An experiment--non-registered people can now post

Lynn's picture

I'm hoping to make it easier for people to participate here. And so I've opened up comments for non-registered people. They are moderated--I have to approve the comment before it's seen--and you still have to register to start a topic, add a recipe or blog. It's just an experiment, and if it turns out to be too big of a deal it will go away.

Yeah it does make me feel

Yeah it does make me feel better about the approval thing..... more work for you though. I never thought of it like an invitation, makes sense I guess. Thanks for the explanation.

Don't like it.

Ok I have been here for years, I have read just about every article on this site. Although my post count isn't as high as some I feel like this is my home. Goddess that you are, you'd want it straight from the hip.

I feel invaded. I don't really know why. Introduce yourself, look around, post. Give everyone a chance to say "Howdy". But when I read a post from a "guest" I think " Well who the hell are you posting on MY homepage?" I'm actually a bit angry...and I can't explain that either. I feel like a peeping Tom is watching me. And I'm angry. How weird is that? I don't like this feeling. I just thought you'd like to know.

This is your show, do what you want. I'm not gonna take my ball and go home. I love this place. But the new guest feature creeps me out.

Those people have been here from the beginning, reading! They just don't post.

I'm hoping that by dropping the membership requirement (for commenting only--to start a thread or post recipes or anything else, you have to be a member), it'll encourage people to participate and eventually BECOME members.

I'm sorry you're creeped out, Sweetie! That's the last thing I'd want. Does it help to know I'm still hand-approving every single one of them?

That makes me feel like we are some sort of soap opera! LOL! "Hey, lets get on TNH and see if so and so got pregnant/had the baby yet, so and so made up with her husband, what ever happened to so and so..."

Likes sands thru the hourglass, so are the days of our lives!!! LOL!!!!
