Howdy all! Lost internet

Submitted by jennye on Tue, 09/18/2007 - 6:12am.

Howdy all!

Lost internet almost all day yesterday. Storm hit town, but missed us (thank goodness, we have hay on the ground). Weather forecasters don't know what the weather is doing until they look outside. We had 10% chance of rain til yesterday morning, then they upped it to 60%. Anyway, got my errands done yesterday.

Today, I want to work on the walls in the new room. Cleaning them, that is. DH is going to do some patching, I'll do the cleaning. Then I hope in a few days I can get some paint and do that. We found some tile we liked and are going to attempt to do that ourselves. Did have a bit too much fun in Lowes. I could just die in that store. We are so looking forward to building our dream house someday!

Also have to take a Biology test sometime today. I haven't even read one of the chapters yet (yikes!). At least I get to use my book and notes.

Have a good one!

Yuck!

Lost internet -- how awful!

We had rain here too, but luckily no storms. Just trying to keep DW and laundry moving on this gray lazy day.

DD4 is dying for me to be her playmate, so I am trying to do that rather than all the other things I want to jump up and do.

DD8 is standing here waiting to write about a new character on my computer and she is really bugging me because she is reading everything I am writing, so I am going to go and get her good!!

Well,hello . I decided to

Submitted by heidic on Tue, 09/18/2007 - 2:17pm.

Well, hello . I decided to take a break for a bit but am back. Sounds like everyone is well and busy,as usual. Some friends of mine kidnapped me for an overnight camping trip. It was quite fun, just the girls. We played games by the campfire an drank adult beverages. The best part was sleeping in the next morning and no cooking! They had planned this for a month, those sneaky women! Gotta love good friends....

The kids are in full swing at school. I have been enjoying my freedom again so to speak. I will be subbing again this year, in fact I will tomorrow. I don't want to sub more than 2-3 days a week. Plus it's my district so my schedule is the same as my kids for holidays and early dismissal days,etc..

Got my mums in bloom and planted sedum this year. Need to put up cornstalks on the porch soon. I love fall decor, it is my favorite season of all. Clambake season is here too. We may have one here but I would rather attend one( less work)!

Gotta get going, good to be back.

HI all-

Welcome back Heidi! We missed you! Were you trying to focus more on the house or were you just tired of us??!! LOL-

Hi Shaun and Jenny!

Must run, just poking in -

Hi Heidi!! Welcome back!

Submitted by jennye on Wed, 09/19/2007 - 5:58am.

Hi Heidi!! Welcome back! Sounds like a fun kidnapping party!! I had that happen once. The day I turned 17. Friends came to the house at 5am, kidnapped me, gave me a makeover (not a good one, either. Wild make up and hair and clothes), all in order to leave me on a busy street in Albuquerque with a sign that said "Honk, it's my birthday". LOL! Yours sounds better. Adult beverages involved. LOL!

Shaun, crazy how our children are running us off the computer!!

Not much flying done yesterday, just maintained. Oh, and actually ironed clothes after they came out of the dryer (not much, 2 shirts). Baby steps, right. LOL! Took my test, cleaned the nasty window in the garage, started cleaning the walls (ugh! 40 years of yuck on them!!). Didn't get far on that one.

Not sure what the day will hold for me today. Will think of something I'm sure. LOL!

I'm popping in to say hello.

I'm very bogged down in classwork right now, but I'm maintaining pretty well. Just no computer time to speak of.

Glad to see everyone is well...

See ya,

Hi Jo! Glad to see you

Submitted by jennye on Thu, 09/20/2007 - 6:56am.

Hi Jo! Glad to see you poking in for a sec!

DS5 did the unforgivable: He erased all the progress I had been doing on the video game!! I was 76% done, then I was down to 5%!! I can't believe he did that! I know it was an accident, but still, I had to start all over. LOL! His timing sucked on that, Aunt Flo is going to be arriving soon.

Going to town again today. All the kids are invited to a birthday party on Saturday, I need to get a present and take some movies back. Also running low on bread and milk (again), and DD10 forgot her lunch. Gotta run that by the school. Need to make a hair appointment for next week get my hair colored (pictures for church directory are next Thursday).

I realized last night how horrible I have been when it comes to dinners. I was trying to figure out what to fix, thought for sure I had some hamburger helper or tuna helper. Didn't have neither. Also didn't have speghetti sauce. So my quick meals without being mac and cheese or speghettios or hotdogs (all of which we had done this week) were exhausted. I fixed pancakes. I should be better prepared than this. I should have had thought ahead of time what would be for dinner, instead of looking at 5pm. I need to make menues again and plan better. I'll do that before I go to town today.

heidic's picture

Thanks for the warm welcome

Submitted by heidic on Fri, 09/21/2007 - 12:18am.

Thanks for the warm welcome back guys! As if I were gone for years No particular reason I wasn't posting just stepped back a bit.

