I'm no Martha

As I read in this funny article, I'm no Martha either! I have been trying to decorate my home according to trends and magazines too long. I am spending too much money on it and in the end I still don't feel any better. I thought this article said it perfectly:

Has anyone else tried to define themselves through the decorations in their home? How do you avoid this silly trap?

I SO hear you...I'm not all about posessions or stuff...but "defining myself" by external standards is always something I must ward against!

This article is probably closer to my own battle, as I am far from trendy about anything at all (except the darling espadrilles I just bought! Eye-wink ) I could, however, get in way over my head in the "perfectionism" battle. I struggle to appreciate my flaws and to glory in my more-than-occasional mediocrity, especially when it comes to dust bunnies and/or perfectly coordinated serving dishes!

As for avoiding the traps that trendsetters lay out....well "avoiding" is my battle plan. I don't read trendy magazines; I don't watch trendy TV; I don't shop at trendy stores...(much)
