Morning Everyone - Back to
Morning Everyone -
Back to work for me today - then after work I'm picking up my folks from the airport - so a busy today.
Got a lot done this weekend, including a bit of gardening. I can't believie you cut back ALL of your summer perennials Heidi!
well, gotta run -
Andrea
I feel a bit better today,
I feel a bit better today, but still stuffy and coughing. I'm going to call the dentist and see what they say I should do (cancel or not).
Most everything hinges on that. I need to unload the camper (not much stuff this time) and clean it out (vacuum and mop), put away Sam's stuff. My yard needs to be mowed really bad. Will see what the day holds in store.
Good Afternoon
Pot Roast sounds delish Heidi. Hope your ds is feeling better soon.
No real TADA's to report today. After Trey and I did some reading I pretty much took the day off. We're all in varying stages of sick. It started with dh and has made it's way threw the family. Anyway, I needed the day off and I took it
Good Morning
Good Morning
Andrea, are your parents visiting for a while?
Glad you’re on the mend Jenny, I had the crud last week but I’m feeling better today.
Shaun, Disney! I’m so jealous, how long are you all staying?
Heidi, you’re as organized as I remember
How have you been?
Well I do have a TADA for today so I'm going to post that and then my biggest TADA for the day....
After this I'm off to bed! Bed before midnight, can't beat it!
TADA
*homeschooled
*cut grass in the front yard
*hung Halloween lights (I put out the Scarecrows last week)
*finished fall decorating inside
*painted pumpkins with the kids
*cut 3/4 of the back yard before dark (I'll finish up tomorrow)
*swept/mopped kitchen and dinning room
*cleaned blinds in the dinning room
*washed table cloth and put back on the table
*BBR
Seems like I get a little more done when I know I'll be TADA'ing so I'm going to try to stick with it this time. (Jenny can give me a kick in the pants if I don't post)
TADA today was NADA.
TADA today was NADA. Dentist told me to come on in and he yanked that sucker out! Didn't hurt a bit. I love my dentist (and he's a hottie to boot!). Of course tonight it's a little bit sore. I'm staying drugged up a bit. I was a bit ticked that the ice cream machine at McDonalds was broken, though. I could have used a sundae.
It's nice to know somebody still wants me. I got a call from an Army recruiter tonight. Seems he got my name off the student list at the community college. I thought that was pretty funny. Of course, I told him with 4 kids, husband, a farm and a ranch I just don't think I could fit the Army into my life right now. LOL!
Maybe tomorrow will be a more productive day for me.
Shaun, Disney sounds like FUN! Do the girls know yet or it is a surprise?
Jamie lea, you need to give ME a swift kick in the butt to get my rear in gear!!
Happy Monday
Sorry about the work stress, Andrea. I really feel for you.
Glad to hear you're better Jenny. I felt pretty crappy this weekend but starting last night I am clearly on the mend. It may help (?) that my new antidepressant feels like speed compared to the old one, which made me feel like a lumbering old bear. Now if I could just fall asleep before dawn . . .
Better get to work. Tons to do in the next couple of weeks before . . . da da DAH! . . . our trip to Disney World!!

Heidi
Hi All -
Wow JamieLea - you have jumped right back in! Awesome!
Yes, my parents are here for 2 to 3 months. They have an apartment here that they will be staying in. yay! Free babysitting! Of course I can't call it that around DS10.
Heidi, I did my black eyed susan, most of them anyway. It was a pain as they got pretty big this year. I still need to do more black eyed susans in another garden, plus all the hostas and assorted other things. Baby steps....
He's a hottie, Jenny? You crack me up. Easy on the eyes when you are laying there in the chair, huh?
OK, I must run!

