Taking the Pledge

This isn't hard for me since I rarely buy clothes anyway so here goes:

I, Lynn,

Pledge that I shall abstain from the purchase of "new" manufactured items of clothing, for the period of 4 months.

I Pledge that I shall refashion, renovate, recycle pre-loved items for myself for the term of my contract.

I Pledge that I shall create and craft items of clothing for myself with my own hands in fabric, yarn or other medium for the term of my contract.

I Pledge that I will share the love and post a photo of my refashioned, renovoated, recycled, crafted or created item of clothing on the Wardrobe Refashion blog, so that others may share the joy that my thriftyness brings!

---

That's the Pledge itself; I'm adding:

I further Pledge to abstain from purchases of new-to-me fabric and yarn.

THAT's going to be the hard one.

Good for you...

I often speak to women shelters on such a topic from picking the right pieces at thrift shops to stretching those garments over time. For example, nothing updates a coat like new buttons. The more expensive the buttons look the more expensive the jacket looks.

Another thought is garment switching...find a friend who wears your size and you now have twice the number of outfits. Especially nice around the Holiday's to save on buying an expensive outfit for that certain Christmas party every year.

Scarf’s are another must...

Just thought I would have some fun sharing my thoughts. I have no problem with the clothes buying since I can sew and never am without a new project. However, no new fabric, that would truly break me.
