Submitted by jennye on Mon, 10/15/2007 - 6:58am.

How fun, Heidi! We don't have stuff like that out here. Well, Clovis probably does, but in P-ville, not so much. Usually one at the college in a dorm, some years it's decent, others it horrible. A few years ago they had 2 at the local mobile home dealership. They did a not-so-scary one in a new home for the kids, then they put about 8 old singlewides together and made a scary one for older kids (oldest kid was about 3 at the time, so we didn't do scary).

TADA:
*worked out (did 30 minutes on treadmill, some situps and pushups. that's enough for me. LOL!)

PODA:
*weekly blessing
*load of laundry
*news for paper
*maybe some more mowing (did some yesterday, found two rather large snake skins)
*print and pay some bills
*study and maybe take biology test today (due by tomorrow night)

Fall is in the air! 49 out right now, supposed to be 74 today.

Submitted by jennye on Mon, 10/15/2007 - 7:39pm.

I'm a true SHE today! LOL!

Yes, I got the house vacuumed. I got some laundry done (oh, but not folded. Oops). Did my news for the paper. And then you know what I did. I could have studied. I could have mowed. But instead, I rearranged furniture in the office. I shouldn't have. But I did. And it's not much cleaner than it was before. LOL!

Cya'll in the morning!

Shaun, I check out the pics, and I am so jealous!! They didn't have anything like that when I used to go (but my grandparents were cheap, too. We would either drive over for the day, or stay at a Knights Inn in Kissimmee). It looked like the girls had such a good time with royal treatment.

Running low on milk here (we only go thru 6-7 gallons a week!), and bread, and diapers. And Hobby Lobby has ribbon 50% off this week. So guess where I'm going? hehehe. Town day for me, I suppose. May wait til DH gets home. He's been out baling all night, then I can leave with the baby while he sleeps.

Wouldn't you know it: I got all the way to Clovis, and they only had ONE roll of ribbon that I needed! Had to have them raincheck me more. Hopefully will be in next week (really hope, since the wedding is Nov. 10!!). But, I did get some groceries, some stuff at the feed store, registration and insurance paid up on the feed truck, and made this year's land payment on the farm. All was not wasted.

Tonight is play practice, AGAIN. I'll be glad when this darn play is over next week! LOL!

TADA for today:

*took kids to school

PODA:

Submitted by jennye on Thu, 10/18/2007 - 6:33pm.

Home. Tired. It was a heartbreaking game. Junior High and JV all won, but Varsity lost in 3. Big time.

On the brighter side, I worked the bake sale and we made $379.10 for the third grade class. In fact, we sold out of everything. Not bad for a class of 16 students and a student body of 250. I ended up with an unexpected trip to town this morning: the parent that signed up for burritos has bronchitis and couldn't make them. Luckily, the 4th grade teacher's family happens to own a Mexican place in town. I ran in to pick up the filling, green chile and tortillas. Burritos are the biggest seller, we made 40 of them and sold out by 2nd lunch period.

Tired, I'm off to put my feet up for a while. Needless to say, no flying for me today. Maybe tomorrow.

Submitted by heidic on Fri, 10/19/2007 - 12:49am.

Good Morning!

Lunch out with Mom went well, she chose a Chinese restaurant. It was her birthday yesterday so it was my treat. I also gave her a bottle of Opium, her favorite fragrance. Stopped at Kohl's and got DD a couple things to wear to tide her over til Xmas. She had about 5 tops and 2-3 bottoms that still fit so I added a little to it since the weather is getting colder. Luckily, her winter coat will last this winter since I bought it a size larger last year. Need to have her try on her snow boots, may need a bigger size.

Jenny-sorry about the varsity loss, but hey,at least you sold a ton of burritos! Do you have the money from the sale earmarked for something special or does it go toward charity?

Submitted by jennye on Fri, 10/19/2007 - 6:52am.

Heidi, the money from our bake sales go to that class for field trips (admission, snacks, lunches, etc), or other things for the class (parties). What's neat about having just one class per grade is that the money stays with the CLASS, not the grade. Whatever money we have left over goes on to 4th grade, 5th grade, all the way til their Senior year. Juniors and Seniors do tons of bake sales, concession stands at games, and a few other events throughout the year to pay for Prom (Juniors) and Senior Trip (Seniors, of course). Each grade is allowed 2 bake sales per year (other groups, like FFA or boys basketball, may have more if the calender permits).

My house is in shambles. Why isn't if I'm not around for a couple of days, some little green monsters tear the place apart? LOL! I'll be working on it some, then over to the inlaws for dinner tonight.

