Spring Ahead!

Tempus Foots It: Congress in its infinite wisdom has started daylight savings in the U.S. two weeks early. This annoys me to no end. I like the sun directly overhead at noon and I dislike people forcing me to fiddle with clocks. Extra hour of sunlight, blah blah blah--get up an hour earlier if it's so important. feh, harrumph.

In less humbuggy spring news, note the spring slipcover is back! Although the "Winter" logo won't go away until the spring equinox next week.

I for one LOVE it! The kids

I for one LOVE it! The kids have an extra hour to play outside when they get home from school! That's the best thing, instead of it getting dark not long after. I just love Daylight savings (it seems I'm the only one! LOL!).

Battery check!!!!

Has everyone put fresh batteries in their smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors?

That horrible fire in the Bronx, in which 9 kids and a mom died - they had smoke detectors but no batteries. That's beyond tragic.

it started bleeping the other night and drove me crazy because I couldn't figure out what it was, and nobody else heard it - how scary is that!

we don't have the daylight saving yet - there's surely only a week normally. I shall be glad when we do change the clocks because I've been waking up early for the last two weeks, yet here I am at nearly midnight still awake, and I'm turning into a zombie. It's a bit artificial I know, but since the rest of our lives is also geared round artificial measurements of time it makes sense to me to get more light in the evening rather than get woken up by it. If I lived my life by the sun I probably wouldn't be so keen, but I live it by the school bell.

Kerri.
