My Menu

Submitted by lgunnoe on Thu, 12/21/2006 - 6:38pm.

Spinach salad with berries and pecans
Beef Tenderloin (stuffed with sun dried tomatoes and pine nuts)
Roasted new potatoes
Rice Pilaf (DD11.5 and I don't eat 'tatoes)
Green and yellow beans with baby carrots
Rolls
Spiced Peaches (family tradition)
Relish and cut veggie tray

Apple Pie
Cheesecake
Assorted cookies

I'm still contemplating an appetizer/soup. I'd start with shrimp cocktail but my parnets don't eat shellfish...Onion soup au gratin would be tasty...

Fish Chowder

Followed by a famous family cake. Invented by DH, aged 3, it involves a chocolate cake, black cherry jam (jelly) and rice pudding. I've never experienced this wonder, but it fits beautifully into the 70s Christmas theme!

Shaun, I made your triple berry cranberry sauce - it's great, thanks for sharing the recipe.

Our Christmas Eve is pretty low key...
Shrimp Cocktail
Meatballs
Hummus with Pita Chips
Veggie Tray
Cookies

We eat around the tree and open our one gift each.

I'm still mulling over Christmas Dinner! Ham, pork roast, my Dad wants steaks on the grill!! Lenora, where can I find your beef recipe - sounds good -

Thanks Lenora! I love allrecipes - just added it to my box there. I ended up going with ham for Xmas Day, so that may be New Year's Eve dinner.

So, after shopping today, it looks like Xmas Dinner will be:

appetizer? maybe pumpernickel bread with cherry paste and shaved parm.
spiral sliced ham
potato gratin with goat cheese
spinach and belgian endive salad
sauteed green beans and carrots
crescent rolls (yes, Pillsbury)
dessert???? not sure yet, need to take it easy with the sugar.

Not me!

We are ordering Chinese takeout to be delivered. DS wants to have chocolate fondue afterwards, but I really don't think we will have room. Maybe chocolate fondue for tomorrow's breakfast! Smiling

Well, since this has been resurrected...LOL!

I usually make lasagna (2 of them, actually), pretzel salad, bread, salad, and twice baked potatoes. Apple pie and other Christmas goodies for dessert.

For Christmas Day, I fix sausage balls, monkey bread, and juice if it's at my house. If it's at inlaws, we have steak and eggs (scrambled and fried), biscuits, sometimes buttermilk waffels w/ pecans. Dinner is turkey, stuffing, mashed taters, homemade buns, etc.
