Prayers for Nick, please

Submitted by Anhata on Mon, 04/16/2007 - 9:42pm.

A fine family in our church is facing one of the worst crises I can think of. The father, Nick, has been battling cancer for a while now and has taken a turn for the worse, tonight.

He's been in the hospital for a month and they were hoping to do a bone marrow transplant soon, but the word went out tonight through the prayer chain that his condition is worsening and there's some concern he may not make it through the night.

Nick and his wife and daughter are lovely people. They just joined our church this winter and my heart is breaking for the family tonight.

So, if I may, I would ask for prayers for Nick and his loved ones, or whatever is consistent with your spiritual practices.

I'm praying for a miracle.

Wonderful news...

Submitted by Anhata on Tue, 04/17/2007 - 4:11pm.

Last night Nick's body decided to start making white blood cells again, so he's getting stronger, though still critical.

I talked to our pastor today and he said that when he arrived at the hospital Nick was responsive and in good spirits. He has an indomitable will and refuses to accept anything but a full recovery. His mother-in-law's church community is supporting the family, too.

I ask for you to continue to lift him up, his condition is still delicate. He's been unable to speak for weeks and communicates by writing things down.

Thank you so much for your support. Blessings on Nick and his family and Blessings on you.

The update last Sunday was the he's steadily gaining ground, though the overall condition is still delicate.

Thanks for asking! This is a huge trial for the family.

Prayers, now, of condolences for Nick's family

Submitted by Anhata on Sun, 04/29/2007 - 12:22pm.

I'm terribly sorry to say that Nick passed away last night. I do not know the particulars, only that our pastor was there at the end to offer prayers, annointing, and comfort to Nick and his family.

Thank you for your holding him and his family in your thoughts and prayers, Andrea and Kerri.

In Loving Memory of Nick:

Love is stronger than death.
So I must be content to know that
love is not affected by death--
it doesn't end, it doesn't diminish,
it doesn't change.
Instead, love is immortalized
and eternalized through death.
And the possibility of that love ever
being damaged or broken
is eliminated forever.
I'll put my trust in love.

I read your first reply and didn't see the next one for a minute. How sad. Condolences to his family, and prayers that they get over the worst of their grief in the support of their community.

Kerri.