Andrea, thanks for the link to your blog! Loved it!
Hi Heidi and Jamie Lea!
I got the camper unloaded this morning. Well, most of it. I'm on strike on doing EVERYTHING for the kids, I'm making the girls bring their own stuff in. Which will have to wait til tonight, or, uh, tomorrow? Let's see, they have play practice right after school, then there is a home volleyball game after that. Soooo, sheesh, busy afternoon just like that. Looks like dinner will be concession stand (yay!!).
My mouth is kinda sore after having that wisdom tooth yanked out, I'm eating some grits this morning. Have to eat something before drugging myself up, right? Got laundry to do, and I bought more tubs at Walmart yesterday, need to fill those up and move them to the other house (though I should really organize and sort all the baby stuff a bit better first). Need to mop and do bathrooms, too. And the lawn maybe. Then ballgames tonight. DD10 is so excited, now that she is in middle school, she likes to sit with all the big kids on the north side of the bleachers and cheer/facepaint, etc with them.
Time to run!
Got 2 loads of laundry done,
Got 2 loads of laundry done, put away a few things, took a biology test (which was horrible!!), then ended up staying after school for volleyball games (excellent Varsity game! Very close. Ended up coming down to one point in the 5th game! Wow!!). Gotta catch up some more today. More laundry. And mowing, I hope. And some deskwork.
Time to drug up my mouth some more. Still sore.
Oh, we mowed. Drew sat in
Oh, we mowed. Drew sat in my lap and we did alot of mowing today. Yard (back and front), and several areas outside the yard that had 5 foot tall weeds. 2 loads of laundry done. Dinner made and cleaned up. And I'm beat. Hopefully tonight I'll get to sleep in MY bed (Drew and I got the sofa last night. DH complains that Drew kicks him in the back too much, so we gave him a break last night).
I ate real food today. Grits for breakfast, then BLTs for lunch and speghetti for dinner. Nice to eat again. Mouth barely sore tonight. yay!

Sorry about the Harvest fest
Sorry about the Harvest fest today, Heidi. Will it still be going on tomorrow? We have our Peanut Festival here next week, which is the start of MY Christmas season. I can usually find a few gifts there. Oh, and freshly made kettle corn. Yummy!!!
Me and the kids all went to town for the wedding planning meeting. Almost as soon as I got there I got a text from DH that our dog is at the neighbors (a mile away) and according to her, he was killing her goats. Well, he wasn't. I got FIL to go over there and bring him home and chain him up til I could get home myself. He hadn't touched anything, but the cranky old hag proceeded to tell FIL that HE needed to keep him penned up on a concrete pad (FIL told HER that it wasn't HIS dog, that this was the first offense, and it wasn't HER place to tell him or me how to take care of my dog. Go FIL!!). I got home and helped FIL hook the dog pen up to the electric fencer. Guess he won't be getting out now! LOL! Poor thing, though.
That screwed up most of my day, which had not only included the meeting I left in the middle of, but a birthday party DD8 was supposed to attend, because I'm not going all the way back to town. Well, not like there is a lack of things around the house for me to do, right? LOL!
Small TADA from yesterday:
*cleaned windows in living room and kitchen (including sill in kitchen, which was a wreck).
*a few other zone chores in kitchen, like cleaned the oven, stove top (with easy off), counters, microwave.
*vacuumed LR and picked up stuff in there. The kids things seem to grow legs and walk out in the living room to live. They must, apparently NONE of the kids brought them out (dripping with sarcasm here)
*loaded up my pickup with a bunch of trash and empty boxes (which DH got to go dump today, since he wanted to use that pickup today).
*two loads of laundry (but not put away yet)
I have some desk chores to do still (bills mostly). I'm sure I'll find other things to do as well. hehehe.
HI All - Hope everyone is
HI All -
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend! How was the haunted house Heidi? Did I tell you I just started Thousand Splendid Suns? I must have. I'm just getting into it. Middlesex is very good if you can get past the weirdness. I also just finished Amy and Isabelle for the second time (by mistake!) Pretty good too.
Sorry about the dog Jenny - hope he can get out now and then.
We did church this am, then drove to The Apple Farm - near here. Unfortunately most apples were already picked, but we did get some. Now debating whether or not I feel like grocery shopping. Hmmmmmmm. I am pretty tired -

We are all off til tuesday here. So friday's PODA involves decorating for Halloween and some cleaning. May go to a harvest fest Saturday, watch football on Sunday, and DS has an ortho appt on Monday. That's the bare bones outline so far.
Jenny-how did the biology test go? How many bows do you have to make? Are they for favors or to put on the pews?
Andrea-I don't scrap but a good friend does. Today at Aldi they had really nice scrapping sets. Maybe yours does too.