Jenny- dinner is my downfall too. I don't really enjoy cooking and I look at it as a chore so my ideas are limited and I procrastinate til the end. But at least we are guaranteed a meal by 6pm, usually with a protein, a starch, and a veggie...

Subbing went well Wednesday. I wish I got called more this week but that's how it goes.
Getting the house ready for fall-mums and cornstalks outside, gourds and leaves(fake) inside. Made pumpkin pie and will help DH stack wood this weekend for our woodstove. The garden centers are doing their fall festivals too so I'll pick 1 or 2 to take DD to. She enjoys the corn mazes, pumpkin painting, pony rides, food, and scarecrow making. DS is not interested any more in that stuff, too babyish for him I guess.

So PODA
morning routine
read paper
meeting 9-11
bamk
lunch
sort mail
couple calls
1 load laundry
dinner
movie or games

Just me again. Well,

Submitted by jennye on Fri, 09/21/2007 - 7:30am.

Just me again. Well, ok.

Went to town yesterday, did all of the above (except I'm pissed that I dropped off DD10s lunch at the school and apparently forgot to give it to her, so she went without lunch).

Today I have parent teacher conferences. I asked MIL to watch the kids for me (thank goodness!). I feel bad asking her for that today, plus watch Drew on Monday so I can get my hair colored (too much brown showing, need to be blonde!). Right now just trying to be quiet around the house, DH is still sleeping. Firestation in town cleared out the house to fight a fire, he had to go babysit it all night in case of other happenings in town (no idea if there was any, he came home and crashed hard, haven't talked to him yet).

jennye's picture

So, two days later and I'm

Submitted by jennye on Sun, 09/23/2007 - 9:26am.

So, two days later and I'm STILL the only one here. I guess everyone is just too busy flying. Better than I am, I suppose! LOL!

Yesterday we went to a birthday party for the kids. I passed DH on the road as he came home to sleep a while. When we got back, he was heading out the door again. This is harvest, after all. While at the party, I got a call that my pig was on it's way home. So as soon as the party was over, I was racing home to make room in the freezers for it.

This year I didn't get any hams (since I still had the 4 from last years pig). Instead, they made the hams into jerky. Pork jerky is YUMMY!!! Got lots of polish sausage and brauts, too. Both freezers are completely full again. We really need to eat more roasts. I have tons of pork and beef roasts and sirloin steaks, but almost no ground beef left.

I'm working on several projects today. We ditched church again. DS5 had a slight fever and wasn't feeling well (he didn't eat breakfast, so something is wrong). Decided he should rest so he can go to school tomorrow (and I have hair appt tomorrow! yay!!).

Hi Everyone - Sorry Jenny!

Submitted by Andrea on Sun, 09/23/2007 - 3:44pm.

Hi Everyone -

Sorry Jenny! I feel like our thread is dying! WE needs some new Flybabies!

That is really exciting about your meat - I am thinking of doing that with beef from a nearby cattle rancher.

Well, here goes -

PODA this weekend:
FR carpet cleaned with new cleaner - yay!
kitchen mopped
other carpets vacuumed
bathroom cleaned
2 pages scrapped
laundry done
one set of sheets changed
menu made
grocery shopping done
other misc. errands
church and Sunday School
kept up with dishes and cooking
laundry all done
vacuumed garage
cat to vet
my eyebrows waxed

OK, I know this is a very disjointed list, but I am feeling pretty proud of myself!

It was a busy weekend, but productive. We have DH's parents and their friens coming in for two nights tomorrow so will be very busy with that. Have a good week everyone!

Just us, Andrea. LOL! WOW,

Submitted by jennye on Sun, 09/23/2007 - 6:23pm.

Just us, Andrea. LOL! WOW, you got alot done!!

Me:
3 loads of laundry (well, still have to fold 2)
made a good dinner of pot roast and homemade buns (but of course, DH had to go fight a fire, then to straight to the field, so no dinner for him with the family. He will eat when he gets home, which could be about 1am)
scrubbed kitchen counters and kept it clean all day (except right now it's covered in dinner dishes. Will take care of that in a minute, after kids are done with baths/showers

Ugh. That wasn't much of a TADA. I know I was busy doing stuff, it just wasn't anything really important. I guess I kinda did a fling-boogie in a kitchen drawer.

Going to do my news tonight for the paper so I don't have to worry about it tomorrow. Getting hair done as soon as I get the kids off to school and baby over to MILs.

Morning Everyone -
Thanks Jenny - I feel pretty good about it. NOW I'm ready for my weekend. Unfortunately it's Monday morning and I need to be showered and out of here in 40 minutes!

Could you post your recipe for homemade buns? Or email or something? I don't make things like that much and I know my kids would like them.

Have a great day everyone - my big PODA is a dentist appointment (2 fillings) plus getting ready for guests.

See ya!

Hey guys

Submitted by Shaun on Mon, 09/24/2007 - 7:21am.

