renovating washable nappies (diapers)

After nearly two years of good service, DD's nappies are starting to 'go'. I always fold them in the same way, and they're getting really thin, and sometimes frayed, in the top layer of cotton which has seen all the action. They're Bambino Mio, the flat type with lots of layers all sewn together.

This is not a big problem for her, as she basically only has nappies for her afternoon nap and at night-time. However, if there was ever to be another bottom which needed nappies, I'd quite like to use them again.

Has anyone tried taking them apart and 'turning' them as you might with a shirt collar? Or done anything else to renovate them once they start to fray on the top layer?