Excitement in P-ville.
Excitement in P-ville. Haz-mat drill at the high school. All volunteer depts have been called in to assist. Cool! Been listening to the scanner all morning. Well, except that I had 4 kids at school (not my own kids) show up in cheer uniforms (tomorrow is homecoming, pep rally today. But we do NOT wear uniforms to school). I had to come home and get some clothes for them to change out of them.
I hope to do more laundry, maybe some vacuuming. Most of the day will be shot, though. Pep rally is at 12:45 and the fun and games will last the rest of the school day (til 3:30). Then we will run home, eat a bite, then head up to the town 20 miles north for volleyball game (our biggest rivalry, BIG game. As big as homecoming tomorrow!).
I do have a couple of desk chores that has to be done, so here is where I'll be I guess.
Afternoon
I remember back when I couldn't keep up with the posts over here, it's so slow now, what's up with that?

Jenny, that haz-mat drill sounds wild, we never did anything like that in school. Most we ever had was a tornado drill.
You are always a witch, hey
You are always a witch, hey Heidi??! Don't know what we are this year. DS10 says just a mask while DD8 is looking for a Sharpay costume, not sure if we can put that together though.
Hi to everyone else - JamieLea, Jenny, where is everyone???!!!
Well, we had a really nice weekend in....Cooperstown, NY.... Yes, we went to the Baseball Hall of Fame! I know that isn't exciting for everyone, but it is a passion for DS and DH loves it too so it is pretty special for us. It was a nice trip - my parents went too and we had adjoining rooms in the hotel. The whole area is beautiful - we went to a cider mill this am which was awesome - I love the fall apples, cheese, pies, wine, etc. Yum - there is nothing better than those fall flavors!
OK, on to flying - unpacked and made dinner, dishes done, laundry almost done. Vacuumed, picked up dog, need to dust mop upstairs still. That can wait. Back into the routine tomorrow...
See ya!

As for me, I'm MIA because I am desperately trying to complete taxes, meet deadlines, and prepare for our trip to Disney World on Wednesday. I'm psyched!!
Hope you sickies (and sick kids) start feeling better. That's great news about your cat, Andrea!
I'm off to pick up the fanny packs and socks I ordered from REI online. No blisters for me!

I hope you have an awesome trip Shaun! Please go on the Tower of Terror for me and also Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Splash Mountain - oh and my fav - Soarin'! We went in May, 2006 and loved it, even though we are not who most people would think of as "Disney People".
Most chores done now except dust mopping upstairs - maybe I can catch that tomorrow - I am off to bed now -