This was my birthday/anniversary weekend, so I kept very very busy. Too busy! But we did have a great dinner out last night, and I got to do a lot of knitting and some scrapbooking, so that's all good.

House is a mess though -- didn't do any cleaning over the weekend!

So I don't have much in the way of flying to offer -- just trying to keep us in clean clothes, and make the bathroom seem safe to use!

Glad you guys are doing a bit better than me!

Shaun, happy

Submitted by jennye on Tue, 09/25/2007 - 8:25am.

Shaun, happy birthday/anniversary!! Sounds like a busy, but productive, weekend.

No flying for me today. DS5 teacher called this morning and asked if I could babysit her infant grandson, her daughter has it coming out both ends (TMI!!). Then DS5 woke up with a scratchy throat, so he stayed home (but claims he is "all better now"). So I have three kids today, my ds5, dsalmost2 and a 2 month old. Any spare time (except this very moment) will be studying and doing today's homework/test for biology. Just a little busy today. LOL!

Oh my gosh Jenny, that is crazy! Definitely small town stuff!

Happy Anniversary/B.Day Shaun!

Crazy couple days - we've had guests for a couple nights - leaving in the am. Just been maintaining mostly. DD's room is really bugging me now - it is picked up, but there is too much stuff in there and it is not that organized. Plus none of the furniture matches or anything - not sure when I will have time to get to that -

I'm off to bed -

We've been dealing with a fussy baby for a few days-- took him to the doc yesterday and come to find out he has an ear infection. He is feeling better now and was ready to go back to daycare today. Not a WHOLE lot of flying going on, but oh well. I managed to buy groceries today, and some of them are even put away!

Oh, and I changed the sheets.

Hi Lois!! Nothing new going

Submitted by jennye on Thu, 09/27/2007 - 6:05am.

Hi Lois!! Nothing new going on here, just the same ol' same ol'. LOL!

No flying yesterday, just maintained. I have lights in my garage now! And electrical outlets that work (there were 2 before, but one didn't work. Now I have 4 working ones). I would really like to begin scrubbing down the walls good, getting muddobber nests down, etc. Maybe next week we can patch and mud the walls then paint. As soon as the paint is done, the floor is next, then I can kick out all of DH's crap!! LOL!

But, I also need to seriously catch up on laundry today. And I still haven't done that closet in the laundry room yet. I can't get to the closet in the boys room again, and the path to the beds in the girls room is once again cluttered (but they will have to do that. They are old enough, and I have leverage: I threaten to feed the kitten to the dog. bwahahaha!!). Oh, and the yard needs to be mowed really bad (and trash picked up out there, thanks to the dog).

Baby is awake, and laundry is calling. Better get a move on it.

Hi JamieLea!! You should

Submitted by jennye on Fri, 09/28/2007 - 7:40am.

Hi JamieLea!! You should come around here a little more often and keep me and Andrea company. LOL!

I got lots done yesterday. First I tackled the storage closet in the laundry room (horrible closet. Not deep enough to be a walk-in, but very wide, with a regular door on it. One side has shelves that you can't reach the back of, but the other side has some big unused water heater type thing that I think used to have something to do with solar panels that the previous owners once had. I have a filing cabinet in there, too). Anyway, I had boxes of clothes that the baby and DD8 has outgrown and won't be used in this household again. At least, I'm not planning on it. LOL! but, I'm a bad flybaby and will NOT get rid of most of the baby things. ANYWAY, I:
*boxed up all outgrown clothing from that closet into tubs (to be stored in house next door)
*which enabled me to put some boxes from the pantry in that closet (my grandmother's glasses which I love, but no room for them in my cupboard at this time)
*cleaned out the top of boys' closet (clothes that Chance has outgrown, but Drew hasn't gotten into yet)
*cleaned boys room good (many toys put away in the closet)

Still need to throw away a bunch of the boxes that are now empty (love plastic tubs!), move tubs to storage house. Will also need to buy more tubs, as there are 6 boxes in the hallway of baby things that need to be tubbed up. And I have a box of stuff to donate. Flylady wouldn't be proud of what I'm keeping, but maybe that I got the stuff out of the house. LOL!

Not sure what the day holds. Except more laundry. And ironing. Tonight we have pictures for the church directory (and thank goodness I got all the blue hairspray out of the girls hair from last night's volleyball game!). Planning on eating out at Pizza Hut. Then tomorrow we are taking the camper to Lubbock for the weekend and mud bogs.

Ugh, my cold has moved right into my chest and I have a terrible, painful cough. I did manage to make dinner earlier today so DH can heat it up while I work a bit. Had to blow off our tickets to the Ren. Fest -- DD8 was crushed!

Hope you are feeling better soon Shaun -

I had a really rough day at work yesterday - started it out in tears at a meeting with some other teachers who were being difficult. I actually think this is the first time I've ever cried at work, which I hate.
Oh well, it's over now.

Busy day today, we are having another family over for dinner so need to plan that - plus getting my hair done and a few chores.
