My organization issues are b/c of my bad habitsI'm having to LEARN, as an adult, how to do things the right way. For instance, since I created a hanger right inside my door for keys, I rarely lose them anymore. I watched a woman on HGTV talk about the way a closet should be organized. She said to arrange all pants together from dark colored to light; all shorts and skirts from dark to light; all long sleeved items from dark to light; and all short sleeved items from dark to light. The results have been amazing. Before, I just threw my clothes on hangers and shoved them into any open space I could find. Now I know where every thing is AND putting away the clean laundry is faster. I am shocked at the intense, technical assistance I need when it comes to de-cluttering and organizing. It does not come easily for me. But, I am learning. I still struggle with paper. When I worked at a westernWhen I worked at a western wear store, one of my favorite things to do was organize the jeans using ROY G. BIV. LOL! I used to do my closet this way, too. Then we moved to a house with a much smaller closet and it's all crammed in there (yes, I know I should get rid of stuff and I have. I just don't wanna get rid of anymore! I'm a clothes hog!). Been watching alot of HGTV lately. Well, listening. Well, it's on, whether anyone is listening or watching. LOL! Who has time to watch! Still, one can pick up alot of tips here and there. Collars too......you can factor in collars: short sleeve/collarless ->short sleeve w/collars -> 3/4 sleeve/collarless -> 3/4 sleeve w/collars -> long sleve....... One huge advantage of separating by garmet type, style, and color is that it extends your wardrobe! "This skirt" may go with "that top," but when you separate them you may realize that "this ohter blouse" would go with "that skirt," too and "that top" would be great with "this pair of slacks".....I keep my suits separated for the same reason. (I also try to only add items that will go with at least two things I already own.) My tops go : strappy tanks, tanks, sleeveless/no collar, sleeveless w/collar, short sleeve/no collar (t-shirts and shells), short sleeve w/collars....ending with blazers/jackets. I (try to) keep my tops separated by collars and sleeve lengths...but I don't do color because I simply don't have the quantity in any single category to bother (KWIM?) Oh...and Kay? I think all of us struggle with paper! I sure do! Blessings, ![]() The ChronicThat is totally me, which is not what I needed to hear after I spent the afternoon sorting through toys and putting 2 giant totes on the porch for a sale. (Sadly, I can't have the sale until Sept. 8, so my porch will be full until then.) Maybe I should ask for professional help for my upcoming birthday! Truly, I am at the point where I am tired of how the clutter interferes with my life and my relationships. BTW paper clutter is our worst, but we have clutter of all kind. We are like the Wonka candy factory -- things come in, but nothing ever comes out. (E.g., I am the proud owner of one unsused car, 3 unused air conditioners, 1 unused television, and Lord knows what else is in the garage -- apart from the broken microwave.) I told DH -- no more buying until we move some stuff out!! Post new comment |