Gone Again

Submitted by jennye on Sat, 10/20/2007 - 6:18am.

Gone again all day long today. After I jump in the shower and make myself up, get the kids all ready, we are off to the Peanut Festival in town. Just an arts and crafts show, some good ol' food (mmmm, kettle corn!!), supposed to have some kids stuff there now that the chamber of commerce has took over the festival. I'm anxious to see the changes this year. There is a quilt show too, at a different venue, but not sure if I will have time to hit it too. I have to be back at the school at 12:30 for the Varsity football game we are cheering at (and they need us! Not only are we playing our biggest rival, but most of the Varsity cheerleaders won't be there. They will be playing at their own volleyball game in another town at the same time! Tough being a small school and all athletes have to do as many sports as they can). Anyway, that should wipe me out for today.

Rose Figured it out!!

Submitted by jennye on Sat, 10/20/2007 - 2:09pm.

That's it! Little gray aliens!! Yup, 90 minutes from Roswell, I am! Well, glad that's solved! LOL!

I'm home. It's 4pm, I'm exhausted. I didn't buy much at the peanut festival. Some cute things, just didn't find anything I had to have, or that anyone else in my extended family had to have (for Christmas). I got a few pieces of Cowboy Fudge (yummy stuff!), and a few bags of kettle corn. And that's it. Too many booths of non-craft goods (like jewelry, or candles, or soaps, home and garden party stuff. But it was nice. If I had have had time, I would have stayed longer and probably bought a few things anyway.

But no. We had to cheer a game with an outcome of 54-6. And it was windy. And it's 90 out there. Hot, windy, tired, and chasing the two boys while coaching 20 girls. I'm tired. I don't want to fly today.

Submitted by Andrea on Sat, 10/20/2007 - 3:14pm.

Hi Everyone -
I don't feel like flying today either Jenny - mainly maintaining. I'm beat. we went to Edgewood Farms today for a fall fest kind of thing. One of DS10's friend's farm - it was nice - we got a hayride and checked out the 2500 acres and 700 cows if you can believe it! Watched sheep getting sheared, petted a really nice horse, etc. I should've been a farmer's wife - it looks like fun anyway!

Jenny, how do you maintain your size 7 or whatever it is eating tings like cowboy fudge and kettle corn??!! Those treats would pack 5 pounds in me in no time! I wanted to let you know that I ordered our split side of beef last week - it takes 4 weeks to process I guess and then we go out to the farm to pick it up. 2.33 per pound and I ordered a variety of roasts, steaks, ground beef, etc. I am looking forward to trying it - it is grain fed, not organic, but no hormones. They also process pork and chicken which I might try next. I am tired of paying big bucks at Wegmans for my meat.

Hi Rose - you should pipe up more often!

Hi Heidi! Sounds like a nice birthday lunch with your Mom. I've never tried Opium - is that a heavier floral scent?

OK, off to spend some time with DH or read. Kids are at a Halloween party -

Hoo!

Submitted by Shaun on Sat, 10/20/2007 - 5:22pm.

Sounds crazy Jenny!

We took advantage of the break in the rain to clean up leaves and mud. Because our dog is wearing down our grass we get these mudslides onto our sidewalk during the downpours! I just cringe when I look in our yard -- so white trash! Sorry, but there is just no other word for it. DH dealt with the compost -- we have a giant bin that is just held together with chicken wire, and a nice composter from Smith and Hawken. We transfered a lot of stuff to the fancy composter with some kind of fancy stuff that helps everything break down and get nutrient rich. Now the chicken-wire bin is ready for the tons and tons of leaves we'll get. Tiny city lot, but great big old city trees!

House is a mess! I have been so busy freelancing to make up for vacation time (not to mention vacation $$!) that I just keep the laundry and dishes going, try to make actual meals most nights, and forget the rest. Tomorrow I've got to do the floors -- we've got to be vigilant about mice.

In a few weeks the Archivers near us is having a "control journal" class -- not really a control journal, a household organizer, but I think it is the same principle, only you use fun papers and stamps and such. I am going with a friend who is a major flybaby -- I'm excited. I'll post pics if it turns out well.

Better see what I can get done for fun this Saturday night. We watched Knocked Up last night -- very funny (as long as you don't mind really dirty humor at times). I want to get some knitting done tonight too, as tomorrow is a full day -- church, meeting with some church people after mass, stopping at the grocery store, working, football/chili party at the neighbors (I didn't mention that we never watch football, as it was so nice to have neighbors being social!).

New Week

Submitted by jennye on Mon, 10/22/2007 - 6:26am.

