Flybabies, March 9th

Morning!! Everyone up bright and early? Or so you thought til you remembered that we must Spring Forward? I love Daylight Savings time! The sun goes down later, love it.

We did all the lower cabinets last night. I also got the bathrooms clean (well, as clean as I could considering there are various small kitchen appliances in them, not to mention using the tub for dishes.

Today we are going to put the bases for the countertops on. Hopefully my granite tile will be in tomorrow and we can wrap this job up. I've been sharing pictures on my blog as we go along, but I so can't wait to show before and afters!!

This afternoon I also need to finish up taking pictures for the lions club big thing that's at the end of the month for the program. So that will take most the afternoon.

We had over 12 inches of snow here! It is so high that DDalmost7 had the snow up to her upper thighs. We had already had plenty of snow on the ground from during the week. At least we did not lose power or any huge trees fall. Some were not as fortunate though.

Andrea- I haven't read a novel in a while. I have been reading debt books. One of my goals this year is to eliminate most of our credit card debt. I have been applying my paychecks toward that end. It is a long process though! But I am determined to do it.

Good luck Heidi! It will be totally worth it when you are debt-free! My DH is so frugal (or cheap - depending on how you look at it!) that he doesn't allow much, if any, debt. Trying to make a library run today to get some books -

Besides that just getting through the week - we have one PT conference and a roller-skating party - and packing of course.

Heidi, we have spring break from Good Friday on, is that when you do? I bet that sub check will be nice!

Kitchen is done! At least the hard stuff. We finished last night. I have a couple little things to do (touch up some paint, install a couple of organizer thingies). But the fun part, moving in and reorganizing, is still left. Actually, not that much to do, as I've been doing it a little at a time. Mainly my cookware and drawer stuff. But most of the drawer is getting chunked anyway.

The house of course is a total disaster! The washer and dryer has been on the patio since last Thursday and the laundry pile is HORRID!! House is totally dusty from all the sanding and grinding going on on the floor and woodwork stuff. It's a mess.

PODA:
*move back into kitchen
*install trash can thingie (it goes in a cabinet)

*download pictures and blog/email them.
*figure out checkbook and bills.
*And everything else in the entire house. Especially since my mother is coming in 2 weeks!! Yikes!

TADA:

*moved about everything back into kitchen (and tossed/giveaway boxed a ton of stuff, too!)
*5 or 6 loads of laundry (lost count)
*cleaned and dusted my dining room real good. Still need to do curtains and window sill, and put pretties back in the china cabinet.
*whipped together a normal dinner and had inlaws over (meatloaf, broccoli casserole and stuffing, and a pound cake)
*kitchen is clean (because it's fun to clean!)

One thing I didn't do was bills. Hopefully tomorrow or Saturday I can get those taken care of.

Howdy, howdy! What's going on over here? I'll tell ya. The WIND is HOWLING today. Right now it's sustained at 35-40, but expected to get to 55mph with GUSTS up to 70MPH!!!

DH and I got all the throwaway trash from the kitchen remodel that has been piling up on the patio for over a week. Took two trailer loads (plus the one he and the kids hauled off the other day). Still got a load of stuff that's being saved to haul to the barn (or wherever DH wants to put it).

Then I ran to town to get groceries, because my fridge was echoing from lack of milk, cheese, and yogurts. As I unloaded, a darn piece of sand got in my eye and that HURT! I couldn't open my eye at all for a minute or two. Love spring, but hate the wind. It's actually in the 70's here.

I'm going to try to do some more cleaning and laundry today.

Heidi, "Grease" sounds like fun!! The high school in town is doing "The Sound of Music" this weekend. Would be fun to go. But alas, I'm not allowed to do anything on weekends. My inlaws spend both Friday and Saturday nights going to various Senior Citizen Centers for their weekend dancing/music playing. So my sitter is always busy. DH won't let anyone else near his children. sigh.

After I cleaned my nice new kitchen after dinner (cleaning is fun again!! Well, at least an enjoyable experience since my kitchen LOOKS clean after it is clean rather than before when it was clean and still looked dirty), we declared a movie night. We watched "8 Seconds", the movie my twin starred in (hehe. No, I just look like her. Or so I have been told by many people over the years). Tearjerker movie. True story about a bull rider. Luke Perry stars in it. If you haven't seen it, run out and rent it. GREAT movie!

