Hamsters, Hamsters Everywhere

Homeschooling was a bit difficult today, as my pupils were less than willing. But they certainly are getting sex education, what with all the hamster breeding. Anna Kate (7) asked me how they breed. I limited it to the description of fertilization! Smiling

Mama Merry had seven babies, little wiggling, pink, eyeless things. But somehow, very cute at the same time. These are Russian Dwarf hamsters, so they are small even in adulthood. As I recall with Siberian hamsters, the babies are adorable once fully furred. They are so tiny!

Papa Pippin had to be removed, as males tend to cannabalize, and Mama Merry isn't too tolerant of him right now anyway. We don't have an extra tank, so he's in one of my empty plastic storage containers right now.

I posted a picture of the babies, although it's not terribly clear. Also a picture of me with *my* baby. Two nursing mothers in the house right now. Smiling

Lynn's Potato Latke's are delicious, by the way. We had them at supper tonight. Give 'em a try!