Always glad when a new week starts, like a chance to start over. Now, if only DD10 hadn't started it off on a sour note (she did NOT want to get up this morning, and was just cranky all up til I dropped her off at school. Thank goodness I don't homeschool, I couldn't put up with her horomones day in day out!).

Andrea, enjoy your beef! I think grain fed is the way to go, rather than just grass. The grain gives it marbling and flavor. To me, only grass fed just doesn't taste as good. And if I'm going to have all that beef to eat, it better taste good! As for my size 7: I'm just enjoying high metabolism while I got it. Not trying to brag or anything, just how it is. Someday I'll gain 10 pounds just looking at the fudge. LOL! Still, I'd like to lose 5 pounds, be in a 5 again. Dreaming here...

Heidi, I think Cowboy Fudge is just regular old fudge made by a cowboy. LOL! I never seen them at the festival before, but glad they came! I bought three slabs of fudge, 2 of chocolate one of chocolate and toffee. But I discovered the latter gone when I got home from church yesterday, so I don't know if it was good or not.

Had a chuckle about you being a football widow. I'm the only one here who watches any sports at all. My husband is a baseball/college football widower. LOL!

Ah, but the only football I got to watch was us getting clobbered at school. Not a pretty game, plus it was 90 outside (however, 36 this morning).

Ok, back on task. Flying. Masterbedroom. I'm going to change and wash the sheets and quilt, flip my mattress, some laundry, find the dresser again. I'm still proofing my MILs genealogy book, 150 pages down, about 400 or so more to go. Got homework and quiz due by tomorrow, would be nice if I had it done today. Oh, but UPS is supposed to bring me books today from Amazon (quilt book and photography book). Must do news for paper this morning.

And weekly blessing.

Waves to Heidi, my lone friend this week. LOL!

Crap, it's Tuesday isn't it? Biology stuff due today, and I haven't even cracked it open yet for this week. Lab, discussion, and vocab quiz.

I got sidetracked, like a true SHE. Changed the sheets, washed all bedding, flipped the mattress. But before I flipped, I took the box springs off, and totally cleaned under the bed. Vacuumed it out, threw a bunch of stuff away (why are there so many toys in my room! Hello, I'm grown up now!! I don't play with toys anymore!). Well, that was about all I got done. I spent too much time on the computer putting CDs on it for the iPod I got for my birthday last week, and proofing MILs book (160 pages done), and looking at the new books Danny (the UPS dude) brought me yesterday. Oh, and made a cake for DH to take to the family of Mr. Tommy's today. And saw the girls dress rehearsal for tonight's dinner theater. Few other SHE jobs, too.

Today:
*biology work
*fold 3 loads of laundry that are done
*do another load

All online!

Submitted by jennye on Wed, 10/24/2007 - 1:30pm.

Andrea, the class is all online, never go to a campus. Even all the labs. One week I had to do a project involving cabbage leaves and testing acidity of different household things, another something with an egg and vinager and karo syrup. Pretty neat, actually.

Again, no flying yesterday. SIL came up for funeral (below), so I went to the inlaws to visit all day.

I got up, got the kids off to school, then made banana bread and brocolli casserole for funeral today. But they had so much food, there was no room for mine on the tables, so I brought it all back home (that's ok, I sent a cake to the house the other day).

Been funeralin' all day. We had it at school. It was a bus driver who went to school here, played ball here, farmed here, on school board for 16 years, then he and his wife have been driving the 2 of our 3 busses since the 60's! His family wanted the ceremony in the school gym so the kids could all say goodbye (they had to have permission slips done to attend). DH was a pall bearer, so we had to sit with the family. It was a good funeral (if you could call such a thing good). Glad they had it in the gym, there would not have been room at the mortuary in town. The floor was full of chairs plus all the bleachers were pulled out, too.

Time to go get the kids from school. Finally, tonight a night to stay at home. Maybe I can get some laundry folded.

I feel bad about posting and chatting about my day, because I haven't done any flying at all!

But, since I'm already here...

Pocahontas sounds really neat! DD8 was that one year. Andrea, I saw a girl trying on her Hannah Montana wig this morning, was amusing. Happy Birthday to your DH!

Spent the morning out. There was an honor roll assembly at the school mid morning, so I went to inlaws, dropped off the next 100 pages of the book I have proofed, mooched breakfast off them (hehehe), then back to the school for assembly, hit the 1st grade bake sale (mmmm, burritos and rice krispie treats!), and now home. Where I missed DH. He left sometime in the middle of the night to go bale hay, came home while I was at his parents, and is now back out in the field. LOL! We wave to each other on the road.