Today, if it starts with a B, I'll be doing it:
*boys room (clean it. It's BAAAAD!)
*bills (ugh, there BAAAAD too!)
*baking (Pioneer Woman's chocolate sheet cake. It's also supposed to be BAAAAD, but in a GOOOOD way!)

I'm sure I'll find a few things that don't start with be, like Dusting, watering the trees and lawn, vacuuming, reorganizing, lord only knows what else. But ya'll have a good one!

Two out of three ain't bad. Got the boys room clean and the baking done. Actually, sicked DD8 on the boys room (because she and DD10 don't work well together on there own room. Too much screaming and yelling and tears and blood). She managed to take care of the floor, you can see it again. Unfortunately, she just put stuff in whatever basket/box/drawer she could find, so I have no idea where anything is! As for baking, I managed to not only bake that delicious cake, but also a pan of enchiladas, stuffed shells, and chili for dinners later in the week. Cool!

However, didn't get the bills done. I HAVE to do that TODAY!!

Got the bills done. Yay! Still gotta get the money transferred, but mailed the checks this morning.

DH has to haul hay today and DS2 may go with him. I'm not sure how I feel about this. He's too little, what if he has a poopy diaper, what if he gets bored, starts crying (notice I'm not concerned about his safety. I know he will be safe). What am I going to do here by myself all day (ok, don't answer that one!). I haven't given my consent yet, they are still in the barn and haven't left.

Regardless of whether he goes or not, got lots to do today. Cleaning. Yesterday I got my room half done. Surfaces cleaned off and dust. There are still some boxes of decluttered stuff laying around in there, but it does look better. I'll work some more on decluttering and stuff today.

I was childless for about 2 whole hours, enough time to load the trailer and strap it all down. LOL! Drew decided that was enough Daddy time and I met them at the highway. However, I did accomplish:
*going out to storage house and bring in baby swing (to clean up and loan to a friend), the play pen (because the baby I watch is now CRAWLING and rolling and I need a better place for him to nap) and found my daddy's camera (that he took to Vietnam).
*finished painting the ceiling in the kitchen
*finished touching up the walls in kitchen with paint

It was fun while it lasted. LOL!

Reading along with you = I find myself flying even on vacation in someone else's condo! I vacuumed today and did 1 load of laundry and emptied the dw! Yes I am crazy. I am loving Florida and the beach - i would love to have a place here but it is so much $$$$$$$$$$$!!

Andrea, I loved and miss Florida! My grandparents lived there for many years and I have many fond memories of sunrises and donuts on the beach, watching the shuttle launch (from a distance of about 20 miles, but still), going to Mass and Disneyworld/Epcot. I lived there too for a time in high school and was then exposed to the HUGE cattle ranches and farms that are there, too. I LOVE Florida! Enjoy it!

I have cleaned my kitchen each and every night since we completed our project in there. It's fun to clean! LOL! And I keep it clean during the day as well.

It's Tuesday, which means I have baby C today. Who is napping. In the playpen. He was crawling everywhere this morning! So glad the remodeling is done, he can't get into too much bad stuff now.

Been in town all day. Got oil changed (free, first one in my new truck), Wendy's (who had no cokes because of no CO2) Hobby Lobby, Lowe's, two banks, feed store and Walmart (not to mention getting gas and washed truck). Whew! I'm tired now! LOL! Of course still dinner to fix, cupcakes for DD8's class party tomorrow, grab bags for DS5's class party tomorrow. Gotta find my Easter baskets and empty eggs to fill up for the party as well.

Heidi, I can't wait for Spring Break!! Tomorrow our last day as well. Whoohoo!

Heidi, are ya'll going anywhere for Spring break?

On my third load of laundry today and got the bathrooms cleaned. Also DW unloaded, kitchen is cleaned, and filled 4 dozen plastic eggs with candy and sent to school.

Still to do:
frost the cupcakes
finish the laundry
pick up the living room
eat some lunch
be at the school at 1:30 to set up the preschool party and drop off stuff for 3rd grade party
vacuum the house
figure out how to get the 3 horses penned up, but not any cows
unload that feed out of my expedition (but it smells really good in there! Just like the feed store!)

I really need to get back on the flylady wagon. It's just life is so unpredictable, the second I plan on doing something it gets changed by some emergency trip to town or something.

We aren't doing anything for spring break either. Well, except the 3 1/2 hour drive to Albuquerque to get my mother, stepfather and grandmother from the airport, a big 4 day music thing the Lion's club does (58th year for it), and a basketball tourney next weekend and practice during the week). But not going out of town (unless you count the trip to ABQ. LOL!).

