Ugh, all those dones just this morning! Girl, slow down, you make the rest of us look bad! Up at 5:20!!?? I woke up then. Then looked at the clock and told the baby he was just going to have to go back to sleep (and he did for once!).
Well, since it is Monday, it's a whole new week and a whole new slate, right? Ok, I'm going to do the weekly blessing sometime today. First I'm going to feed the baby and watch ER while I do so. After I clean him up (it's a messy job attepting to get a 10 month old to eat solid foods. He hates them, still. I'm at my last wit with it).
Tonight, both girls have soccer practice.

Hey Everyone -
Just winding down and thought I'd check in.
Heidi, I am loving Aldi lately - ours is reorganized now - have you tried the different fish filets? Also the Fit and Active ice cream sandwiches - yum.
Song, yes, please stop yelling at us
I am joking - you are doing great. I work an early schedule like your son's - at a school. It is hard, but nice to be done early if possible.
Hi Jenny - are the girls enjoying soccer? My DD7 is - two more Saturdays left.
Well, I'm off - nothing much to report today besides routines so I won't bore you -

So do you all feel like your routines are rock-solid? I long for the day, kwim? I am always reading testimonials on the Flylady list about houses that seem to clean themselves ... and I just have never gotten close to that level of ingrained habit with even the basic stuff.

Song-it does get to be automatic,at least for me. Anything done at least 21 times I think it is,becomes a habit. Or maybe you know that anyway...
Andrea-just finished The Speed of Dark and highly recommend it. Maybe you have heard of it already since you are in the psych field. If not, give it a go. Yes,our Aldi was recently renovated too and the health line of products are pretty good.
Well,better get going. See ya

Wow, I thought I was an early riser. Heidi was on here four hours ago! Heidi, thank you for the encouragement. I have heard the "21 days to a new habit" idea, and I guess I have yet to prove that wrong, as I have probably never done a routine consistently 21 days in a row. Maybe that is what I should focus on at this point -- one routine, commit to it as a #1 priority for a month. I have to do _something_ to free up some mental energy from house/family work so I can work more productively on my dissertation.

Morning all -
Thanks Heidi - I will check that out! I am reading The Theory of Relativity Now - it is so-so. Next I have to read Lord of the Flies for book club.
Song, Heidi often posts in the middle of the night or the crack of dawn - she has trouble sleeping sometimes (right Heidi?) but it does make the rest of us look bad when she has her am routine done by 5 am!!
I've been Flying for several years now so my routines are pretty much in place. It's the other stuff that I struggle with, like the weekly home blessing. The routines are a real godsend though b/c the house is never *terrible* if you know what I mean.
See ya - off to get some work done-
Andrea
routines out of whack
People were still in my bed this morning when I left to take the kids to school, so my MR isn't done. Everything is out of whack this morning. LOL!
I need to do some more laundry. As soon as ER is over (yes, I'm addicted to watching it on TNT every morning, sue me. LOL!), the baby and I are going to go out and feed cattle in the feed truck. We really should mow the grass today, too. Thankfully, no soccer practice tonight or tomorrow. Need to do a special sewing project for the preschool teacher, too.
Well, I'm here this morning.
Well, I'm here this morning. LOL!
Yesterday was...frustrating. Drew is driving me insane with his lack of eating and sleeping schedule he demands. But we did have fun feeding the cows. I couldn't get a good count on them, between 50 and 54. It was fun, though.
Today I'm going to work on some zone chores in the LR/DR. It's pretty much decluttered, save a hotspot or two (and if you don't count this desk, which is in a closet in the living room, so I can shut the doors and no one can see it. LOL!).
And since it's Wednesday, I'm going to plan meals thru next weekend. I probably won't go to the store til Friday after soccer practice (maybe DH will take DS4 on the tractor with him. He is a holy terror in Walmart. Always climbing out of the cart to get something he thinks he needs, like Scooby Doo yogurt or a new Thomas the Train engine).
And now it's time to fold some laundry. whoohoo! Let's hope I don't have too much fun at once!
I _loathe_ cartoons on food
I _loathe_ cartoons on food packaging. Michael is also 4 years old, and every last item in the store with a Spongebob, a Dora, a Scooby-Doo, etc. catches his eye. And then I get to hear about it incessantly. I'm working hard to educate him about the wiles of marketers, but not making much headway at this age. He just plain _wants_ it. And who can blame him?
Sigh. I've been dealing with some interpersonal disappointment/betrayal stuff the past 24 hours or so -- nothing worth going into here, but it has knocked me off kilter in a big way. I think I'm going to make a real effort for the rest of today to get my routines done and see if the homemaking/FLYing will help me find my balance again.
TADA:
Most of my morning routine, including getting Michael to daycare early
2nd of 2 slipcovers washed and dried, and both slipcovers replaced on loveseat and couch
Toilet/sink/floor cleaned in each bathroom
TV room tidied up just a bit
Main living areas swiffered
Houseplant watered (yes, I only have one, and there's a reason! LOL)
Hosted a LLL mtg here
Pick up after LLL mtg (just a few toys, etc.)
Buy gift for friend and mail it at post office
PODA:
Midday routine, including lunch (I'll edit w/ details as I do them)
Replace headlight bulb in my car
New reg. stickers on both cars
Update Quicken, do week's financial admin (this was Tuesday's weekly task)
Plan menus and make grocery list (today's weekly task)
Gosh, there is always so much more to do than I can fit into one list ... but I'll stop here and get to work.

