The triumphant return of Rosie the Quilter

After an extended hiatus, I've made a triumphant return to the world of manic quilting. Here's what I've been working on:
An homage to St. Therese de Lisieux, in gratitude for novenas heard and answered.
Gandalf, my wabbit-hunting beast of the moors, inspects Spring Tonic. I've decided to display it on the wall, instead of on my bed, just to be on the safe side.

very nice!
I like both of those. How fast? St Therese is one of my favorite saints.

How do you machine quilt
How do you machine quilt like that? Special tools that you use? Would really love to know! I have been unsuccessful when it comes to machine quilting. It never looks as nice as by hand, but hand takes so loooong! Your's looks great, I love the stiple quilting look! Share, please, if you don't mind divulging your secrets.
Fast when I was actually working
I made the St Therese top last year, but didn't quilt it until last month. I had cut the central squares and yellow strips of Spring Tonic last year, but didn't get back to it until this week.
I had stopped quilting for a number of reasons - started homeschooling, husband's deteriorating health, couldn't look at fabric without thinking about our lost friend. Now I can't stop quilting. I suppose there are more dangerous vices
Machine quilting
I use a free motion/darning foot with the feed dogs dropped. It takes a bit of practice but it's fun.
Gotta be careful, though. I broke 3 needles and gave myself a nice gouge through the top of my thumb working on Spring Tonic. Note to self: check immunization records for last tetanus shot ...