I still need to vacuum. Friends coming over for breakfast in the morning. But the house is picked up. We even worked a couple hours in the yard picking up all the trash that was thrown out there during the remodeling. Now it's nice and clean out there again. If only I had green grass!

I'm off to watch Star Wars with the kids.

We worked a frenzy this morning on some misc. junk and floors. But I got everything mopped and vacuumed before the company got here. They are already gone, but there are always piles of things to take care of. Need to rearrange my garden hoses and get water going on the yard, fold a load of laundry from yesterday. Mostly working on my many hot spot piles. I love piles. LOL!

Ah, well Andrea, all good things must come to an end. Hopefully it will be spring soon up there! Hope you had a great trip.

Tell me why we have several beautiful sunny days in the 70's, then ONE day (Easter Sunday) cold and cloudy, then back to nice? I managed to keep my kitchen clean yesterday morning while I made buttermilk waffles (which takes at least 3 bowls to make between mixing and seperating eggs, beating the whites, etc), then a chocolate cake (from scratch. Family recipe, but I've decided Pioneer Womans is better, even though the recipes are VERY similar) and brocolli casserole for the family gathering we went to.

Last night we had a movie night. End of the world movie night. The Easter Bunny brought the kids "I am Legend" and "Terminator 3". Also "Enchanted" but it didn't fit our theme last night. Maybe we can watch it tonight.

Spring Break! Yippee!!

And I have tons to do with my mother coming in 2 days. Working on laundry now (4 loads today). As soon as DD10 wakes her butt up, I need to go feed the horses (she can babysit). Will do weekly blessing, then hopefully tackle some stuff in the kids' rooms. Also have some outdoor work to do by the pens (chopping down 6 foot tall weeds). DH is busy getting tractors and plows over here to service, so I will have to help him sometime today as well.

Yeah, I guess you are right Jenny. It sure is bittersweet though. I am still unpacking as we arrived home a day later than planned due to flight delays. Spent a night in Detroit courtesy of Northwest Airlines. Hard to enjoy since we didn't have any clothes or supplies at all! It was a whopping 36 degrees here today. I am shivering. Not complaining though! Spring will be here soon and it will be lovely through October at least.

Are you referring to Pioneer Woman's chocolate cake recipe or the waffles? I'm thinking the cake. Her recipes rock though I have not tried any yet. They all have mega calories and fat - that's why they look so great I guess. Love her site.

Back to work tomorrow. I am working on my 2nd load of laundry now and unpacking my 5th bag. Dust mopped today and need to vacuum the FR due to a dirty cockapoo trailing in and out of the house! Good thing he is cute!

Yes, because Detroit is right smack dab between Florida and New York, right? LOL! And no luggage!? Sounds like it was a miserable trip home!

And yes, it was PWs cake (the chocolate sheet cake one that uses nearly 4 sticks of butter. That one).

Supposed to be 84 here today, and I am SO looking forward to it!

I accomplished my laundry and some weed chopping. Had to help DH a little bit on fixing up a tractor out in the barn. Kept the kitchen clean (which is fun now!).

Today:

*Vacuum (in fact, all of weekly blessing, cuz it didn't get done yesterday)
*clean out expedition and pickup
*run to town for a few groceries

I'll be busy today, mom comes tomorrow! yay!!

I know, crazy isn't it. NW seems to route many of their flights through Detroit as it is one of their hubs. It actually wasn't too terrible. The hotel was really nice and we picked up some t-shirts at the airport to sleep in. Did a little laundry at the hotel. The worst part was not having my make up or anything with me! Yes I am vain! Gosh that 84 sounds nice. It is 40 here right now. I am still going to go for a walk! That will be nice to have your Mom here!

Heidi, mom will be here til next Tuesday. Too short a visit it seems, as we have most days already planned with something. Their flight got in to ABQ late last night and they stayed the night there, driving in this morning. It's about a 3 1/2 hour drive.

In the meantime, we got the house all clean. Well, as clean as it's going to get. LOL! I have 4 children, it will not stay clean for long. haha!

But I'll probably stay away from the computer for a few days, so ya'll have a good week!

DS starts track tomorrow. He will have practice M-Th after school. It lasts until mid May only. This is our first foray into extracurriculars since he was never interested in contact sports. So we will see how it goes,he is looking forward to it.

Tonight my mom and I are headed downtown to see a play after dinner. The tickets were a Xmas present from my dad to her.