I'm home!
Got home Monday night, late. Had a perinatologist appointment today, which went fine.
Jenny, over the weekend I read an article which made me think of you and Drew. It said that American pediatricians use growth charts which were originally developed in the 1970s, based on formula-fed babies, who grow TOO FAST. So now the WHO has put out new growth charts with the correct percentiles for breastfed babies. Now I can't for the life of me remember where I saw the article, but you can download the charts at http://www.parentingjoy.com/content/view/189/1/.
Good Morning! Welcome Home

Well, regardless of what the new charts say, Drew's weight isn't on the same curve as his height. All I want is for him to eat solid foods so he will sleep more. PLEASE!!! (LOL! Becky, be ready for sleep deprevation! LOL!). When are you due?
I tried to mow yesterday, but the battery was dead on the mower. Will try again today. Did do a few zone chores yesterday, though. Mantel, picture frames, some good dusting.
Soccer practice in town right after school for one, then I hope to get back to the school to support our varsity girls volleyball game (thank goodness I'm sleeping with a school board member and can get in free, I have no cash and won't be in town when the banks are open. And I don't have an ATM card, never have). Then hopefully will make it home in time for ER. Glad we don't have school on Friday's, DD9 and I love to watch ER together, so she can stay up late with me.
Time to go.

That new chart said the same as my doc's. 97%tile on height, 85%tile on weight.
Just an FYI -- going out of town
I've been busy the last couple days preparing for a weekend trip -- have kept the house pretty decent, but not a lot of time for posting. I'll be back Sunday night, but didn't want y'all to think I'd disappeared. Have a great weekend!

Have a nice trip, Song. Did
Have a nice trip, Song. Did you get all the car stuff straightened out?
I need to get some laundry done because the girls' soccer socks are dirty and they both have games today. After the games, it's off to the inlaws for dinner (some long lost cousin is visiting, my husband has never even met the guy, but we have to make an appereance. And who am I to turn down my MIL's homemade wheat buns and brisket? It's my job to mash the potatoes, and she made a Heavenly Chocolate Cake). I probably won't make it to church tomorrow so I can have one day at home. I'm also planning a trip to big town of Clovis on Monday to hit Walmart up there (ours didn't have the pattern I wanted to make poodle skirts for the girls. It's for 50's Day at school as part of Homecoming Spirit Week), and I would like to get Drew's pictures taken again at Sears, go to Bath and Body Works (need air freshener refills), and probably Hobby Lobby for some fall decor stuff. And dang it, I may as well go to Chili's to eat, right? Big decision: Big Mouth Mushroom Swiss burger or Combo Quisedillas?
Homecoming week: For Funky Hair Day, I bought some purple glitter spray. LOL! 50's Day--poodle skirts (not sure what I will do with DS4 on that), Twin Day, and of course Red White and Blue day (school colors). Friday is the hayride/bonfire (complete with lots of hot chocolate!) and Saturday the game, which I will miss because of my girls' soccer games.
Our dog got run over yesterday. We are all sad over it. He was great at watching out for rattlesnakes in the yard (and it's snake season right now), and at herding up the cows and watching Drew in the yard. Damn. RIP, Cooter.
sorry about your dog!
Will you get another one for snake-watching? BTW I vote Combo Quesadillas, and have Chance slick back his hair and peg his jeans.
That is a big PODA Andrea! I didn't end up getting anything done last night except microwaving a frozen dinner for me and DH. I have a lot more energy today though, so here is my PODA:
4 loads of laundry
catch up on dishes (I so wish we had space for a dishwasher!)
pick up and vacuum the living room
call Verizon to straighten out a billing issue (hope they're open Saturday!)
clean catbox
take out trash
clean the bathroom
Fortunately the bathroom isn't very dirty, so that part shouldn't be TOO bad. The rest, well-- ugh.
Good Morning! Jenny-sorry to
Good Morning!
Jenny-sorry to hear about your dog, were the kids real close to him? I think pegging his jeans might mean cuffing them like the guys did in the 50's. Also you can roll the sleeves on a plain white T shirt, have him wear white socks with black shoes and use makeup to give him a tattoo on his upper arm. Kinda all like the guys in the movie "Grease". Have fun...