Jenny-sorry about the game, maybe you should brand the buffalo of theirs with a Haz Mat symbol!!! LOL
Andrea- good for you about the housekeeper! Hope you enjoyed the weekend away, did it involve the Yankees???
DD came down with a fever after school and I gave her another dose of tylenol just a bit ago(that's why I am awake, not insomnia this time)I hope she doesn't get what DS had for about a week. He missed 2 days of school and was really coughing his head off. No strep at least. So I plan on laying low this weekend so DD can rest, etc.
DH has painted the outside of our house this past week. It went from white siding that was very faded to a light yellow beige color. It looks so much better now. It was needed for such a long time. We had been concentrating on indoor renovations since we moved in 5 years ago and never got to the siding. So now it's done. And they managed NOT to squash my perennial beds too!!!Yay
Well,have a good weekend Everyone
Heidi
Hi all- Well, we have
Hi all-
Well, we have averted a major crisis. Our black cat was lost and is now found, thank God. He was gone for 24 hours, which is unusual since he is an indoor cat.
Looking forward to a weekend trip with my parents to a nearby town. Should be fun. Think sports!
I have caved and hired housekeeper. Only twice a month to do a once-over. I will still be hanaging in with you guys in between cooking and cleaning and being a homemaker! With work and home stress lately this was my best option. Like Lynn says it costs much less than a therapist!!
See ya and have a great weekend guys!
Andrea
http://blackcatchronicles1.blogspot.com/
I should clarify: the
I should clarify: the Haz-mat drill wasn't really FOR the school. It was for the hospital, police, and fire departments. They used some of the students for actors to play wounded. They had scripts to follow for the EMTs (one had "chemical burns", another was critical and he told my husband "I'm hurt and can't talk to you"). They had to follow all these protocol procedures. Most of the students had business as usual, just a select few got to participate in the drill. DH had a blast (since it was all fake, ya know) and said he learned alot.
As for the game last night: we lost. It was heartbreaking. This school has such bad sportsmanship (they brought their mascot, a buffalo, to OUR homecoming a few years ago. We won that game and they got him out of there before we could go brand him). It was down to game 5 and tied til the very end. In volleyball, you have to win by 2 points. They finally made it two ahead of us, 14-16. There is alot of history behind these two schools together, it was really a letdown for us, especially after winning under the exact same circumstances Tuesday night with our other rival school.
Anyway, it's a busy day today, but not for flying. Homecoming. Junior High starts at 1pm, Varsity at 4, coronation stuff in between the two games. DH will be working the ambulance, of course. And I have little cheerleaders to coach. Drew and I are STILL sick, so I'm not going to attempt much around here today.
Morning all! Andrea, so glad
Morning all!
Andrea, so glad the cat was found! Was she lost outdoors, or somewhere in the house for 24 hours?
Heidi, how cool on painting your house!! One of these days I need to do mine. All that can be painted is the eaves of the house, the rest is brick. But the only color that goes with the brick is dark brown. I hate dark brown. LOL!
Game went well yesterday, we won! Very good for homecoming, right? I felt like crap most of the day when the meds wore off. Today same crud, lots of coughing and blowing my nose. But I have to fly around the house today. No plans on going anywhere, so I have the time to do it today. I'll try a check in later!
Good Afternoon! Jenny-maybe

I hate baby shots.
Poor Drew
DH's took the day off so probably not much flying going on here today. Darn, I really wanted to clean *lol*
I went to yard sales this weekend and added 25+ books to our growing home library for less that $20! Yes, I'm quite pleased with myself
Heidi, how are your kids? We've been sick around here, I think we're all ok now but Savannah was the last to get it so she's not 100% yet.
Back from town. No shots
Back from town. No shots for Drew (thankful for the both of us. It's too hard to get him to take medicine. I have to put it in his juice to trick him to take it). DH was doing some business in town too, so I left my truck at the parts house and we rode around with him, looking at new houses (trying to see what style we can both agree on for if/when we build one) and went to eat at Applebees.
I need to do some quick cleaning and work on dinner. School Board meeting tonight, which means DH is gone, but a friend and kids are coming over. Lasagna for dinner I think. Need to thaw out some meat for that...
I'm so jealous! I wanna go
I'm so jealous! I wanna go to Disney World!! I haven't been since I used to live down there. Have a fun and safe trip.
I working on a few projects around the house. I finally put all boxes of baby clothes and other items babyrelated in tubs, then discovered that the lids are the wrong size (they were right there with the tubs, one would think they would be the right size). So next trip to town I'll exchange those.
Load of laundry in the dryer now. I need to stick to the one load a day thing, not many days off then do a thousand loads. Kitchen is fairly clean, beds are made. I still can't shake this crud stuff. And I'm so tired. Wonder if I can talk Drew into a nap later on. Oh, but I have homework and a lab and threaded discussion to do for biology due by tonight. Kids have play practice after school, and I really want to see the volleyball game (home game). When did life get so busy? LOL!
Laters.
Yay on the 4 day weekend,
Yay on the 4 day weekend, Heidi! Hope you find some time to relax!
Well, the ONE thing I really wanted nobody had: the EZ bow maker. Hobby Lobby hadn't seen one in a while, and neither Walmart had them. Well, that's all the places we have. I found a picture of one on the internet, DH is going to try to make it for me, but I have to get some dowels. In the meantime, I'm practicing the old fashioned way, holding it all in my hand.
These are bows for the pews right now. I suppose if I develop a knack for it, I'll be making them for everything, if they have them on anything else. The wedding party is just a maid of honor and a best man, and the guys are just wearing blue jeans and new pink shirts (the colors are pink and black. I got pink and white ribbon (satin and toule). I couldn't bring myself to getting any black. It would look like a funeral!!. I think the entire guest list is less than 100 people, and the reception will be like, cheese and crackers, maybe some sandwiches and tortilla wraps! LOL! Gosh, and I thought mine was small, with about 250 people and a full homemade BBQ meal and dance with my SILs 16 year old boyfriend playing DJ.
Girls are spending the night at Grammie's house. Just me and the guys here tonight. I promised DS5 Indiana Jones movies and popcorn. Night!
Well, I skipped the nap and
Well, I skipped the nap and did all my biology homework instead. And I stayed after school for the volleyball games, didn't get home til 8 (I make kids do their homework during Junior High or JV games). All three teams (JV, JH, and Varsity) won, go Broncos!! Not much else with flying yesterday.
Today, need to fold a load of laundry and do another. Not sure what else. It's not that their is a lack of things to do, just haven't decided where to start first. LOL!

