![]() Declutter progressWe got a new DR table Friday -- yay! -- so we are reorganizing. I want the old table to move downstairs and be a crafts/lego/play table. But first, DH's drums have to move back into his office. But before we can do that we have to totally muck out the office so that he can have his drums set up. (Previously, we had his drums in there, but smushed together. Now the goal is to make space for them to be set up to play at all times.) So yesterday I did some good mucking. I had been saving all my Martha magazines. No more! I tossed out boxes and boxes of saved old magazines, now sitting on the curb waiting to be recycled. Actually, the worst of the mess was just plain trash, so that's not so hard. But with the Martha mags out there is a lot of freed up storage for the junk still sitting out. And maybe we will even get to vaccuum in there once this year! (Scary!) Holiday?Oh, it's a holiday? Barely noticed. DH will be working before sunrise and well after sunset tonight, tomorrow, and probably Wed., too, IF it doesn't rain. Glad for it, because he is not in a good mood lately. This morning I loaded up all the kids and we went out to the field to help DH. I had to help him lift a heavy piece of the planter back into place. Then he and I filled the thing up with seed (70 bags of seed, 50 pounds per bag). It was 80 degrees by 8am. I got back home and a friend called who had wanted to borrow my carpet shampooer. She will be back by tonight to return it. After she left, Drew and I got the grass mowed. I'm hoping while friend is back here tonight, she will watch all the kids (my 4 + her 2) while I weedeat. ![]() No Holiday for ManyI can't believe how many stores were open on the 4th! I know that farmers and ranchers don't get to take many summer breaks, but does the Nike Outlet have to be open? Good grief, let people spend some time with their families! We had a great 4th -- ended up riding in a parade on the back of our neighbor's antique fire truck. (Very fun neighborhood parade, in its 59th year.) The we went to a beautiful city park by the Mississippi River for some walking in the woods, rock collecting by the beach, and picnicking in the grass. I think everyone had a great time. (DD7 is standing next to me confirming that it was a beautiful park.) We really lucked out - high around 80 degrees, so very pleasant weather. We are schooling today, I have some freelancing to do, and *lots* of cleaning for the weekend -- our first dinner party with our new table. (DD7 says "Whoo Hoo! Dinner party! Dinner party!) 6 adults, 6 kids. Hope everyone has a great day! Yup, it was no holiday here.Yup, it was no holiday here. DH left at 5:30am. About noon I hooked onto a trailer, loaded up 20 extra sacks of seed left over from last year and brought that to him with lunch. He got in at 11pm. Tired, but DONE planting! whoohoo! We were going to have a 5th of July dinner tonight, but then he remembered that he has Lion's club meeting tonight, Fire dept. meeting tomorrow night. So screw all plans for any celebration, I guess. Now we wait to make sure all the seed comes up and see if we need to replant anything. Pray for rain, but not a hard rain or it will wash the seed away. Yes, we are a picky bunch. LOL! DH has been on the tractor nearly non-stop since mid-May. We saw some fireworks from here. But since they were 26 miles away, we didn't see much. More like little bursts way out on the horizon. Well, not sure I'll do much flying. FIL put in a new windmill and stocktank out on his ranch. We are taking the kids up there swimming after DH gets a tire on the feed truck fixed and feeds our cows. Supposed to rain today, hopefully it will. I am making my grocery and menus list for grocery day tomorrow. WHAT?!I had a nice long comment and it's been flagged as SPAM!! WTH! My emails to my mom and aunt are suddenly being blocked from their addresses as well. After YEARS of posting here and YEARS emailing them, I'm suddenly SPAM! That just makes my day. Can I post it NOW?Yup, it was no holiday here. DH left at 5:30am. About noon I hooked onto a trailer, loaded up 20 extra sacks of seed left over from last year and brought that to him with lunch.
