Ugh, I'm sick too

Submitted by songbh on Mon, 10/02/2006 - 11:37am.

For the first time in a long time. And it's no fun!

I can't think coherently enough for a TADA today. But my PODA includes:

Clean up kitchen
Unpack from weekend trip
Do 1 load laundry, start to finish
Go to post office
Pick up DS at daycare
Heat leftovers for dinner
Evening routine

I'm going to start a separate thread just for routines -- that's really where I need to work, and I'm hoping anyone else whose routines aren't exactly rock-solid habits yet will join me there.

I was gone nearly all day

Submitted by jennye on Tue, 10/03/2006 - 6:53am.

I was gone nearly all day yesterday. Left the house at 10, met DH in c-town at Chili's for lunch (I had sirloin steak and garlic/lime shrimp with mushrooms and loaded mashed taters, plus a bowl of chips). Got some stuff I needed at Lowe's, Drews pictures made at Sears (that are SO GOOD they absolutely melt your heart!), Bath and Body works, Dillards for something for the girls, Hancock Fabrics for material to make 2 poodle skirts for the girls for school tomorrow. Raced home, grabbed soccer gear, made it to school in time to pick them up and take them to soccer practice. McDs for dinner (since DH was out playing basketball with the fire dept. in town), home at 7:30 so the kids could wrap up homework.

I didn't get everything done I needed to do in town, but not sure if I want to make another trip today or tomorrow, or if I can wait til soccer practice on Thursday.

Today my laundry is overflowing. I need to put my new battery on the riding mower and cut the grass, then maybe fertilize the yard for fall. Make poodle skirts. clean up the kitchen.

So much to do, so little time. you can see Drew's pictures on my blog:

Wow, Jennye, what a busy day

Submitted by songbh on Tue, 10/03/2006 - 12:14pm.

Wow, Jennye, what a busy day you had yesterday! And all those errands with a baby in tow! I am impressed.

I saw the pics on your blog; my heart is in fact melted into a warm little puddle. You have some awfully, awfully gorgeous children!

I never got any laundry done yesterday, partly b/c I feel like crud, and partly b/c the 17yo had the machines busy with his own laundry. And then he went off to school with clothes in both washer and dryer. I could reboot and get a load in if I really wanted to, I guess. No whining, right? (smiles)

Song, I would probably just

Submitted by jennye on Wed, 10/04/2006 - 10:16am.

Song, I would probably just throw his laundry into baskets, take care of yours, and let him deal with his. Get him his own baskets if you need to.

I didn't get as much laundry done yesterday as I had hoped. DH was home part of the day, and since it is so seldom anymore we get to see him, he and the baby and I just hung out and did nothing. I did have to help him move the tractor back to the house from the field so he could service it and hook up the baler.

I did get both the girls' poodle skirts made last night. They looked cute this morning. I didn't do that good of a job as I would have if I had the time. Drew doesn't like me to do much without him, so I made do with some sloppiness. However, the tooth fairy forgot to make a stop here last night (probably because she was too busy with a Margarita at the end of the day. LOL!).

This morning I made two batches of brownies for the 4th grade bake sale tomorrow that I will probably go run as well. They are cooling now, I will cut and bag them later. Am making pie crust for an apple pie for tonight. DH has Lion's club and on those nights, a friend comes over with her two little ones. Should be a nice treat for them (she doesn't do homemade stuff often).

And hopefully this afternoon I will have time to change the battery on the mower and mow, so that I can get the yard fertilized and watered. Isn't it always something!

Got the DW loaded and the Roomba vaccuuming the LR, and I'm about to head out to choir with the girls. I am sooooo off the wagon, and it shows! Homeschool+summer=all routine out the window! We need to get back on track, but I think first we have to find a new track.

Hope you sickos feel better!

Submitted by Andrea on Wed, 10/04/2006 - 3:01pm.

Hey Everyone!

Jenny, yes, Drew's pictures are adorable. He looks SO much like Jeff and Chance that it is eerie. I forgot to say I'm sorry about your dog - so sad to lose a pet!

Hope you are feeling yourself soon Heidi!

HI Shaun and Song and Becky!

Well, I'm pretty wiped. DH is having sleep issues which are affecting me unfortunately. Book club here tomorrow which is a bit of added stress. I'm making homemade hummus, but couldn't find tahini tonite - $%&*! I may cave and buy the hummus from the deli but that seems like cheating! Keeping up with routines but that's about it -

See ya!

Good morning all! I'm

Submitted by songbh on Thu, 10/05/2006 - 5:41am.

Good morning all! I'm almost back to normal health-wise -- that was one nasty cold virus!

Jennye, glad to hear you had some time with your DH -- people before things, right? WTG on making poodle skirts etc. with an active baby to keep happy! I'm so impressed.

Heidi, hope you are feeling better by now! Andrea, hope the book club is fun. I always feel better about my house after I have people over -- it's that old crisis-cleaning stash-and-dash too often, but it gives me a boost just the same. Shaun, good luck finding that new track! If you want to focus on your routines, come over to the routines thread with me and "new" Jen!

TADA:

Most of my morning routine (see the routines thread if you want details, LOL)

Good morning! TGIF!!

Submitted by jennye on Thu, 10/05/2006 - 7:17am.

Good morning! TGIF!! (hehehe, for us it is! I'm SO liking 4 day school week!!)

