The last year...

Well, although I've stopped by occasionally, I've got a myspace blog that I update semi-regularly. Since my first (and only) blog here, there's been a TON of changes.

1: I got a job!!! I'm doing home health. Although it doesn't bring in the extra income we were used to, it is wonderful! I take care of a person Mon-Fri, 9-5. They're wonderful and their family is too. I have had offers to apply to my old company, but as I still think they are evil, I don't think so. In fact, though I earn less than I did there, I'm saving so much in personal medical bills from less stress, I think I'm actually "earning" more in the long run.

2: We had a new addition to the family. No, not a baby... at least not a human one. We adopted a Bearded Dragon lizard. He's definitely baby enough for us.

3: I've been mistakenly thought of as Domesticated by my mother, and a few friends. HA! However, I am quite pleased by that, since it shows that I'm learning. I just wish that my hubby can do some math: if he wants dinner at 6, and I get home at 6, and he gets home between 4:30 and 5:30 (depending on traffic and errands), then maybe he should cook during the week. However, I've been getting many compliments on my crock-pot meals. (Shhh... they come in a bag!) Hey, even at $6-8 a bag, they provide enough for the 2 of us to eat it for 3 dinners. So, that's about $1 a serving. Add a side salad, a couple of rolls (Pillsbury's Soft Rolls, takes 10 min), and he's happy. That's one secret I hope he NEVER finds out...

Which reminds me of a story about my mom. Papa was so proud of her making bread for dinner. It was so good to come home and smell fresh baked bread. Then one day, he turned on the oven to preheat it, and we discovered Momma's secret. They were frozen loaves! You pull out one, put it in the oven to defrost and rise, and then you bake it. When Papa preheated the oven, it burnt the loaf!

Thank goodness hubby doesn't usually help I guess... I could call and ask him to preheat the oven at 5:45 and he'd forget to do it until he heard my car come into the driveway.
