Possible Redesign

Submitted by Lynn on Thu, 08/31/2006 - 2:34pm.

OK, you guys, I'm getting antsy about how the site looks, especially the front page.

--What works/doesn't work?

--What do you want to see more/less of?

--How's the clutter level? I know there are a lot of ads and that won't/can't change (though logging in does reduce SOME of the ads); if it truly bothers you, subscribe and lose ALL of the ads.

--Can you find stuff, especially the archived stuff? I know about the "reviews" problem. That's going to get fixed, though it may be a horrid, painful thing. Or at least an exercise in creative database loading.

image galleries

image galleries are gone, *poof*, dissapeared

I think the masthead is unbalanced with both the season and the day right next to each other. I like them, they're beautiful, but the way they're on the bar...doesn't do it for me?

how's that?

Thanks for the reminder on image galleries, I'll try to rescue those too. I have no idea why they're not working.

just a thought

is this really the best time for you to start a massive overhaul Lynn?? Are you antsy about the site or just plain antsy?? When I start getting antsy and irritable I start tidying like a maniac, though it may not really be the mess that's winding me up. Smiling

I have noticed that because of the amount of stuff down the right side the page is really long. I wouldn't say it bothers me though. I saw what Anhata was saying about the season and day being right next to each other, but now I feel like my eyeballs are trying to go in opposite directions to see both. I think she's right though, and it's easier to appreciate both pictures when they're further apart - they are well worth appreciating!

just take it slowly, and consider this a project for the WHOLE of autumn and winter if you must insist on fiddling with it. Eye-wink

Kerri.

mostly the look is good

But I'm not seeing my "slipcover" for summer. Otherwise, I am quite happy with the visuals and only think the previously-mentioned functional maintenance needs any kind of work.

I took the "fabric" off

The sunflowers were making it too busy, I was afraid. I found some major markup errors while I was putzing--I've actually changed a LOT of very small things that I think have made things less cluttery. I may put it back, but only from the top menu bar down--no slipcover around the season/logo/day bar.

OK I put it back on :)

But it's much less visible than before. It's a narrow band around the top and sides, and more visible at the bottom.
