I think I might like it better if it were flip-flopped. Forums on the right and ads etc. on the left. Something about having the forums on the left feels awkward to me.
ads have to be to the left?
Then why are they on the right? On my screen, it goes from left to right: forums/ articles, then ads, then the menu for clicking on threads, recent posts, etc. So the ads are on the right with the menu. I was suggesting that it would feel less awkward if it went: ads, menu, forums/ articles. As it is, I'm typing and looking way over to the left at these forums. My eyes "naturally" want to drift to the right on webpages, and I keep having to drag them to the left this way in order to read the content.

I'd like a little more feedback and then I'll try it flipped. Sorry, I completely misunderstood what you were asking me.

a bit weird
I am finding it a little strange, like Becky my eyes want to go the other way! I never like change, however - everytime you change anything I tend to prefer the old way - but only until I get to used to the new way
If you listened to me you'd have to keep everything the same forever, so feel free to ignore me

Hmm, I think I agree with Becky. It might be a little easier for me to navigate if the editorial content were on the right.
But then again, maybe I'm just not used to it yet.
I Kinda Like It
Of course, I am always one for change for change sake. But I felt like I could see the editorial content better on the front page. On the forum pages it does look a little different.

Per my ad contract ads have to be to the left.

clarification
They have to be the leftmost non-editorial column. So not taking into account the lefthand editorial column, they're on the left. The other alternatives are split as they were, with ads on the left, or both columns to the left with ads to the left.

I didn't know the right terms. Yeah, I was thinking editorial column to the right, ads to the left.
