Happy Holidays

Tonight we celebrate Solstice. We're going to church--digging on the Unitarians holding a Solstice night service--opening presents and having a nice big dinner.

I have presents to wrap and an absolutely monstrously huge pork roast to get in the oven ASAP, and I'm sitting here eating pfeffernuse and staring vapidly into the middle distance. Cardiac rehab is kicking my hinder.

I can't believe it's HERE.

Cute photo! I still can't believe it's Christmas already! It's the first year that we're not traveling the long distance to grandmas (since the distance got longer when we moved!). We're doing a ham, not as monstrously big, as your pork roast, I'm sure!!! But this evening, I've been busy making desserts (our neighbor is having a dessert potluck party). So far, I've made caramel filled brownies, peanut brittle, mints, and a pot of corn chowder (but that's for us to munch on in "hurried" moments!) It feels good to be the one in charge of my family's festivities this year, we can really focus on what we choose to.

I hope that you feel good for the holidays, even if it has to be only a short reprieve!

Love the picture Lynn. What a great Santa!

Jillian, we have been home for the holidays for years with the kids and I love it - so much more relaxed.

Lynn, enjoy the holidays with your girls and JJ- best wishes for health and happiness to you!

And peppernuts! I make some every year to send out to my relatives. A very traditional Christmas cookie in my family. I have to say, if it wasn't, I'd never make them! They take an age! Eye-wink

Anyway, at this point we're mostly over being sick (enough that we're not contagious, anyway), the Christmas cookies have all been sent, the presents are bought (but not wrapped), and I have to go do the Christmas dinner grocery shopping today. My in-laws are in town, which is nice. In some ways their visits are actually less stressful than my parents'.

Hope everyone has happy holidays (and gets to relax and enjoy!) Smiling