Our weather has been crummy
Our weather has been crummy too Heidi - still waiting for a glorious fall day to fall on a weekend!
Enjoy your day at home tomorrow Jenny!
Well, my PODA is done pretty much. Only with the help of DH though. I do have to run one more quick errand though. The apple crisp is in the oven - YUM. I'd like to lie down for quick rest before our dinner party - we'll see -
Andrea
ROFL
Jennye, you'll notice that I have to remind myself to shower, brush my teeth, feed my kid (well, that would probably get done somehow w/o the list!) I'll try switching over to the TADA and PODA delivery, though, because when I type DONE in all caps it does sorta look like "shouting."
And the _only_ reason I am up at 5:20 on weekdays is b/c my 17yo stepson leaves for school by 6:10. His classes start at 7:15, and if he's going to meet with a teacher or something, it has to happen before the bell rings. It's insane to make teenagers do this, imho. I worry about his nutrition, so I get up and cook him some eggs and make sure he hasn't slept through his alarm. I'll tell you what, though -- I couldn't have done this when my son was a baby and waking at night a lot! By the time Patrick started high school, Michael was a toddler and DH was doing most of the nighttime duty.
Solids Problems
Hi Jenny
Just butting in on your flybabies to say that I had the same problem with DD2.5, who would not really eat solids between the ages of six months and a year.
I just wanted to say that with her, she just suddenly got it when she was a year old, she was also a very keen breast-feeder. I had a lot of health workers say to me 'Oh you must get her to eat', and as she wasn't gaining weight I panicked like anything. However, about a year ago a really experienced health visitor (don't know if you have them in the States, but they're nurses trained to advise the community on health issues) looked at her growth charts. Her comment was that DD was a big baby because she breast fed well, and then slipped down the chart because of her genetics (I was a skinny child). When it was put like that I really kicked myself for getting into such a lather about it.
So keep plugging away, because I'm sure it will get better for you like it did for me, and I'm thinking of you because it's so horrible to have a child who won't eat.
Zillah
And a few things that were
And a few things that were NOT in my plans for today:
Confront 17yo abt scraping my car and knocking off his car's parking light when he left for school this morning.
Explain that one never EVER leaves the scene of any accident, however minor and however late for school one might be, without assessing the damage and, if possible, informing the owners of all cars involved.
Consult with the other two parents (by phone and e-mail) about how to handle the consequences for above incident.
Drive both boys to 3 different stores this evening so that 17yo could buy necessary supplies to repair the damage from said incident.
Sigh. I'm whining, which I believe is a no-no while FLYing. But this whole thing ate an awful lot of my time and energy this afternoon and evening.
you're probably right Heidi!
I can't say I was paying THAT much attention. I had a lot on my mind over the weekend! But the wedding was lovely, and I got to see several other old friends besides the one getting married.
due in mid-March
But I don't know if we'll make it that far! I'm at some risk for prematurity after last time.
I'm already having to get up at night to "feed the baby" because I'm starving and can't make it through the night. So I guess sleep deprivation is already happening.
Chance has a very short
Chance has a very short haircut that I do myself (very short, I use a 2 guard on top and 1 on the sides and back), and what does peg his jeans mean?
Thanks, Zillah
My dr. has shown concern on the last visit that Drew, while in the 99th percentile on height, is only about 80 on weight now, when they have always been consistant with each other. Also, that he knows that of all four of my kids, he is the only one that has done this. The rest have always ate like champs on solids from 4 months on.
Ya know, just when I thought I had this childraising thing down, I have to have one that won't do ANYTHING like the other three and makes me feel totally imcompentent. Have I mentioned that he won't sleep in his crib. I mean, he flat out won't stay in there longer than 20 minutes during the day and maybe a little longer at night. Another new thing for me. It really sux. LOL!
I think that if he would just eat more, he may sleep more. Then I would sleep more. Then maybe my husband wouldn't spend so many nights on the couch (actually, that's not so bad. More room for me in the bed. LOL!)
