Rosy Tea Cosy

This is the tea cosy I made with Lynn's Super Simple Tea Cosy Pattern Generator. I used Lamb's Pride Nature Spun wool from the Brown Sheep Company. I used simple fair isle ticking for the checker bands and the bottom border and [the rose fair isle pattern from Jessica Tromp's Norwegian Fair Isle website] for the middle band. Working with two strands makes the tea cosy super effecient at holding in heat. This keeps my tea warm for about three hours, seriously.

My teapot is smaller than Lynns, so the cosy looks a little different. Mine holds about six cups of tea, max.

I knew I wanted that dark red color, I love that color and my kitchen linens are green with dark red apples, so it all ties together.

When I'd finished the squares and before I'd sewn them together I showed them to DD6 who said, "Mom, this is your best work." I think she's kinda right, this is the best fair isle I've done yet.

I'm so in love with this tea cosy it's pitiful. I made myself a pot of tea at 11:30 am today, took DD to her dance class an hour later, and when we came back from dance class (another hour later), the remaining tea was still hot! I'm in heaven and have been drinking two pots of tea a day all week. I seem to be eshewing coffee altogether now!

I was staring contemplatively at my teacup today, wondering how to knit a matching cosy...

I've never done colorwork like that -- it looks terrific! I'd be in love with it too!

And I'm impressed by its thermal retention abilities!

Tea cosy here too! I'm

Tea cosy here too! I'm knitting one in tweed DK, dark grey and light grey (in the same yarn that I knitted Lynn's square, which started the whole knitting thing off for me Smiling) But it's intarsia with the threads pulled tight so you get a ridge effect. Does that make sense? Also meant to be very good thermal retention. It's a present for my best friend who is visiting next weekend. Better get a move on! Hope mine turns out half as well as yours, Anhata.
