Rosetta Stone? Does anyone have it?
Has anyone bought the Rosetta Stone software that is supposed to help you learn a new language. I was considering buying the Latin American Spanish version but wanted to hear from others who had it before I spent the money. It is kind of pricey? Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!

funny you should mention!
We played with the demo online and were really impressed. We got the demo CD just today in the mail and I'm letting the girls fool with it until they decide what language they want to study and then we'll probably get it. I've been having fun fooling around with it myself.

Get the demo
The demo really gives you a chance to see whether you will like it -- it's not just a digital tour. You get actual lessons in all the languages. Which, as Lynn says, is pretty fun in itself. My daughter loved just playing with the demo and trying different languages.
We are doing Chinese (in pinyin rather than ideograms, which I kind of regret, but oh well). It *is* expensive, but at least at our slow pace it also lasts a really long time -- I think we'll get at least 2 years out of it even if only one child uses it. I think it is a great program, and I especially love that it basically asks nothing of me!
My daughter can do her Chinese lessons totally on her own, which makes a great break for me to do something else.
Our library system has Rosetta Stone spanish on their computers, so you can go do it at the library for free! Worth looking into!

Don't buy Rosetta Stone
I work for the company and unfortunately think the product is over-priced, over valued and ineffective compared to other competitive products out there.
It's good, don't misunderstand, but you'll acheive better results for half the money using something else
