Here's a shiny new thread for us!

Doing ok today - so far I've had Diet Coke a cheesestick, a nonfat yogurt, and a bag of the dreaded wheat thins. I am going to go walk and then later have my lunch which is ham salad with Sun Chips. I really need to get some fruit or veggies in there. maybe I should buy a salad. Hmmmm.

See ya!

dried fruit?

Submitted by Kerri on Thu, 03/29/2007 - 7:54am.

I can't have too much in any one day but I LOVE those partially rehydrated apricots. They are completely unlike the old dried out ones you used to get from healthfood shops. I know you said you like crunchy things but thought this might help any sweet tooth. Rice crackers are probably the thing for crunch, and my DD still loves them, but I'm not wild about them. The ones with seaweed at least have a bit more taste and nutritional value but... Sticking out tongue

there are loads of other dried fruits available these days too of course - blueberries, cranberries, tropical fruits... just check that they don't have added colours, sugars, other nasties which would defeat the object a bit.

Hey! Why does it say this thread has been moved? Where is it now? I have to access it through the active discussions list. BTW, Andrea, did you see my last post to the old thread? Didn't know if you had looked at it.

Hey Everyone - LeeAnne, I

Submitted by Andrea on Fri, 03/30/2007 - 5:00pm.

Hey Everyone -
LeeAnne, I just read your post - thanks! I do't know how we got lost but I think we are found now.

I'm doing ok - haven't weighed in lately. I have been walking so that is good. Thanks for all the "crunchy " tips. I have tried cornnuts lately, I know those aren't the greatest. I had some really good homemade granola in yogurt this at a breakfast at work - it was great.

Anyway, I must run - I hope to get out and walk this weekend -

Back at it!

Submitted by lgunnoe on Fri, 04/06/2007 - 7:05am.

Hello, all! I'm sitting in my cozy recliner watching the snow fall through the glass doors to the deck...if this were January/February instead of Easter weekend in April, it would be lovely! Laughing out loud I wonder why snow feels so much colder in the Spring? It's really not even that unusual...we always have snow in April and sometimes into early May...but every year when we get the warm weather (it was 80 degrees on Tuesday) it "hurts" to go back!

I'm getting ready to plan Easter dinner. It will just be the 4 of us, though so I'm not going overboard. I'm using my Cooking Light magazine and their web-site and AllRecipes to find lower fat/sugar choices.

The DDs and I are on Spring Break for the next week. We have a bit of cleaning to do and I have a new Pilates DVD that I'd like some good practice time with. It's a "basics for beginners" but I know my learning-curve is a bit long. I'm hoping to get a good feeling for the position/moves this coming week, so I can then use it in the mornings before school.

I must get up and get going, though....I've been a complete LUMP this morning!

Be well, friends!
Love to all,
Lenora

our Easter dinner

Submitted by Kerri on Sat, 04/07/2007 - 1:19pm.

will actually be quite healthy - baked salmon for six with asparagus and potato salad. More of a Spring dish than a traditional Easter roast. I must be crazy, because every time my parents come for dinner I seem to choose something weird to cook - Christmas dinner was a massive lump of ribeye that took up my whole oven. Mum's birthday was a duck and that also took up the oven. I guess maybe I fear direct competition with my mother, knowing that my roast chicken or roast pork won't be as good, and that invites my father's least polite comments. He seems to have this thing in his head that my cooking is a joke. Funny really because the only people who seem to believe him are himself and his mother, and even she's having doubts now I've baked a cake that she managed to eat without dying. His comments aresometimes so mean that even my kids ask why Granddad is always so horrible to me. From his point of view he's only being funny, but I get a sore jaw from having to grit my teeth around his humour sometimes.

oh dear, off topic as ever. Just thought I'd offer up my relatively healthy Easter meal. We're away for a few days after Easter, which we all need badly for our sanity. Lots of lovely countryside walking and fresh air for everyone.

I have so many eating sins but am so lucky with my weight that I don't often feel I have much to offer here.

That sounds great Kerri!

That sounds great Kerri! What a great Easter dinner!

We are going out for an Easter brunch buffet at a nice place. DH is making a traditional roast chicken dinner tonite with mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, and a mixed green salad.

Still hovering around 151 with my weight. Not exercising as much as I'd like with the cold temps. I had a protein shake today for the first time in a long time and was SO full. I will have to remember that for the future.

My contributions...

Submitted by lgunnoe on Sat, 04/07/2007 - 4:14pm.

for Easter dinner are fresh strawberry pie, banana pudding, mixed green/yellow beans with pine nuts and lemon, and glazed baby carrots. We're going to my sister's for dinner after church.

My hope for tomorrow is to just eat reasonable portions. We will have breakfast at church after sunrise service and I'll probably just eat fruit. The men usually serve french toast, sausage, and fruit...I don't eat breakfast sausage at all and the french toast will likely be lukewarm and on the soggy side which I also find completely resistable! Dinner, however will be a challenge! On the bright side, I won't be dealing with tons of left-overs once we get home!

I've got to wrap up my pre-Easter chores now!

Blessings!

Working out the kinks!

Submitted by lgunnoe on Fri, 04/13/2007 - 5:51pm.

Well, I've managed time on the treadmill 4 days this week, and strength training (moderate) twice, so that's feeling pretty good. I hope I can keep it up once we go back to school next week. Theoretically, if I get up with DD16.5, I should have plenty of time for a walk and some strength training in the mornings before DD12 gets on the bus, then I still have time to shower and get myself ready after that...realisticaly, I often crawl back in bed. Sad Lazy me.

It's taken me all week to work off my Easter excess/ovulation water weight but I think I'm managing.

I was at the mall with my sister, my niece and DD16.5 today I am looking for a great spring dress for an "event" that DH and I will be attending in two weeks. I'd like something a bit sexy...but 40-year-old-sexy, not 40-year-old-trying-to-look-20...kwim? Tough to find, especialy considering my height/weight/bust size (too short/too much/not enough Eye-wink ) Dresses just never look right.

I hope you all are out there makng great progress on your New You goals. I can't claim great progress but I'm making progress none-the-less!

Love to all!
Lenora

skirt suit?

Submitted by Kerri on Tue, 04/17/2007 - 2:48pm.

sometimes separates can look better if you're not the perfect hourglass, and who is. Even trouser suit I suppose, but might not be very sesaonal unless you can find light colours and a bright top.

I walk to school and back, I wander round a massive warehouse and once a month or so I unload a huge shipping container. Who has time for exercise!

Very cool Lenora! When I consider all the things you've achieved since I've "known" you, I have no doubt you can keep this up too!
