Hi! I'm back! Long time no type! blah blah!
I have so much to tell you. I'm not even sure where to start. Suffice it to say, to begin with, I'm feeling better. I haven't been depressed like this--when I wasn't sick or something--in a while.
It always seems to be, though, just before a major change in my life. This time around, it's in my creative life. I'm not ready to share the details of that, and may never be, but the short version is that I finally broke through to something I've been trying to do for a very long time. (More after the cut.)
Josie and Lou are good, though Lou is driving me out of my mind. Josie was obnoxious at this age, too, and Lou is living up to her sister's example. I cannot wait until she's a little older. Like 30. Not really, but those of you with kids going through obnoxious cycles, I'm betting you can relate.
Josie is up to my nose! Part of what we went through this winter is that she came down with the absolute worst case of psoriasis I have ever seen. I mean, ever. She was covered from the top of her head practically down to the soles of her feet in redness, poor bunny.
After consultations with allopaths ("all we've got are steroids") and naturopaths ("oh heck yeah we've got all kinds of things we can try"), we discovered that Josie and I, and very probably Lou, are not just wheat-intolerant. We're gluten-intolerant. whee! It's funny. I've always suspected it in myself but was never ready to go gluten-free. Now, it's easy because it's for Josie. Her skin is almost entirely healed, her appetite has returned, and her attitude is better.
For me, my mood has improved, my brain is working a little better, I'm losing weight and best of all, my rosacea is gone! I've always had ruddy skin, but in the last ten years it's gotten really bad--blotchy, veiny, big bumps that would come and go. If not eating gluten means I won't have rosacea, I'm totally okay with not eating gluten. And right at the time we found this out, I got a review copy of Gluten-Free Girl. Some time soon I'm going to pump out the review, I promise. Short version: It's terrific.
The big news around here is that yesterday John gave his 2 weeks' notice at the Very Large Internet Company (the VLIC for short). He was happy at the VLIC, but he got an offer he couldn't refuse from an outfit we'll call the Very Small Internet Company (the VSIC for short). More money and best of all--he'll be joining us here at home! We're very excited about it all. It means that our lives are going to be upside down for a bit, but it'll mean lots of stuff for both of us to write about here as we adjust our routine. Or, well, get one.
It'll just be nice for him to have a life again; three hours of his day was spent commuting to and from work! And now it'll be 30 seconds.
More later, I have to go swap laundry!