I'm going to town today.
I'm going to town today. Yes, I just went the other day. But a friend whose son is getting married invited me to a meeting for planning the wedding on Saturday (ie, need ideas to make it a nice wedding while being very, very cheap), then asked me if I can make bows. So, I need to go to Hobby Lobby and find a bow maker thingie and learn to make bows. This is a very small wedding (a rather unexpected one, if you know what I mean. The bride is still in high school). It's a very tight budget wedding and I did offer to help out with anything if they needed it, since they are pretty good friends of ours. I have my paycheck (whoohoo, $60 last month!), so I'm going to cash that and use it.
I'll find other things to make the trip worthwhile, too. Like a new vaporizer (mine spits everywhere). And a frostie at Wendy's.
Funny, you talking about the cold already, Andrea. It's still in the upper 80's here during the day. LOL! Our first frost date is usually around the middle of October, but the forecast doesn't show anything lower than 45 for the next ten days. New Mexico is so strange. I've seen it snow on Halloween, then there are years when it stays warm up into November and December. We've had Christmases with a foot of snow, and some in the 70's.
I'm just no good at this...
I'm so outta practice with the whole forum thing, I don't know how long I'll stick around but at least I’m not disappearing like I’ve done before.
The blog just seems to work better, I feel guilty when I don't post here everyday where on my blog I can go days and days without posting and feel no guilt. KWIM?

Anyway, I'll keep up with all of you just like I always have, I think now that most of you have blogs (and I have them bookmarked) it will be easy peasy keeping up with you all.

We (DS and I) made a really great soup for dinner I thought you guys might be interested in - fairly easy and cooks up in 45 minutes or so. I added pasta at the end. Nice for a Sunday night supper - football game, etc. One kid ate it, the other only ate the pasta. Oh well, DH and I liked it -

Good Morning!
Well, since we didn't go the the Harvest fest we all spent the day running here and there-DH and DS got haircuts,DD got new gym shoes,we went to several stores looking at Halloween decorations, and then had dinner at a Mexican restaurant. So the laundry and vacuuming gets moved to today as well as getting lunch meat for the week at BJ's. Since we have no school tomorrow, I will be taking DS to one of the area haunted houses. There are plenty to choose from but I think we will go to the closest one about 15 minutes away. Hopefully, since it is a Sunday, the lines won't be so long tonight.
Jenny-sorry about the dog situation, that stinks.
Andrea- I just finished A Thousand Splendid Suns. It was awesome, I cried of course. Do you have any good recommendations?
Better go......

Glad you got alot of stuff
Glad you got alot of stuff done anyway, Heidi.
We ditched church today. I just didn't feel like getting everyone dressed up and go to town again. Selfish, I know.
I did take care of a couple of procrastination things yesterday, I had to order checks for the computer AND to write. I realized I didn't have enough to print all the bills this month. LOL! My poor dog is still locked in his electric cell, I'll try to get him out and play with him some today. I need to take some pictures of some things around here for my mother. And how is it that the same living room I worked hard on Friday was a mess again last night? Makes me not want to try very hard.
It's going to be a beautiful day outside today, should barely hit 80. If the wasps aren't too bad, maybe I can get some outdoor work done.