I found a plain white T-shirt for DS4 to wear on 50's day. I rolled a block in the sleeve for a pack of cigarettes. LOL! Also rolled up his jeans like Becky suggested. Couldn't slick his hair though. It's hard as short as I cut it. Still, he was cute. The girls were both cute in their poodle skirts.

I had to do much running around yesterday helping DH move the tractor, baler, and hay rakes to one of the fields (it's 12 miles away from the house). I also got the battery swapped out and mowed the grass (I'll try to fertilize tomorrow with the girls home to babysit for a few minutes). Today will be another day without seeing him. He left at 5 to go get diesel, rake hay, and see if anything won't bale. He has EMT class tonight and won't be in til about 11. I need to run the bake sale at the school during lunch today, soccer practice and grocery store tonight. whoohoo. LOL! But then ER is on!

Tomorrow is more soccer practice, followed by homecoming hay ride and bonfire. Saturday is 2 soccer games (we will miss the homecoming game thanks to the soccer games).

Time to do some laundry, make the bed (even though I didn't get to sleep in it. Drew was too fussy and I didn't want him to bother DH, so we took the sofa). Unload DW. Too bad there is no time for a nap in the next few years. LOL!

Becky's picture

yes, but at least you have a dishwasher!

Submitted by Becky on Thu, 10/05/2006 - 1:58pm.

So I'm jealous of you on that front!

School has been insane and I've been exhausted this week. It's mid-term time. After Wednesday things should calm down a little more. Meanwhile I'm just checking in.

Another non-flying day for

Submitted by jennye on Sat, 10/07/2006 - 6:18am.

Another non-flying day for me. At least not at home. LOL!

SIL is coming to my inlaws today for the weekend with her DH and 2 kids (she lives 2 hours away). So the day looks like this

*Go to inlaws to visit SIL
*go to JV football game at 11am (this may or may not get done)
*get to soccer fields in town at 12:30. Games at 1:00 and 2:30
*back to inlaws for dinner and more visiting, and hopefully watch the GA/TENN football game on TV (that is, if SIL's DH isn't hogging with with NASCAR).

It's 8:20 now, I need a shower first off, and fix breakfast and clean up the kitchen. I would like to make a banana bread to take to inlaws, if I have time.

Have a great weekend!

hi all!

Submitted by Becky on Sat, 10/07/2006 - 10:09am.

I would love, love, love to get a ton of FLYing done today, but I think most of my productive time is going to have to be taken up with homework and studying. OTOH.... I might just let go of all that and do housework anyway! I'll post a TADA later about which way I went.

Becky's picture

skipped the studying!

Submitted by Becky on Sat, 10/07/2006 - 5:28pm.

TADA:

2 loads of laundry
caught up on dishes
bought some flypaper and hung it up (UGH! there are flies at home, flies at school, and flies outside)
ordered, online, an indoor bug zapper (see above re flies)
vacuumed living room
took out trash

I still want to do another load of laundry, make dinner, and put some frozen cookie dough in the oven to bake.

Submitted by Andrea on Sun, 10/08/2006 - 3:14am.

Hey Everyone -

Heidi, we read Lord of the Flies - I didn't get it read though. Oh well.

Becky - I have never had to hang Flypaper - does it really work?

Kenny, hope you had a nice visit with your SIL!

Well, we had quite the day yesterday - selling GS cookies, soccer, acolyte training, and then we went to a nearby pumpking patch - stokoefarms.com - fun but I was tired and crabby by the end of it. Today - church and then we are going on a family overnite in the city. I did get some basic cleaning done Friday night.

Have a great day -

Need to start some laundry,

Submitted by jennye on Sun, 10/08/2006 - 7:18am.

Need to start some laundry, badly. All these days I say I need to do it, then I run out of time to do so. Now it really needs it.

But first...got to go to inlaws to see SIL and family before they go back home today. They will probably leave about noon, then I'll come home and spend the rest of the day doing laundry. I may run out and fertilize the yard real quick. Supposed to rain today and tomorrow (though I pray it won't. No rain til we get done baling, please. Aren't farmers just so fickle. We want rain, then when it does, we want it to stop).

Another beautiful fall day

Submitted by Shaun on Sun, 10/08/2006 - 8:30am.

And thank goodness! We need some days like this in the run-up to a long dark winter.

Gotta do a serious muck-out in the girls' roon today -- bunk beds being delivered on Wednesday!! The bummer is that I will lose a lot of underbed storage -- and our bedframe is too low to accomodate them. But the plus is gaining a lot of play/toy space in the girls' room. Just need a rug now . . .

Hurrah!!

Still Alive

Submitted by witchiepoo on Sun, 10/08/2006 - 11:02am.

Barely.

Lots of yucky stuff going on recently, including DS16 having a car accident (he's OK) and other general, all-around rough times. Yuck.

I have no idea why I have so much drama in my life. I swaer I am not a dramatic person! I must just be a magnet these days.

But, I've been keeping up with the routines pretty well, and we have food in our bellies and clothes on our backs. Thank goodness for routines and meal planning and OAMC! And we have each other. The most important thing of all.

I think of you all often and hope you are all well.

Peace,
Jo

What a great fall day here. It was sunny and mild and the leaves are beautiful....

Jo-glad to see your post, sorry things have been rough for you lately tho

Shaun-bunk beds will give you so much more floor space so that's a good trade off for under bed space any day in my book.

Andrea- I read Lord of the Flies in high school, what was the idea behind it for book club?

Becky- sounds like early nesting to me,with ditching the studying in favor of cleaning etc....what kind of cookies did you bake?

well Dd is ready so will see ya in the morning guys
