Well HOOAH strikes again. Gotta love it.....My husband who was supposed to be home in my arms loving me on thursday is now going to be home sometime between Friday and Tuesday. Kinda like a weather forcast. Friday its possible but not bloody likely, with saturday showing begining signs of maybe, sunday its looking 50/50ish, monday is probable beccause I really need to be in court with my sister that day , and tuesday if we havent seen any Daniel out of the sky comming in from the gulf coast he will for sure blow in! Mind you now that I will only have an hour or so notice of when he will be in so looking my very "I missed you...real bad" , is not going to be easy, the house that I just super mega cleaned for my neat freak turbo cleaning husband....I just dont know how well its going to hold out against the demolition five, magic eightball says not favorable! I got my nails done today for the first time in a year. will the polish hold against days of dishes, diapers and rescued items in the garbage disposal? I dont need to consult my tarot deck for that one! I have put soooo much into his homecoming now to have it smashed into oblvion! how will I know when to thaw the chicken for his favorite meal. He has eaten mre's for more than a month. The kids were pumped to see dad. I assured them it still will be soon but that doesnt help sooth them. Kids like to know what to expect too. they used thier allowance to buy new sidewalk chalks to make him a welcome home sidewalk! My arms would just like to know when they can hold him again! I wanted to have fresh sheets on the bed! I mean just washed fresh. I know maybe it seems petty but its horrible. The wind is out of my sails. I feel baaaaad. I found a cheep version of a denim jumper outfit in this months cosmo magazine at an unbeliveable 20 bucks on sale a perfect match in my size fits me like a dream and some cute wedges that have wispy brown ankle lace up things for a mere 9.99! I always look so frumpy Im all set to blow him away and now im left holding my breath. Im just going to stay up all night long crying over HGTV if I dont get my mind around this soon.

side note

i know he will be happy to see me if i was wearing a black glad trash bag with my hair in uninentional dreadlocks and the house was upside down on the foundation but its not the point for me. I wanted to show him how much having him home means to all of us and how much we appreciate him.

How Frustrating

Have you worked out a plan for that hour's notice - job for every kid so that you can blitz whatever's top of your list? That way at least you won't run around like a headless chicken and find you've done the least important things instead of making yourself feel wonderful.

Fingers crossed for an early return

oh, what a dissapointment!

Definitely time for a chick flick and some comfort food! Be gentle with yourself, this sounds like a bit of a shock.

I was thinking of you today, Jenn. "If" my DH hadn't shattered his elbow in a motorcycle accident when he was 17 he would have joined the Air Force after high school and I'd have been an USAF wife, probably coping with the same kind of things you are. I'd like to think I'd be coping with as much stamina and grace as you do.

My grandfather was in the Army Air Corps then in the Air Force when it was spun off from the Army after WWII and mom grew up on miliary bases all over the US and the world. My middle brother was in the Navy for 10 years and was away for as much of his marriage as he was home until he got out.

So I really, really get what you're saying. Best laid plans and all that...we want to be the best for our families at special times, like a homecoming--to show them how much we missed them and how glad we are that they're home. Trust me, he'll know, even if the floor isn't spotless and the chicken isn't thawed. He'll know.

I took a peek at your album, you have a lovely family. I hope you have him home again asap.

thanks

thanks guys...btw I cheated and bribed some little girls in the neighborhood at a mere 3 bucks each including my own two girls to do some maintinence for me yesterday. A blitz plan is a great idea provided he doesnt come home at some wierd hour of the night/morning. We talked though and he told me he loved my cooking but he was really really in the mood for some waffle house too and could we go out to eat there sometime shortly after he gets back, so I just said why dont we go right when you get back then and he seemed VERY happy with that. Im sure hes shaking his head that I was all for it beccause he tread very carefully not to offend me. Little does he know its really more of rescuing me and it takes the pressure off. I can cook him his fav chicken dish the next night when there is no pressure and we can just enjoy each other.I dont like waffle house but he loves it. He is wierd like that and Im not so picky I cant live with it every once and again. I am going to make a big push today towards perfection and hopefully it will be easy to apply a blitz fix to it. I also considered if at least my bedroom looks nice I can just wisk him off there in such a hurry maybe he wont even notice we have a house. I mean it has been weeks!lol

his return

he returns sunday morning at 4 am! Im seriously thinking and rethinking this whole looking good think. 4am is a little early to look good, but hey at least I can pick up around the house saturday night and the kids wont be awake to mess it up! since waffle house is all thats open and I cant cook cicken dinner at 4 am I get that guilt free too! I cant wait to hold him. just a little over 24 hours to go!

I Agree

I was going to comment the other day that if he has been gone for a while he is definitely not going to care if you are wearing a black trash bag, he's totally going to care about whether or not you are wearing something under that trash bag! Smiling

Smart move on the cheap labor. I have a few neighbor girls who will come play with my littlest while I get thing done.

You are an inspiring gal, good luck!

it gets a bit easier

DH does that quite a bit, when he can't come home when he planned because of x, y, z crisis. I'm fairly used to it, but I hate having to break it to the kids, especially if it happens more than once on the same trip.

it's not the same reasons I know, but you gotta "fake it till you make it". Grit those teeth and reserve the smile for him and the venting for us. It WILL get easier... not easy, often frustrating but you do get better at going with the flow.

Kerri.
