Anyone else beading/jewelrymaking? I just got some stuff before Christmas including a book and a magazine. I am hoping to take a basic class that Michael's offers on 1/13. Any thoughts, ideas?

Made my first necklace today. Very amateurish, but I'll get better. Need to go call about that class on the 13th.

Anyone else beading?

Beading is extremely addictive. I haven't been able to bead in forever--with little kids it was hard and I seem to have moved on somewhat--but I still get swoony over the Fire Mountain catalog when it comes.

No kidding on the addiction! I am going back today to get some more beads. We have a craft morning scheduled at our church tomorrow & I want some cool beads to make a necklace & matching bracelet. My boss wants me to find some beads and make a bracelet someone gave her bigger so it will fit.

Hi, my name is Vonnie and I'm a bead-aholic!

is a total bead-nut. She is always beading when I come in and wants to show me what she's making. It's so tiny!

I am all about the yarn and the scrapbooking -- that's all the crafting I can handle.

That's Funny

Because I was thinking Thursday when I was doing my third necklace ever that beading was like therapy to me! It is relaxing in a way I hadn't expected. I've never been "the creative one" in my family -- my Mom and my SIL are so much more so. I think it intimidated me a little to do anything that they had already done because I wouldn't measure up. Beading is something they haven't done & my Mom has no desire to try. My SIL plans to come to the Michael's class next week, but I'm not sure how much interest she really has in it. So, beading is sort of "my thing". I like having a thing!

So, I've got to run over to New You and Flybabies if time and post before I leave to go to Craft Morning at 9:30. I'm taking my beads, of course.

Toodles,
Vonnie

I would love to get into this hobby. A girl I work with makes the most gorgeous necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. It would be great to be able to make fun accessories for myself and also for family and friends. She actually just started an online website to sell some of the items. I recently went to one of the bead and stone stores where you can make your own jewelry and made a necklace. It was so much fun and a great way to spend an afternoon. I hope you're enjoying the necklaces that you have made!
