I've got to get the squad registered by 8.

Have a great night/day tomorrow.

BTW, more rain this afternoon. We have PLENTY of moisture to plant now. Pastures are greening up. Looking pretty good for a desert out there!

Welcome home Linda! Sorry

jennye's picture

Welcome home Linda! Sorry the team didn't do well, but WTG for your DS!! FWIW, I wouldn't want to do poor again. Ugh. Me working two jobs (one every day in an office, then every night and weekends waitressing, with 1 day off every 3 months. double ugh!). I remember those days (BC, before children) and do NOT want to go back there! Hope you are able to find a budget that allows you to keep the things you need the most (I don't think we could survive without our Directv! LOL!).

Got boys room picked up and other rooms just picked up. All kids are bathed or showered. Church tomorrow. Also need to pick up some shirts for me to embroider for myself and the other coaches for cheer camps this week. Need to find some freebie cheer embroider to put on them, along with our school name. Oh, and groceries. I ran out of bread yesterday and dang near out of milk and yogurts. Now that DH is on Weight Watchers again, I need to get stuff for him as well.

Ya'll have a nice night!

I generally don't worry

jennye's picture

I generally don't worry about the power going out. If it's out, well, it's out! A few hours isn't going to spoil everything in the fridge if you keep the doors closed. We have candles and flashlights and windows we can open. We will survive! If it gets really bad, the fridge in the camper runs on propane or electricity, we can throw some things in there. Also a propane generator in there, too.

Way back in the dark ages (the 80's), an ice storm came thru and DH and family lost power for days. They put the food in the camper fridge and bundled up. Some neighbors a few miles up the road came over and they all weathered the storm together. Of course, both MIL and FIL grew up with no electricity or indoor plumbing, so they knew what to do. MIL grew up gathering cow chips for the stove, and in her experience, colored pages in a catalog were nice to look at, but horrible on your backside. LOL!
