![]() Amen, SistahTell the truth and shame the devil, child! That's why you're here! Brilliant! And it's not just America, Brit films and TV seem to be obsessed with having small bottoms and thighs. Coupling and Love Actually come to mind, oh, and Bridget Jones' Diary (the movie). Bravo, indeed. Anhata AbsolutelyI wasn't meaning to have a dig at American culture in particular - things are just the same over here. Most of my friends are completely obsessed, including the slim ones. Atually, I think the slim ones are more obsessed. They are certainly the ones going on about their fat stomachs all the time. One of these friends is a size 8 (a US 6). Goodness knows what she thinks of MY stomach! What I got from the video though, was the confidence of Joy Nash! I would like to be smaller and am working on that a little, but in the meantime I am going to stop feeling apologetic for myself and start living it large! about b%^&*dy time!there's a difference between trying to make a difference to your weight because you'd rather be slimmer, and obsessing about losing weight. Diet used to just mean "what you eat" - now it seems to mean "what you can't eat". I'm lucky that I'm about the same moderate size now that I was before having kids, but I've been up and I've been down, thanks to illness and steroids. I've had to learn to accept being whatever size I was, even if to me it didn't look normal for me. And DH was always great at finding things to be happy with, whether I was above or below my regular weight! Kerri. ps. not looking at the vid because it's late now, but that woman does not look big at all - I see so many massive women here in the UK nowadays. Honey, you're starting to look like a stick insect compared to most, whatever your feelings about your weight/shape/size. Part of your problem is also your height which makes you self-conscious as well. You'd look very silly next to DS if you were small! LOVE IT!Ok, so I'm married to a man who has tall skinny parents... and grand-parents... probably great-grand-parents too. He cannot fathom why I used to be a size 7, and can't go back there again. I come from larger stock. Age 0-13: Skinny as a rail. Age 15 (When we met): Size 14 Age 16 (when he broke up with me): Was so upset I couldn't hold food down for 3 days and then next thing I know, I'm a size 7. Age 19 (when we married): Size 14, instead of losing weight, I was so stressed out that I ended up GAINING weight and had to enlarge my wedding dress! Age 21: Size 10 suddenly. I wasn't trying, I just started losing weight. Age 25 (now): I'm a size 16. I'm 188# as of last month. I have other things to worry about than if I can fit into a fanny-flashing mini-skirt and be "attractive" enough for men to lust after me. Yes, I do want to lose some weight, but not because my DH thinks so, but because I was more comfy at 145#. I think we should "lust" after the important things... BRAINS. Guess what, we're all going to get saggy-wrinkly-grey. Why base a person's worth on something that doesn't last very long? Besides, could you imagine the money we'd all save on plastic surgery?!?! We could support an entire small country by the money that Americans spend on PS, and dieting tools! Forget what society thinks you should be... they don't have to live your life 24/7. Do what works for you. Besides, Marilyn Monroe was a size 14. ![]() And my FAVORITE...Comment in Glamour Magazine was made by Meryl Streep when commenting on her 14th Oscar nomination. She mentioned that her "numbers" match now, as she is a size 14 and has 14 Oscar nominations. She's one of my favorites!! Post new comment |
