Summer break is almost around the corner and -like every year- I am trying to figure out what to do with my kids for lunch. Last year's plan went down the drain because it didn't work
Here is my new and improved plan:
All meals will consist of one of the three:
1) Starch: mashed potatoes/gravy, rice/gravy, pasta (other ideas?)
2) Veggie: corn, pies, broccoli etc, or spaghetti sauce (other ideas?)
3) Meat: chicken patties, meat balls, mini meat loaves, fish sticks, browned ground beef (other ideas?)
I wanted to freeze the starch and veggie groups in ice cube trays and put the cubes in freezer bags. The meat will also be frozen individually. Then I let the kids choose one of each group and pop a few ice cubes in the microwave. Ready is lunch without complains because each kid gets to say what she wants, it will take only a few minutes to heat up, and having their friends for lunch won't be a problem, either. Has anybody tried this before? Is there anything that won't freeze or reheat well? Any comments why this plan may be doomed from the start?

) hot dogs, at first with buns then on regular white bread. There is one thing that I have learned this summer, though: I am lucky to have girls. If we had boys instead, I'd have to go back to work to be able to keep them fed. Just where exactly do those little boys put all that food?!
