Back again!

After a break from just about everything that was extra I am diving back into the world in seems.

Life has calmed down around our household (knock wood) so I am feeling a bit more "normal" lately.

DH has totally recovered from his burns. Still has to be careful in the sun and with some areas on his hand. He does have some scarring but really he is VERY lucky.

Mother in law has completed chemo and radiation. It was touch and go on several occasions but she is looking better everyday. She has a brightness in her face I have not seen for sometime.

Father in law has recovered well. He is really much further along in his recovering and is back to work a couple of days a week. (they own an antique store in town)

I am loving the homeschooling lifestyle and feel a large stress has been taken off of me and the kids but of course am nervous about money and planning. I am sure everything will fall into place.

Waves to all and hopefully I will be around a little more now.

Jana

everyone's commenting on how few emails they're getting from me (except the people I'm working with!). But a quiet Sunday morning seems like a good time to say a proper hello. Okay, not that quiet... the kids are currently experiencing one of those perfect parenting moments whereby natural consequences and the teaching of life skills come together in one simple but elegant package - they got themselves covered in chalk yesterday so now they're washing their clothes in a bucket outside! Smiling

It sounds like you might be starting on an easier, happier period of your life for a while Jana, and you certainly deserve it after such a tough time. I'm glad you're enjoying the homeschooling, not feeling it's an extra burden or something - I can imagine it could seem that way. I shall see what I can dig out to make your homeschooling a bit more varied... You should get stuff from me around about September if I send things off reasonably soon after getting back from Singapore. Other than postcards are there any other categories of objects we could look out for?? This applies to other homeschoolers too (not the whole homeschooling world please!). But if you want some international stuff from Singapore, maybe even China if I rope in my SILs, let me know by PM and give me your address, and I'll see what I can do. I can certainly manage to send everyone a postcard from Singapore! Smiling

oh dear, off topic as ever - your fault Jana for starting that one! Smiling I really hope you and yours have a quieter time ahead in which to enjoy each other and your homeschooling journey. As you said, it will all fall into place, and it doesn't have to be expensive, if you can keep away from book stores and go to libraries instead! Smiling My main weakness is kids' books and reference books - sad isn't it!

Take care of yourself...

Hi Jana!

Great to see you poking your head in! I'm glad to hear things have settled a bit in your life after going through such a rough spell. We're all muddling along the best we can around here! We've missed you - I was just thinking of you the other day and wondering how things were going. Good luck with homeschooling - you'll do great I'm sure.

Hope to see you around more -
Andrea

Glad to get an update and see you back. Hope you'll be able to pop in more often.

Glad homeschooling is going well -- I agree, it has been a much *less* stressful lifestyle for us too. I am just hoping I can talk DD3 out of Kindergarten when the time comes!!

Kerri, you know my DD is studying Chinese! You asked for it!

I've done nothing about their Chinese since we've been here... except talk a couple of times, but never took it anywhere. Problem is that they see it as a chore, no matter what I've tried to do with them. If you have some suggestions I'd be more than willing to trade them for whatever we can get for you! Smiling

Glad things are looking up for you all, and that you're enjoying the homeschooling. I didn't get around to replying to your email yet, but you can expect postcards from us too for your project Smiling