Tonight MIL wants to take the girls to a play at the university. I think the boys, DH and I may run over to a little town about 45 minutes away and watch our last regular season volleyball game. I should REALLY fold that laundry...

But right now, I need to finish planning the preschool halloween party. I'm the only parent that signed up to PLAN the parties AND bakesales this year in that class. Oh, lordy!! So, I better get crackin!

Submitted by jennye on Sat, 10/27/2007 - 7:07am.

I got the house semi-undercontrol yesterday. Although I had emptied the dirty clothes hamper in the kids bathroom, after they got done cleaning their rooms it was full again. LOL! But we got some picking up done, even if no real cleaning.

Today maybe I'll work on the cleaning part. I never got blessing done this week (ha, imagine that). Maybe I can do some of that today. I know flylady says to do it on Monday, but I sure would like it if the kids were here to help out with it. I think Friday or Saturday is a better day for it.

I started out with a workout this morning. Sorta. 1 minute of pushups, 1 minute of situps, and 15 minutes on the treadmill. I meant to do more on it, but dang it, 30 is a long time and I have things to do!! LOL!

This evening will be spent at the school for the Junior Carnival. DD10 is so excited, being a middle schooler now, she gets to work a booth. I'm excited because they have added a dance to the activities, after all the booths, bingo and auction. If Drew cooperates, I'll get a dance with my hubby!!

Submitted by jennye on Mon, 10/29/2007 - 6:15am.

We all must have spent the weekend flying, right? No one was around this thread, that's for sure! LOL!

Heidi, No I DIDN'T get to dance with DH!!! Hacked me down. We went to the junior carnival, but Drew was being such a turd running out of the gym and down the hall to the cafeteria every time I turned around, I didn't want to deal with him at the dance in the bus barn. So we came home instead.

Speaking of Drew, he got a big owie this weekend at the football game. He fell off the bleachers. Few cuts and bruises is all, he cried for about 10 minutes, got him cleaned up at the ambulance, then he was off and running again. I'm going to have to do something else with him for basketball season.

As for flying, I got caught up on laundry and maintained the kitchen and picking up, but nothing got really clean. I said before I think it's important for the kids to help out and learn, and I spent yesterday devising a plan for that. I'll still try to do the regular flying chores myself. But since things get dirty so fast around here, I want to basically do a blessing twice a week. I'll do one, and have the kids do the other. Girls are always fighting over chores (it's HER turn to do it!!), I let them pick the chores they wanted, and next week they will swap and do the other ones. Made a chart with it for them to initial, and this is what allowance will be based on (since I have announced I'm tired of buying batteries for everything, they may need that money. LOL!). Chance has a few easy chores on the list, like set the table. But litter box, feeding cat, dusting, some vacuuming, bathroom counters, will be done by the girls.

But today:
*news for paper
*quick blessing
*go by field to pick up hay samples
*off to C-town to take samples to the lab, go to hobby lobby and see if my ribbon came in yet, groceries

OMG, Shaun! I thought you had to be nursing for that! Hope it all clears up soon.

I got the house vacuumed yesterday before I ran out to do errands, which took all day. Got home in time to unload groceries, then right back out to pick up kids. Walmart had all their mums on sale, though. Smiling Hobby Lobby STILL didn't have my ribbon in! I sure hope it comes in before the wedding!!

Today I need to:
*take biology test
*start on biology lab
*laundry
*make cheesecake (teachers birthday tomorrow, she is my cousin, so I must embaress her)
*cookies and/or cupcakes for tomorrow
*fix a friends kids halloween costume

That should keep me busy most the day. Will tackle some paperwork if I get time.

A Halloween potluck sounds

A Halloween potluck sounds very neat! Have fun!

I need to make some brownies for DD8's party, then go to the school at 1 for all kids parties. I guess we will come home and get ready and go to town to invade that poor unsuspecting neighborhood. hehehe. We are also going to the nursing home in town to trick or treat there, too. And will have to stop by the inlaws as well.

That's it for us. DH and I are having a war on the playstation (I am SO kicking his butt!!).

Have fun Heidi! It sounds like you live in a great neighborhood.

What PS game Jenny?

I am bringing home takeout for us and then Mom and Dad are joining us after dinner. I thought I might put some spiced apple cider on the stove for them. They will stay at the house to answer the door while DH and I head out with the kids and some of their friends. It should be fun - Halloween is HUGE here. I will try to post some photos on the blog soon.

Maintaining at home - the laundry is driving me crazy. My kids throw clean clothes in the laundry all the time!

See ya and have a good nite -

We're totally not ready for Halloween. Costumes not ready, and DH came home from work totally ill. I am a little stressed.

Hope everyone has a good night!
