One more question, please. Nomatter how tight I pack the contents into the jar, it always floats up about 1 inch from the bottom. This may not be a problem but it's unsightly. What else can I do?

![]() Unfortunately, nothing you can do about thatit's gonna happen no matter what. I'm used to it--my mother and grandmother canned, so it looks "normal" to me, but I know what you mean. They were cold packed. Would that have anything to do with the problem (if it's a problem)? ![]() Hmmmm...Pickle juice can be cloudy from the pickling spices, not using pure salt/pickling canning salt, and sometimes "hard" water can cause problems too. There may be other reasons that I don't know about. I tried doing a quick keyword search on the subject, no luck, but that just means I probably wasn't using the right keywords. As long as it tastes like it should, I think it's fine. Anhata Post new comment |
